Title: Far From the Mountains...
Description: ...anyone?
rohanawyn - October 3, 2003 10:01 PM (GMT)
Saeble pumped her wings, tiring fast. It was unnerving being so far from the mountains, so far from shelter. Despite her size, the gryphon's instincts persisted. She flew faster, grateful that her muscles were as powerful as they were. Diving fast out of the cloud, she peered down at the forest beneath her. Beyond the forest was...
Rivendell. She guessed. She couldn't be sure. But, she figured, it would have to do. She hadn't eaten since noon the day before, and that was a day-old raccoon. The gryphon almost gagged at the thought of it. Awful. She dove farther down, just grazing the tops of the trees. About 10 lengths in front of her was a field... sort of. It was more of a patch of grass, but it would work.
Saeble made a graceful landing. Almost. It was better than most, but still painful. A tiny roll at the end, nothing else. She got up fast, murmuring, "I'm okay, okay."
Celebloth - October 4, 2003 10:58 PM (GMT)
Celebloth had been walking through the woods of Rivendell, exploring. She had been waiting for Ellie to come back, but then she decided to explore for a while. She saw some movement in a small clearing up ahead- a gryphon! She almost called out Koro! but then realized that it didn't exactly look like Koro. She was confused, though, for she had never seen a gryphon before today, let alone two. Maybe there was some sort of secret meeting going on nearby... but she would wonder about that later- here was someone to talk to! She stepped out of the trees and called out, "Hi! I'm Celebloth. Who are you? I can tell you're a gryphon, but what's your name?"
rohanawyn - October 5, 2003 06:26 PM (GMT)
Saeble ruffled her feathers, then grinned as well as a gryphon could. It was composed only of a parted beak, but most people could get the idea. "Saeble. Call me Saeb. I'm only passing through, I guess. Only...," She sniffed the air experimentally, then flexed her talons. Horses.
"I smell horses. Do you know if there are any nags that you... don't need? I haven't eaten since yesterday." The gryphon got up and started prancing towards Celebloth, hope glimmering in her eyes.
Celebloth - October 5, 2003 06:30 PM (GMT)
Celebloth gasped and replied, "Oh, no, the horses we have here are the riding horses of the lords and ladies who make their homes here. There are certainly none that you could eat, I am positive." She paused, then went on, "I can help you find some other food, though, if you wish... some wild game, perhaps..."
rohanawyn - October 5, 2003 06:42 PM (GMT)
Almost rolling her eyes as she thought, 'Of course. Wouldn't want to eat their precious horses. Even when I'm dying of hunger', Saeble murmured, "All right. I guess."
The gryphon then shook herself, realizing how rude she was being. After all, she HAD crash landed, demanding food. How would she have reacted if a human had come running smack-bam into HER cave, asking for a fledgling? Celebloth had taken that relatively well...
"Actually, on second thought, I can wait. Could you show me around? Then I can hunt on my own. And you can go on with whatever you were doing before I came falling from the sky."
Celebloth - October 5, 2003 06:49 PM (GMT)
"Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know my way around Rivendell very well..." she said, laughing at herself. "And I really wasn't doing anything when you landed, just looking for someone to talk to. But I'm a fairly good archer; I might be able to help you a bit." Then she thought of something- "You know, there's actually another gryphon around here... somewhere... maybe he could help you find where the good hunting spots are... if we can find him. I don't know where he went... but like I said before, I might be of some use."
rohanawyn - October 5, 2003 06:56 PM (GMT)
Another gryph? He? Intresting...
OOC: lol
IC: Saeble went on, "Well having someone to talk to is more than I had before. You don't know how cold it gets up there." The gryphon motioned towards the swiftly passing clouds with a flick of a talon. She flexed her wings and let out a soft screech. "Lead on then. Wherever you want to go. Except the stables."
Celebloth - October 5, 2003 07:00 PM (GMT)
"Well, why don't we try to find you some food? I might have some leftover from my trip in my bag- I just got back today- and in any case, I can help you hunt better if I have my bow," she said, then starting walking away. "Follow me, and I'll see what I've got at my camp."
rohanawyn - October 5, 2003 07:09 PM (GMT)
Saeble shrugged and followed Celebloth. The fact was that the gryphon would have preferred to catch her own food... but she was so hungry. Anything wounded good just then. "Do you mind if I call you Cel? Celebloth is hard to yell." Saeble cackled. "Just in case." She added.
