Title: S1 Steering Column

Hi all,

Over the weekend I've been taking stock of what I need to do to get UUg back on the road, one of the only things I haven't touched to date is the steering column and I'm far from happy with it.

The current column is secured to the bulkhead via two u-bolts that clamp the outer sleeve, the problem is that with the u-bolts tight enough to secure the column streering isn't exactly self centering! :o

Could anybody tell me what the column is origionaly from (It's heavily modified with UV joints to get around the right hand exhaust manifold)?

I may be best making my own column from scratch so would also greatly appreciate any tube / bearing / mounting details.

Many thanks in advance,

Mick

Originally triumph herald/spitfire/vitesse - modded with whatever dutton had laying about - but typically 1/2" bore 1/8" wall tubing - with ball bearing type support bearings and modified allegro lower steering couplings.

Cheers

Andrew

Thanks Andrew,

If I can't find the relevant parts I'll make one.

Mick.
