Hi,

I've got a problem with my Phaeton S3. Wondering if anyone can shed some light as I have not get the first clue when it comes to the technical side of cars. It's running on a 2l pinto.
From cold, the engine takes a few seconds to catch (no real suprise) and seems to run fine.
After 10-15 mins and a couple of turn off & on's when I put my foot down the engine seems to be drained of all power (and feels like it's starved of fuel). It cut out when I missed first (got 3rd) and would not re-start. I lifted the bonnet & noticed what looked like air bubbles rising from the fuel pump into the fuel filter.
Once these had stopped, I retried and after a couple of seconds it caught. It seemed fine for the half mile home.

Anybody any thoughts on this one. Any help greatly appreiciated.

Far too many things it could be from the information provided.

How long has it been like this?
What carb?
What choke type?
Mechanical pump?
Last time it was tuned?

Best bet - find a mate who is good with cars to go through the whole thing