Celebloth - October 5, 2003 07:18 PM (GMT)
Celebloth called back, "Sure. I've never had a nickname before, but I've always wanted one." They walked a bit further, and then Celebloth called out, "Here we are." She rummaged around in her bags for a few minutes, and pulled out some rabbit meat. "All I've got is this rabbit meat here- it's not raw, though, if that's the way you prefer your food." She picked up her bow and put her quiver on her back. "Do you want the rabbit? Or shall we go hunting instead?"
Kyra Goldeye - October 5, 2003 08:18 PM (GMT)
Korioan had been watching thier actions the whole time. He decided to follow them as they walked, careful to stay out of sight. He was watching Celboth now, holding up dried rabbit meat. It looked pretty gross, he thought to hisself. He saw a rabbit dodge by him nd ignored it. He was not quite him self today and he was transfixed by saeble. He made a gryphon grin. His blue-green eyes danceing. He made a slight noise as he stepped into view,
"Hello, My most beautiful gryphon" He purred, bowing low to the ground from his hind legs. His wings were slightly spread, the proper amount for her assumed rank. He looked up, "I am Korioan, But you may call me Koro." He was extremly polite, not standing up straight till he was done with his introduction. "Is there anything I can do to make you feel more welcome to rivindell?" He asking, the purr slowly fading to his perfect accent, with just enough gryphon left to be detected by only another gryph. He was watching her happily, glad to see another gryphon after his couple of weeks without them.
OOC: lol hormonal gryphon... this should be interesting
rohanawyn - October 7, 2003 09:28 PM (GMT)
OOC: oh yes...
Saeble winced at the rabbit. 'What have I become' She thought, but instead said, "Thanks. But - I think I have changed my mind. I most likely look horrible after you went through the trouble of getting it. But believe me, if I tried and it-"
"Hello, My most beautiful gryphon"
The gryphon's eyes drifted away from the nasty rabbit meat towards the source of the masculine voice. A gryphon. Probably the one Cel had been talking about earlier. He was bowing, the proper way. Ignoring the elf, she too bowed, perhaps a little lower than the other. "Koro? Call me Saeb."
'Saeble you are SUCH a sucker for flattery.' She ignored the thought, then went on. "I am not sure... what can you do for me?" Blinking deliberately, she turned back to Cel.
"You know what would happen. It would NOT be pleasant. Excuse me a moment..."
Celebloth - October 7, 2003 10:05 PM (GMT)
Celebloth smiled inwardly to herself- she saw what was going on... and she knew enough by now that her prescence might not be wanted at the moment. "Sure," she said. "I'll just leave you two to yourselves for a while..." She didn't know what she would do, though; maybe she'd go back to Ellie's house. As she walked past Koro she whispered, almost inaudibly, in his ear, "Saeble is pretty hungry- I'd find some gryphon-suitable food if I were you..." She grinned, and kept walking, looking back over her shoulder every once in a while.
Kyra Goldeye - October 8, 2003 02:02 AM (GMT)
"Well, food is something I could help out with, along with finding your way around, and possibly, if you wanna, a bath. It is actually very nice here." He said, staring into her beautiful eyes, his still happy and excited looking.
If anyone would understand me it would be another gryphon. And she seems so kind, and nice and beautiful and happy and beautiful and beautiful... His thought wondered off absentmindingly. Like most gryphons he was rather vain and was standing tall, feathers shining and gleaming in the afternoon sun. He had wings out partially to keep from feeling hot and he was standing on his hind legs.
rohanawyn - October 9, 2003 10:32 PM (GMT)
"Bath?" Saeble hadn't even thought of that. It actually ended up sounding good. "Umm... could we find something to eat? First? You do NOT know what it is like to eat a dead raccoon." She stopped. Maybe he did. Though it wasn't likely. Koro looked liked he'd rather starve.
The gryphon shook her wings out a little. Bath was right. She then pranced up to the attractive Koro and took her place beside him.
