I JUST SAW ESCAFLOWNE FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!! Oh, my God, it was AWSOME!!!!! Well, what I saw of it anyway! I'm only on episode 5 because my mom though 2 hours of TV in one sitting was enough for the day. My friend handed me the DVD box set to borrow! Yey! And I fell in love with Allen! Oh, my God! What a bishie!!!!!! This show totally rocks! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! *runs off to watch more of her borrowed DVDs*

susaki - March 11, 2004 03:34 PM (GMT)
does no one like this show?!?!

No-Chan-San - March 11, 2004 06:53 PM (GMT)
Tell us what you think of it when you finish the show. ;)
I, personally, LOVE it. It's well written, well animated.. and just an overall cool show.. I know others of the femmes like it too.. but there might be people who haven't seen it, oddly enough.. ;D
Anyhow, yeah!!
Yes, Allen is purdy. The slut. :D

susaki - March 11, 2004 07:28 PM (GMT)
Okay, well, I'm half-way though now...

Pan Pan - March 11, 2004 09:39 PM (GMT)
hee... allen is a pretty man-whore though... he's a babe. I like Van best though. He's so freakin' adorable. He needs a hug. I would be happy to give him one! :D oh and of course, who could forget Dilandau?! He's so awesome. he needs a hug too... badly... that kid has some problems... o.o heh... but yeah, esca is a great series, i really liked it lots. ^-^

Dilandau? His voice gives me a headache!

nie-chan - March 12, 2004 08:21 PM (GMT)
I love Escaflowne! I almost have it all.. I'm missing like 2 disks.....

Allen is pretty, but... I get distracted by his shirt too much.... the puffy sleeves.. that is a girl's shirt. What were they thinking?

I agree with Pan Pan about Van... not sure about the whole dilandau angle she has going.... but I just adore Van! For me he beats Allen, hands down!

Pan Pan - March 13, 2004 06:12 AM (GMT)
hm... well the voice for dilandau... it depends on if you mean the dub or the sub version... The dub version is the same voice as Genki from Monster Rancher! holy crap. that freaked me out the first time i heard him. I was like, "AH! Evil Genki!!!" yeah. the japanese one is done by a female though. she's done voices like, Kiki from "Kiki's Delivery Service," Nabiki from "Ranma 1/2," and Hijiri(creepy violin kid) in Yami no Matsuei(descendants of darkness). I think she does a pretty good job with the insane voice there. ^-^ *glee* Moero!(burn!) ^o^ but yeah, I like Van best. he's just uber cute.... and not a playboy... or insane.

Ack! Allen! ALLEN I SAY!!!!!!!

P-chan - March 14, 2004 11:44 PM (GMT)
I borrowed this show from Kime some time back, and I got bored with it really really quickly. I made it about half way through, and then I just couldn't take it anymore. They didn't seem to be going anywhere with the story, it was all just staying in the same spot, the character development was also very slow. If I want to know about a character, I want to learn most of it in the first few episodes, not halfway through the series. But I do have to admit that the 'bonding' of that kid and Escaflowne was kinda cool! :D :ph43r:

Kago - March 14, 2004 11:55 PM (GMT)
I saw some of the series way back when they played it on fox, but they stopped it about half way through.
The only thing I've really seen is the movie, the ending of which I found both humorous and sad at the same time.

Can you say "obsessed"?
Yes, I believe you can.

susaki - March 22, 2004 11:50 PM (GMT)
ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST SAW THE WORST ENDING EVER!!!!!!!!! I WATCHED ALL THAT FOR AN ENDING LIKE THAT!?!?!?!?!?! IT SUCKED!!!!!! WHY DIDN'T HITOME STAY!?!?! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!!!!!! SHE LOVED VAN DIDN'T SHE!?!?!? ACK!!!!! I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND ANIME WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID HITOME!!!

Don't get me wrong however! I do love the show Escaflowne! I was so into it until the LAST FRIGGIN' TEN MINUTES! YUCK!

Okay calm down...it's okay....

Anyway, it was a really good anime! I'd still recomend it to people! Actually I might just buy it for myself.

Weird twist with Delandou though...it made my head hurt  lol

My obsession for Allen has somewhat been replaced however with Folken...did I spell that right? Anyway, black-wings is now my new obsession and not Allen....boy-toy was good but I like Folken better...I dunno...my taste for Allen disinigrated in the last four or five episodes...

All in all AWSOME SHOW!!!!

