Hi all,
After thinking about it for a few weeks I've decided to start rebuilding UUG again :o the nearer she got to being back on the road the less I was happy about what I had already done.
Main points for modification are the removal of the rear tub and replacement of the bulkhead / dash support framework.
Only minor surgery required then! :D
One of the things that I've noticed since I did the work a year ago is the amount of oxidisation on some of the V8's ancilary parts (water pump, timing case etc), as UUG is probably going to be off the road for a further year can anybody recomend a lacquer that can protect aluminium at engine temperatures?
Many thanks,
Mick.
They only get that oxide layer with salty air or very damp conditions - a regular wipe over with WD 40 works wonders as does keeping them dry.
Other than that - paint it with aluminium paint after giving it a good going over with a rotary wire brush.
Avoid lacquer as it never quite works and looks worse unless the surface its on is perfect.
get some photo's up
Andrew
Thanks Andrew,
Damp is my problem, my garage is built into the side of a hill, when we have heavy rain water seeps through the brick work!
Will try and put some photos up later.
Mick.

Following some minor surgery  the bloody awful tub and bulkheads have been "recycled", the ecomentalists are right "going green " does make you feel good!
Right, lets get the V8 back up and running :D :P :D
Mick.
Before anybody points out that the diff is touching the body I'd like to say that it's deliberate! :D
Imp top bush and mount removed!
Cheers,
Mick.
