Title: Mig Welders
Description: Opinions saught

Hi all,

3/4's of the way through welding UUG's new rear tub and bulkheads and my firckin Mig's packed in

Truth be told it's had some serious hammer over the past few years so I guess I shouldn't grumble.

The one I've just lost was a Clarke 150 Turbo and I was never 100% happy with the wire feed and coarse current control.

Can anybody recommend a single phase unit up to 30 Amps please?

As the welder is used a lot I'd like something that can take 15Kg reels with a "Euro" torch and all though I wouldnt use the facility very often the ability to weld aluminium and stainless would be a +.

I've been looking at the Clarke 220TE but before I blow £600 I'd appreciate any other recomendations.

Thanks,

Mick

I would imagine that you are already sorted but the MIG welding forums are a good source of advice and info

MIG forums

I bought a secondhand Clark 185 - 15kg reels and Euro torch - it's Huge with two transformers and rather robust electricals - old but it welds superbly - and only £75 :D if you have the space they are worth considering.

Hi Andy,

Yes sorted thanks, took advice from the very same forum and have ordered a Portamig 215.

I do quite a bit of welding so can (kind of  ) justify the price.

Many thanks,

Mick.