Kyra Goldeye - October 9, 2003 10:43 PM (GMT)
Koro chuckled, she sounded very discusted by the whole thing. "No, I don't think I would try to understand that either." He said, chuckling again. "So, food. Lets talk as we fly." He said Jumping into the the air and throwing open his wings, flapping slowly, watching her and waiting. "So, where did you come from?" He asked cosciously, hoping she wasn't as aware of her past as he was. He grinned gryphon like, following her very movement. He just wanted to lay down and talk with her for hours. Maybe she could even help with his memories. He trusted her more because she was another Gryphon She can hep me eventually, I know she can...
rohanawyn - October 9, 2003 11:11 PM (GMT)
Taking a running start into the air, Saeble caught up with the swiftly flying Koro and watched him intently. Her eyes drifted to his, and at that point she dropped her gaze back to hte ground. His question was... hard to answer. She wasn't quite sure how to put what had happened.
"The mountains." The gryphon caught an updraft and was momentarily off track. It also gave her time to think. Koro was trustworthy, yes, she was positive. But then again her past was a personal thing...
"Uh... all right. It was difficult. My brother was maimed in a forest fire a long time ago. He died later. My parents decided to let me travel after that. No big deal, I guess." A tear dripped noticeable off her beak. Watching it fall, Saeble wondered where it had come from. She didn't feel like crying. 'Must be that I haven't in a while...'
"What about you, then?"
Kyra Goldeye - October 10, 2003 12:52 AM (GMT)
Koro tried acting tough but he could tell his voice sounded angry. He was determined not to get upset though.
"I'm sorry to hear about your brother. I was a little younger then I am now, less experianced with defence in battles. I was caught by humans. The called me a monster. They left me for dead." He left it at that. He was not sure he could keep his voice calm any longer. He tried to move on to a hppier subject. "So what brings you to rivendell, I mean, I came cause I was dead tired but Why are you here? Same reason? Traveling?"
rohanawyn - October 11, 2003 05:38 PM (GMT)
Saeble winced at Koro's reply. She was sorry she asked. Trying to ignore the melancholy part, she answered him.
"Somewhat. I was aiming for the north, but did not get that far. Tired and hungry. But... I think I like it here... I doubt I will ever get to the mountains..." The gryphon trailed off to watch the scenery underneath. The trees were so green, and from what she could see, the people were happy. It really was nice. Much warmer than where she grew up. And more crowded. That was the part she was not so sure about. Of course, there was Koro, too...
Kyra Goldeye - October 12, 2003 12:05 PM (GMT)
Koro nodded, he understood. "Here is the best spot..." He said beak shut tight as he took a dive into the forest, there was deer hear, a rather large herd. He put his talons out in front of him, aimed at a deer. He was positive that Sae could cathc her own. He pulled the one he had killed towards him happily, he could always eat more.
rohanawyn - October 13, 2003 10:14 PM (GMT)
Saeble watched her companion dive into the forest. She followed his line of vision to a large herd of deer. Juicy, beautiful deer. Plump. The gryphon almost giggled on the spot, but was able to restrain herself. As Koro got the herd to scramble for cover, she watched carefully. Most were fast...
Ah! There! A nice, slow one. Fat. A doe without a fawn. Perfect. She dove down, though not very fast. 'Gods. This one IS slow...' She drove her talons into its neck, killing it fast. Grinning at Koro, Saeb took a huge mouthful. Her voice was muffled when she purred, "Elves have good deer..."
Kyra Goldeye - October 16, 2003 08:59 PM (GMT)
Koro was taking large mouthfuls. He had eaten earlier but he needed his nurishment. He nodded in agreement with saeble statement. He swallowed, "Very good."
He was glad no elves had come with them. His father had told him stories of many-a-non-gryphon-creature losing thier lunch watching thier race eat. He hastily took another bite, watching his friend eating as happily as he was. "Will that be fulfilling or will you need more?" He asked, nodding towards the deer she was eating.
rohanawyn - October 17, 2003 09:46 PM (GMT)
Saeble licked the last of the gore off her beak and wiped her talons against the grass thoughtfully. "I think I'm good... thanks. For helping out." The gryphon glanced at Koro, then back down again.