Kago - March 23, 2004 12:21 AM (GMT)
The only problem I really had with Vision Of Escaflowne was that they all had Usopp noses.
(If you've ever seen One Piece you'll know what I'm talkin' about.)

susaki - March 23, 2004 12:24 AM (GMT)
lol! Yeah, I know what 'cha mean ^_^

annie-chan - March 29, 2004 11:37 PM (GMT)
susaki: I HAVE to agree. the ending absolutely suuuucked......and who can't luv Allen? I've officially scared all my friends. most the time they make fun of me becuz of it, but then i beat them up. hehehehe......i loved the story line, with the whole underline of 'destiny'. but, who cares? i watch it for my Allen!

susaki - March 30, 2004 04:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah ^_^ Well, like I said...Allen has been somewhat pushed aside...I like Folken more now ^_^ But Allen is still a hottie!!!!

annie-chan - June 8, 2004 01:18 AM (GMT)
ah yes, folken gets my luv in the end. but still, to tell you the truth, i can never forget Allen. he was truly the first bishounen i fell for.

Youkai-chan - June 26, 2004 08:53 PM (GMT)
Ah yes Allen resident pretty boy for good reaSon I mean I love him too . . . with all my heart but we also have to remember Dilandau and his crazy fire obsession

caseyanimefan - December 10, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
I own Escaflowne; had to buy it for myself after all my hints and direct requests to my older sister went unheeded for my birthday. It's a good series with the whole "Control your own destiny, but leave everyone else's to them" idea, and the guys are cute too. My friend likes Van best; him and his mysterious, self-repairing red shirt. She thinks that maybe Merle repairs them of-screen . . . or is it one of his numerous fangirls? I personally believe that all anime characters have massive closets full of precise replicas of one outfit and that's why their stuff never really has to be washed, mended, etc. My Escaflowne bishie is Dryden, actually, he's such a scruffy sweetie. I will admit that he could use a wardrobe consult, but I guess maybe he's too busy with business and studying to bother much with such practical stuff. Guess if he and Millerna had stayed together longer she'd have changed him; no, wait, she might've got him to wear those puffy-sleeved pirate shirts like Allen wears, yech! I'm not too sure about guys who wear sleeves bigger than their heads; show some muscle! And I just dislike Allen for being such a playboy; I can't tolerate attitudes like his. And he was so attracted to Hitomi (I have a hard time believing it really was love), yet he admitted that he saw so much of his little sister in her. Aieee, incest fantasies! The heck; when did we get into Angel Sanctuary?! Oh well, his son, Prince Sheed, is a cute kid; he'll turn out much better.

Hear, hear. God, I hated him.

Ahah, you think Allen had incest fantasies? You evidently haven't seen Revolutionary Girl Utena

caseyanimefan - April 30, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
No, I haven't seen Utena, cause the clips I've seen in amvs and the warnings I've gotten from friends have kept me wary of it. And Touga's probably the only character dubbed by Crispin Freeman that I hate; I cannot and will not tolerate a flirt/sleep with just about anything that's human, worship me cause I'm the best attitude. Also, I like at least one thing about my bishies to be slightly goofy or amusing and guys like Allen and Touga seem to be lacking in that.

Mishi - May 1, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
Touga was dubbed by Crispin Freeman?

O_O I didn't know that. Touga and Akio are both like that. They sleep with everyone, and possibly each other, but for some reason I don't like Touga, but I DO like Akio, who is even worse than Touga. Maybe it's because Akio is a master of sparkle-shine.

All the Utena guys are masters of sparkle-shine, but Akio more than the others. It's quite amusing.

caseyanimefan - May 1, 2007 06:08 PM (GMT)
Mishi, if you do a search on Anime News Network, you'll find that CF has done a ton of characters and apparently Touga is one of his favorites. (Feh.)

Well, back to Escaflowne. My favorite in the series is Dryden, mainly cause he's got the scruffily-cute, possibly a little nuts thing going for him. Love it when he leaves Millerna saying he's going to better himself and she says she might not be waiting. And then he says that he can make her fall for him because he loves her. See? There it is. If he was just one of those kind of guys that enjoys making women fall for him without actually caring for them back (a la Allen), I wouldn't go for him. At first meeting, Dryden tells Millerna they should get married because he's smart, rich, and it's what their families want, but he tells her later that he loves her; yay! Love it when they guys confess their love, even if it's too late or the girl doesn't know (see Cougar's confession in Scryed.)

Mishi - May 8, 2007 01:52 PM (GMT)
>_<

Awww. I, young innocent that I was, was more enamored with Van. I never saw the end of the series, and I was young enough to fall for the pretty wing thing. Also, Dilandau was psychotic.
