Title: Jake Smarter than Loki? For those who've read 35!
EddieBear2004 - August 28, 2004 12:29 AM (GMT)
I just finished reading number 35 today. I know, in my GIve Up on Sam thread, I said I wouldn't, but I couldn't help it. It was great! Ed was coming back into the picture, Gaia was Fearless, Loki was back, everything was going smooth except Tom wasn't there. It was starting to feel like the old fearless with Rodkes and Jake included. But this complaint isn't really about Tom. It's about Loki and Jake.
Somhow, Jake has become the genius and Loki is brainless. In the book, Jake figures out that Gaia and Invince are connected (no duh!!) but when Jake tells Loki, guess what? He didn't know that! He was talking about in his POV how he underestimated Jake!! And guess you found out who God is? Jake!! How come Jake is so smart all of a sudden Loki, the guy about 40 around now and with experience and brains, can't do any of it?? It makes no sense. I don't care if Jake is a prodegy (which he isn't), he just doesn't have the experience or spying abilities to figure this stuff out. Somhow he did. Who thinks that Francine is going insane aside from me?
But aside from that, it is the best one in the 30s so far! Pick it up!!

That pissed me off. It was stupid, terrible writing. I think Loki is 37, if he started spying at 18, and was in the CIA till he was about 20 or 21(when gaia was born) he has ?19??? more years experience than Jake. but anyway, that was soooo stupid! Loki is smarter than Jake and almost everyone in the series, he's proved that time and time again, and now he can't figure out something that a jock can! I mean, come on! What a way to try to make Jake look smarter! Why would they totally lose the charaters and the series like that? Anyone can see that Loki's smarter, it doesn't take a genius. (Okay, Jakes not dumb, but he's still no Loki)
Loki has all those resources, and he still can't figure it out!
Who the f writes these, cause I want to send them a letter about what I thought about that... and about the U.S. soldiers thing. The only reason I read Fearless is because of Loki, the plot, and finding out what's gonna happen to Gaia. Jake just got a VERY lucky break, is what I say. Maybe Loki was having a bad day when he didn't figure it out before Jake....
Mary Moss - August 28, 2004 02:12 AM (GMT)
Okay Jake Lurvers, i wasn't saying jake's stupid, I don't think he is, but I just hated how they wrote that. Oh well...
Raquel - August 28, 2004 02:22 AM (GMT)
Jake's not just a stupid jock, they're trying to make look smarter. Come on the whole time he's been in the series he's been pickin gup on things, tgey didn't make a big deal about it but he was. Loki isn't stupid either, for the second time in his life he just hasn't been able to see what was in front of him ( the first time being when he couldn't figure out the code, and tom who was still in college figured it out). Jake just put the pieces of the puzzle together, before loki did. That's all eventuall Loki would have figured it out. And Jake is closer to Gaia, if loki went to find god he would just see a kid, because he doesn't know chris rodke , jake does. Jake's closer to this because Gaia wont let Loki in her life that's why Loki needs Jake Because Gaia trusts him ( although she knows he's with loki she trusts him more than se does loki). So Neither are stupid and no i don't think Francine Pascla is going insane i really loved Exposed. And Loki started syping when he was 23 it said so in before Gaia same with tom although later that year for tom
Mary Moss - August 28, 2004 02:30 AM (GMT)
I dunno, maybe you're right, but Loki should have still figured it out, even if Jake did figure it out on his own
Raquel - August 28, 2004 02:31 AM (GMT)
true i was a little surpised too but blibs happen right?
Mary Moss - August 28, 2004 02:43 AM (GMT)
Jake's not stupid, but that still makes no sense.
So Loki does have some experience,he's been spying for awhile, not as long as Yuri, and he ran an organization for 10 years(I'm guessing) and he has some top hackers working for him, it just doesn't make sense that he didn't figure that out sooner.
Okay, so Jake can figure it out himself, that's fine, but Loki should have already known. And should be doing something about Skyler too, but he's just sitting around...
EddieBear2004 - August 28, 2004 12:44 PM (GMT)
exactly!! He's just sitting around like he's that dude from Godfather!! He needs to get up and work!!
Mary Moss - August 28, 2004 01:41 PM (GMT)
Yeah! If it was him, Skyler and the Rodkes would be out of the picture already, and Gaia wouldn't be in any danger. She still wouldn't trust him, but at least she wouldn't get killed.
EddieBear2004 - August 30, 2004 02:09 AM (GMT)
You notice that the POVs go back to saying Oliver?? In 34, they said Loki, but now they're Oliver again. What's up with that??
Mary Moss - August 30, 2004 02:16 AM (GMT)
Maybe they heard my complaints and theories that Oliver's really not Loki and decided to change it!! I don't think so....but it's good that it finally makes more sense. Or maybe they just made a mistake with the names on the POV's.. i dunno, i haven't read 35 yet
EddieBear2004 - August 30, 2004 08:24 PM (GMT)
I think the second one is more likely.