'He's so helpful...' she thought, 'attractive. Why is he messing around helping me???' Saeb blinked. 'Me. Annoying me. He most likely has a family to get back to.'
"If I'm a burden, you can leave. I don't really need anything else. I think I can find my way to the mountains now..." She flashed a brief smile and shrugged, though the gryphon really didn't want to leave Koro.
Kyra Goldeye - October 18, 2003 02:52 AM (GMT)
"You have to leave already!" He screeched. Then realizing how stupid he sounded he lowered his voice, "I mean, why do you have to leave so soon? Why don'tyou stay in Rivindell for a while?"
He knew it was obvious that he liked her, but why shouldn't she know. The longer he hid it, the less likly it was he would ever talk to her. So he might as well get it out in the open.
"You are beautiful... You are the most attractive grphon I have ever met... Please don't leave so soon..." He purred, half hoping she didn't hear. He glanced up, not looking her directly in the eye, but more of a ashamed glance then an honset one.
She hates me, she doesn't want to stay. I bet I am just a dumb fledging, to her eyes. stopping her from getting to the mountain and whoever is there that she likes so much. She probaly already has a mate anyways... He thought to himself, before shaking away the thought.
rohanawyn - October 20, 2003 01:28 AM (GMT)
Closing her eyes for a brief moment, Saeble turned and faced Koro again. Some cruel joke? Doubtful. Koro was NOT that kind of gryphon. She grinned. "And you are the most flattering creature I have ever met."
Saeb sidled next to the gryphon, rubbing her head against his neck. Warm... soft... "And attractive..."
Kyra Goldeye - October 22, 2003 12:39 AM (GMT)
Koro waited for her to lash out and ridicule him, but the cruel words did not come and she seemed to feel the same way. He rested his head on hers, happily.
"You are much more atrractive then I. You are... are... are amazing." He ended is exasperation. He seemed so tounge tied around her. And he copuld never find adequet wording for anyting he had to say. He lifted his wing, carefully placing it over her as a sign of affection and trust. He was making himself very vulnerable, yet he didn't care.
rohanawyn - October 22, 2003 12:48 AM (GMT)
Saeble sighed happily and closed her eyes. It had been how long since she'd had actual contact with another gryphon? For weeks her only contacts were air, water, and ground. All cold and unforgiving. She leaned heavier against Koro.
Where would this go? The gryphon was suddenly struck cold. What if something would happen? Koro could die, or find someone more attractive. She'd be left alone. And if something happened to her, he'd be left alone. Was it fair for her to be doing this? Koro had opened up to her, and he could end up hurt.
Feeling herself shiver, Saeble muttered, "A-are you sure? I..." She trailed off, feeling more tears drop down her beak.
Kyra Goldeye - October 22, 2003 12:57 AM (GMT)
Koro felt her shiver and pulled away, "Whats Wrong? Are you ok? Is it... me?" He asked meekly. He was afraid. Afraid that she wanted something more. Something she didn't think he had.
He watched her, watching for signs of detestment, or annoyment. He was afraid that she had someone else in mind. Perhaps she did have a mate and was just flirting. Maybe it was her way of saying thankee and she would be gone. Maybe she was just fooling around, seeing if she could lure the golden gryphon into her trap. But no, he told himself. She wouldn't do that...
rohanawyn - October 22, 2003 01:05 AM (GMT)
Saeble immediately hated herself when she recognized the look of fear in Koro's face. She could have killed herself on the spot. "No! No!" She rubbed her head against his neck. "No. I love you. Only you. I'm just worried."
'Great job stupid.' she screamed to herself, 'Now he has a reason to leave you.'
Kyra Goldeye - October 22, 2003 01:11 AM (GMT)
Koro's nerves were not eased. His eyes gleamed nervouly in her direction. "What could worry you?" He asked, seeking reassurence. Maybe it was just nervousness. Maybe she had never been in a relationship before.
The sun shown through the branches, which were swaying slightly now that the wind was blowing. Koro glanced up, and saw a baird hop to another branch. A bird, a bird with no worries, no need to care whether these gryphons saw him. He grew slightly irritated. How come he always was pained by things he though were right.
