How long does it take to make a cosplay costume? And do you have to go with anyone? Cause if so I should have packed Nicole in my suitcase when I left icky AZ....On There is this con coming to Manchester NH near where I live which is in Nashua NH and well lets just say I may be going if I can get a good costume up and ready by February...which I Highly doubt...but anybody have any simple costumes I could make? Ideas are VERY much apreciated! I didn't spell that right...-_-; Anywho if so please e-mail me. thebeebaby@hotmail.com

well, let's see... all i can really suggest would be to find someone that knows how to sew that can help, or pick a really simple costume. What I did before i knew how to sew was just to run down to the local thrift store, you know, the kind that sell old stuff people used to own? Like the D.I. or the Goodwill? then find clothes as close to what you're looking for as you can, and modify them.

examples:
Gojyo (Saiyuki) -
1 white tank top
1 blue vest
1 pair of baggy khakis.
1 blue head band

not too hard to find, right?

or there's Dark Mousey of DNAngel, just find a really cool goth-ish outfit in black, then dye your hair purple and wear a pair of black wings.

or... let's try some female cosplay,

Utena!
1 pair red bike shorts
1 pair of shoes and high socks
1 black long sleeve shirt
1 pink wig

if you can't sew for all the decor, you can use fabric paints. they're your friend! so is the hot glue gun!

Tifa Lockhart, ff7 -
1 white mid-drift
1 black skirt
1 pair fingerless gloves

easy, ne? as long as you have an imagination, i think you could probably simplify just about any anime costume or come up with a sneaky way to make it look as close as possible... anyway, hope that helps!

Thanks for the help Pan Pan but I do know how to sew fairly well and I live with my grandma who said she would help. But the problem is I just don't know who to go as...I want to go as Inuyasha but well...that looked hard to make. Than I thought like Ronin Warrior...I just went from hard to impossible! I don't care what gender it is I just wanna go! but I want somebody who'seasy to act like....and is close to my personality....my friend suggested Washu from Tenchi Muyo. I don't remember what she wears so I would have to look that up later. Then my other friend said Yuffie or whatever she said her name was from FF7 cause I guess I it's because I have short hair. She showed me a picture and I almost killed her. I don't like to wear short shorts....*shudder* I just need to find some easy costume to make....I don't want to get this mega hard costume and not be able to finish it and then not be able to go! And also this is my first one so could somebody tell me what goes on there.....like what do you do? SO MANY QUESTIONS! Well as I said before you can also e-mail me with suggestions...just make sure you subject it as like suggestions or something so I don't delete it. And thanks again for the help Pan Pan

if you find a costume but the shorts are too short or the top is too low, or whatever - you can modify it a bit so you're comfortable. Whatever you decide to make the number one thing is to make sure you're comfortable. And make sure you have pictures from different angles of the costume.

I think the hardest part is deciding who to be.

I wouldn't think Inuyasha's costume would be too hard..? Pan~pan did one a few years ago.

The best idea is to decide who you want to be and then we could help you out in what you can do for those "impossible" pieces. ;)

yup, i did inuyasha a while back, one of the easiest ones i've ever done. i can draw up a pattern if you want? let's see... people with the same persona as washu or yuffie with fun costumes... you might try Zidane from FF9, he's cute and spunky and likes to steal things, so cute! and his costume doesn't look too hard. i REALLY want to do one of Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist. he's so funny and his costume is cute without being too difficult. Momiji from fruits basket could be fun and he has SEVERAL different cute outfits. I love the costumes from Kingdom Hearts, i think Sora or Riku would be cute and fun. um, what else... that's about all i can think of off the top of my head, but i'll let you know if i think of any other ideas!

You could always go as Eva Unit 1...That's what I am planning on going as...in about three years which is about how long it would take for me to make the costume :ph43r:

My friend Alicia said I should go as Bulma from DBZ. She says my hair is the perfect length and all I have to do is use temporary dye on it to turn it blue and then I'll be all set...it's gonna be the one she was wearing on Planet Namek...the yellow thing...yeah...but if someone knows where I can get a picture of it please tell me. Like from all sides I've tried but all the ones I've been to don't tell me.

Well I did a googel serch is this it?Pic

If you can try and pick up that episode and watch it that should give you a better veiw of the jacket
If you cant get a good enough pic just gusse (cause how is any one going to know? =^.^=)

Also school girl out fits are some what simple I did one for my first cosplay. Try braking any costumes you had in mind you'll find there simple then they first appear.
Also time wise you I depends on your skill leval I would recoment some thing simple and fast since you need it by Febuary itsn't fun finishing your costume the day of the con.......

A group isn't requierd but it is fun to have one.

If you want here is a good cosply site there very helpful
Cosplylabs

Just remember cosplay is all about haveing fun. I probley had the most fun wearing my kitty ears and tail that I made to be Artimis from sailor moon.

If you wanna make a costume I reccomend you start at least a month in advance 'cuz thats at least how long you're gonna need to design your costume and hunt down and gather all of your materials. It took around a week for me and my mom to finish my Crim costume for Metrocon, and that was just sewing it together and doing all the detail work.
