sorry to disappoint, but there really are only 4 dvds. 26 episodes total i believe... anyway, you get 6 or 7 eps on each disc though, so it's a pretty good deal. yeah and the manga does go further into the story

awww! How disappointing, oh well. I guess I'll just have to read the entire manga. Well, it's all good. I just like to watch the animes sometimes more than reading the mangas because then you get the full effect. I was still going to read the manga anyways. I like to see the differences. Thanks for answering me Pan-Pan, I really appreciate it.

Alright, I have a question about Fruits Basket. My friends and I love the show and we bought the DVDs in English. My question is, are there only 4 DVDs? I'm hoping not. I know the manga is longer, but I wanted to know if the Anime stops at the 4th DVD or if it just the English that does

Trust us.. READ the manga.. while the TV series is completely awesome and something that we think every intelligent anime lover should watch.. the manga has extra things that they opted to leave out for time constraints...honestly.. the manga completely ROCKS. It's totally worth it. I hope you enjoy it!!!
The funny part is, Akitaroh Daichi (the director) has been coming to various anime conventions (he's going to be at SakuraCon where we will be also!) and EVERY single one he's been to, he has hoards of fans begging him to PLEEEEEEEASE do more Fruits Basket....

oh heck yeah, there are too many people who like the series for them to stop it, I'm hoping they will realize this soon. but yeah the manga is great I've been enjoying it alot so do what no-chan says :)

I think they stopped it at a perfect spot. The ending was well done and they stopped it before it became redundant and full of fillers.
At that time they had caught up to the manga- and Kyo's story then was the biggest part of the manga, and I'm glad they chose to stop it at that point instead of trying to do filler episodes until they got more manga storyline.
If anything I hope they do some OVAs of the latest story arcs from the manga, there are some AWESOME storylines in the manga that weren't even touched in the anime.
Honestly, I don't know if another season would be as good, that is why I'm hoping for OVAs.

I agree with Calla. I'm way more of an anime fan than a manga fan myself. Plus, the first volume of Fruits Basket just came out! We have to wait SO long for them to get to further story lines! *sigh*
I would like to see another season of Fruits Basket, but I do fear if it's not done by the same people. If they could get the same director and voice actors, that would be fabulous--for a series or an OVA.
It's kind of a gamble in hoping for it. While I would love to see more, I dread finding a second season to be poorly done. I guess we'll just wait to see what the future has in store and hope for the best. :)

You're right, If it's not going to be done well they shouldn't bother with it at all. but I have no doubt something interesting will happen reguarding fruites basket somtime in the near future.
nie-chan - April 28, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
currently there are no plans for a second season of Fruits Basket. I know there is always a rumor saying ' that it's being worked on' blah blah blah. But in the panel with the director of Fruits Basket, that question was asked. Apparantly he was asked that question in Japan, Taiwan, and New York. lol
So CURRENTLY there are no plans. But you never know - he did a sequel to Jubei-chan after how many years? *shrug* So for now we'll have to live with what we have. ;)

I was wondering why they have only came out with two books of fruits basket? It seems likes its been out for some time but all I can find is volumes 1 and 2. Volume 3 doesn't come out till june. So how are you guys reading it n all?
No-Chan-San - April 30, 2004 07:50 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the volumes have been pretty consistently one every other month. That's fast enough for me for now.. I'm just excited the manga got licensed here.
Eheh.. well, there were people scanslating it before it got licensed. Now there are people who are part of a Fruits Basket mailing list who translate each new chapter as it comes out. Pretty much it was fan translated all the way up to the new stuff that was coming out anyway. So yeah, we're just trying to keep a low profile so TP doesn't freak out cuz dangit, there are a LOT of people who want to know what's going to happen before it finally shows up here! Volume 14 just came out in Japan and she's probably already done with 15 and into what will be 16 now.
That make sense? If you'd like the mailing list info, PM me and I'll give it to you. The people tend to be nice and there are the main links there for finding the translations online.. or most of them after a certain point. But still buy the Manga. It's worth it. I know I am!!
Lazy_Gurl - April 30, 2004 03:38 PM (GMT)
Um....Ok...I think I got that......But what did you mean about the mailing list? They translate the japanese version into english? is that it? I'm still confused...
nie-chan - April 30, 2004 04:38 PM (GMT)
The mailing list has about over a 1000 members, people just talk Fruits Basket and speculate at what's going happen... blah blah. (share fanart and fanfics....) Twice a month (except everyonce in awhile) Fruits Basket has a new chapter released in Hana to Yume.
There is a member of the mailing list that will translate the latest chapter - ONLY the latest chapter, since it is licensed. You can not ask for scanslations or even where to get scanslations - they are pro "buy the licensed version" Which is good.
Be warned that this mailing list has been following Fruits Basket for years now - you may spoil yourself on somethings......
But yes support the Fruits Basket.. for it is good.

Coolness! I got it! But I don't think I want to spoil it so I will just wait but thats alot of members. Thanks Anyway! :D