Koro looked at her. He looked into her eyes, and he trusted her, "I love you too, Saeble..."
rohanawyn - October 22, 2003 01:19 AM (GMT)
It hurt. Seeing Koro so pained hurt like nothing else. Saeble almost winced, but restrained herself. "I-I..." The gryphon didn't know how to put it. It was too hard. Too much to lose.
She paused, then realized. If Koro wouldn't understand, no one would. Even though they had just met, they were in love. Nothing small could change it. "Well, I guess it's senseless worry. I'm so stupid, is all. I - was worried that this may not be helpful. I've lost too many I have loved, and I don't want to lose you either. I don't want you to lose me. It's... risky." Saeble let her head hang limp, hating every word she muttered. She didn't want to cut herself off the way she was. yet it was happening.
Kyra Goldeye - October 24, 2003 10:53 PM (GMT)
"Nothing could keep you from me. I would always come for you, no matter what." Koro muttered, hoping that she felt the same. "I will not let you get hurt. I would not leave you. I will protect you. How could I feel any less. The one time that I want to live the most, I would die for you my love." He said. He was done with his heart felt speach and hoped she understood. He would not force anything upon her, yet, if she didn't understand then what hope could they have together. He already felt gratitude at getting it off his chest, he waited, in an awkward silence that he had brought upon himself, for an aswer.
rohanawyn - October 25, 2003 11:00 PM (GMT)
Saeble winced. Why was Koro so willing to risk? It seemed so easy for him to trust her. Was it fair? And at the back of Saeble's mind, she wasn't sure if she was as willing as he. Hatefully pulling that thought foreward, she made herself think about it.
Would she be willing to kill herself for this gryphon she had just met? Sure, he was very nice, and very attractive, and loved her. Wait. he loved her. And she loved him back. This realization hit her for the first time like a kick from a horse. She had known it before, and just took it for granted. Yet she really did love him. And wasn't love the feeling that you would not be able to live without another?
Saeble suddenly knew that love really was risk. It always had been, and always would be. The question was whether or not one was willing to take that risk. If one wouldn't take it, they would spend their life searching for love, yet unwilling to take it. The gryphon would never do that to herself. here was an opportunity. And she was there to take it and be with Koro.
"And I you. It was horrible of me to bring up." Saeble buried her head in Koro's neck feathers.
Kyra Goldeye - October 30, 2003 07:32 PM (GMT)
"Think nothing of it my beloved." He was radiating contentness, for the first time he had arrived her... no, for the first time since he left his parents, he was truely happy. He made a content little noise and leaned into her. He made a soft sound and he stared into her eyes, "Why were you going to the mountains?" He asked, knowing that Elindomiel would welcome saeble. "Do you have anywhere to stay while you are here?"
rohanawyn - October 31, 2003 11:18 PM (GMT)
Saeble blinked. "Long story. After my brother died my parents said I could leave home. They said that I would have to visit every year, though. That's where I was headed, but I'd rather stay here. Parents can wait."
At Koro's other question, the gryphon just shrugged. She really had no idea. "I'd be willing to sleep in a tree to stay with you."
Kyra Goldeye - November 1, 2003 06:41 PM (GMT)
Koro gave her a very large gryphon grin, "We shall ask selindomiel if I may share my sleeping quarters with you... We shall have to make nests though, seeing as how I am only using Elindomiels house until I can make my own." He carefully untangled his body from hers, "If you would like I can introduce you to those who I know at the moment. I can also show you the pond to bath in.."
He then added, "There is plenty of time though, so you tell me when your ready."
rohanawyn - November 2, 2003 08:18 PM (GMT)
Woah. Too many options all at once. "Uh, I guess... I could meet your friends... first." Saeble stopped. "But I'll do whatever you want..."
Ruffling her feathers a bit and stretching her wings, the gryphon was surprised at how much energy crying took. She was drained.
Kyra Goldeye - November 10, 2003 02:20 AM (GMT)
"Let us go to The home of Elindomiel. I believe we can find her there." He said, ears perked up happily. We can rest there and I think you need to meet her before she leaves. He gave her a gryph grin. "Besides, we need to tell her you shall be sharing my quarters..."
(OOC: Hope you don't mind but I am gonna go ahead and post with ellie in watching and waiting so join me and her there :P )