i though #35 came out in september...
EddieBear2004 - August 31, 2004 10:34 PM (GMT)
That's what I thought, but then I went to Barnes & Noble and there it was. I guess it came out early where I live. If you live in Georgia, about an hour away from Cumming, it's there.
Mary Moss - August 31, 2004 10:40 PM (GMT)
You're lucky...mine comes out 10 days late....

It doesn't sound very good...no Tom and Loki is an idiot....don't you think it's weird that all Gaia had to do was hide in a CLOSET and hear the whole thing? Wouldn't they have checked the building or something? That was too obvious, I was surprised when I got that spoiler.

Hi,Mary! i have not got 35 yet either,I live in Finnland, but here I got book s in net booksstores.I got 35 maybe in week or in week in half, although the books are not as good asthey were.I still want to read it
Raquel - September 2, 2004 07:42 PM (GMT)
dont worry marry it is very good
fearless_fan - September 3, 2004 03:51 PM (GMT)
it sounds pretty good from the way you described it in your first post.
Mary Moss - September 4, 2004 09:16 PM (GMT)
I just got it...it's pretty crazy.
EddieBear2004 - September 5, 2004 01:03 AM (GMT)
Yeah, some of the writing could use work think the Loki smarter than Jake thing, but I'm really really happy that Gaia is herself again!!
Mary Moss - September 5, 2004 01:57 AM (GMT)
The only reason Loki's lived this long is because he's the smartest. Jake doesn't have any experience, or any agents, I still can't figure out why loki couldn't figure it out himself.
i guess it was a good book though......
EddieBear2004 - September 6, 2004 02:35 AM (GMT)
Bad writing, I suppose. I mean, it's pretty obvious. Drug that makes you fearless, Gaia is fearless. I think part of it is to give Jake the "I'm a spy and it's awesome" feeling. If he didn't figure everything out himself, the feeling wouldn't have been as strong.
I'm sort of confused as far as Loki's role goes. He's not acting too much like a bad guy, he's just kind of there. Maybe he'll kill jake.:D Sorry Jake fans, but I do not like the dude that much. I've liked him more since Gaia Adubted (spelled it wrong) but still don't like him that much.
Mary Moss - September 6, 2004 02:00 PM (GMT)
I don't like Jake either, but he shouldn't be killed because then Loki would probably get in trouble for killing Jake.
EddieBear2004 - September 7, 2004 01:19 AM (GMT)
he's killed a lot of people, and he hasn't gotten in trobule yet!! Who knows!! Probably won't happen, but ya never know!!
Mary Moss - September 7, 2004 01:28 AM (GMT)
yeah, but before Gaia wasn't really sure who he was when he was Loki last, he blamed it on Tom and tried to convince her he was Oliver. and she didn't know that he was really Loki. But if he kills Jake, she'll definitely suspect him, because Jake worships Oliver now.
EddieBear2004 - September 7, 2004 10:34 PM (GMT)
got a point. Maybe Ed'll kill him! just kidding.

personally, i don't think that any other people should die. i think that #36 needs to be a big book that just finished all the plots and answers all the unanswered questions. i think that killing someone is just too big of an event to end a book with. because then you want to know the aftermath and all that good stuff.

yeah, true. Enough people have died for now. I just REALLY detest Jake, so I was imagining his untimely desmise!
Mary Moss - September 9, 2004 01:20 AM (GMT)
She's not gonna kill him off at the end of the series though...losing Gaia is enough. I'm not a Jake fan, but still.
