Title: Amv's
Description: Faves, tips, and blatant advertisement

Kago - May 22, 2004 02:50 AM (GMT)
Okay, for the record I honestly had no idea what section I was supposed to put this under so feel free to move it to wherever, but with that out of the way on to my main announcement.
I currently have two AMV's up on http://www.Animemusicvideos.org and am working on a third. I am currently one half of Evil Cute Things Productions (along with Kiaraiskiara), so you can use that too search for our stuff. And yes this is a shameless attempt at self promotion.
And now that I've had my chance to try and attract any and/or all attention I can
get my hands on, I have to ask if there are any othe AMV makers on here?
Well? Anybody?

i've made a few... http://anime.101main.com/mika/fun/amv/media.html the only one i recommend watching is the most recent, and even then, that's pushing it... I've got a long way to go, i'll just say that much. I'm downloading your vids right now though, so I'll let you know what I think. Um, as far as advice for making them though, the "how-to" stuff on animemusicvideos.org is pretty good. it gives rather nice instructions for lip sync and keeping the footage true to the song you use.

okay, just finished watching 'em. concepts aren't bad, but the transitions and planning I think need a little bit of work. Between shots sometimes there are blips (like little 1/2 second clips that weren't trimmed quite as much as they should be). I don't know what program you're using, but I recommend that before publishing a video, go through frame by frame, ESPECIALLY your transitions between clips. make sure they are clean. (in a fruits basket one i did, theres ONE blip and now i can't fix it because it's too late... *weep*) next, with transitions, you may want to play around with them a little. instead of just clip to clip, sometimes fade in and out are nice, etc. I thought in the Fruits Basket video "LoveHate" especially, i think it would have been a little better to make some of the darker scenes feel a little darker with some effects(like add some shadows or make some frames black and white, etc) again, that's just my opinion. the last thing i suggest is planning. Most of the clips were well placed, but some of it felt like you didn't know what to put, so you just threw stuff in.... that may or may not be the case, but it's a good idea to plan out exactly how you want the video to flow before you even start working on it on your computer. all in all though, not bad. You guys seem to be growing better with each video.

Well, I guess I'm kinda an AMV creator. Not really sure why my computer won't let me upload my AMVs onto the site but that's another story.

Well I've watched the videos and I have to tell you. They were good. Not great, but good. Which is better than bad!

Thanks, I appreciate the constructive criticism. You have no idea how much it's appreciated. Out of I don't know how many people who've downloaded them, only 1 person (aside from my partner) has had the decency to leave an opinion. It's very frustrating.
And yeah, I know the video quality on "My Baby's In Love With Yuki..." sucks. I didn't figure out how to fix it until AFTER I had uploaded it to the site.
Right now I'm working on a remake of one I had done a while ago, and I hope to get it finished and up soon. But I'm stuck with Windows Movie Maker 2 ('cuz Premiere is expensive).

*kicks his work computer* LET ME WATCH THEM!!! Stoopid thing. Unfortunatly, I am unable to watch your AMV's here at work, I will try to watch them when I get home. If you want some tips from someone who is really good (no offense Pan-Pan!!) I will try to get our old friend Mr. T back on here, he is helping me create my AMV masterpiece...and he is GOOD! :ph43r:

I have a question what programs do you all use to make you vidio's? I have a freind you is intreted in make ing some but doesn't have a program at home to do so with. (she is running ona windows 98)

Pan APn Ive watched your vidios a few times, they are good. Kago, I'll have to watch yours later they sound intresting.

Pan Pan - June 16, 2004 11:03 PM (GMT)
I use adobe premiere, i'm not sure if it runs in windows '98 though. I think there might be a "Windows Movie Maker" program that she might try. it's good for beginners, very simple to use, but don't expect them to come out really well.

rar... i'm SO close to done with an amv... i wanna finish it... i've been up till 2am the last few nights this week just working on it... *goes back to working on it* :D

Windows Movie Maker SUCKS! Period! Only use it for your first one or two, and even then only of you have too, then get something better. And if you HAVE too use it, make sure you download ver. 2, the video quality is much better.
Even though it's the program I made mine with, it was a pain in the ass. It kept shutting down for no reason.
I'm happy I just got some new editing software (Pinnacle Studio 9). It aint premiere, but I hear it's the next best thing. It's also much, much, MUCH less expensive.

Pan Pan - June 19, 2004 07:51 AM (GMT)
yeah movie maker does suck, but it's good for beginners that want to learn the basics. and... um... even with Premiere... every now and again it'll still freeze up and you'll have to start over... so save often! *sigh* such a pain... lol...

but anyway! Now for some blatant pimpage of my new video! It's finally done!! Please check it out and let me know what you think! Thanks!

I just got back from Megacon and I have two announcements:
1) I premiered my new AMV "Livin' La Vida Sohma" at the AMV contest. I finished it at the con, literally 5 minutes before turning it in.
2) My "Kenshin's Tomorrow" won Best Drama. Yay for me!
Both are up at http://www.animemusicvideos.org if you wanna see 'em.
(Leave a review, or at least a star rating, PLEASE!)
