Title: Series 4
Description: Fugly Fun - Part one.

OK - this should stop me getting into any more trouble. Needs a lot more work than it looks - Estimated completion, Easter 2008.

For those interested - 1700 crossflow, DCOE Weber, Piper 285, 4 branch manifold ( Plus points ) . Negative points are - None 5-linked axle, oil everywhere, no dashboard guages ( Anyone got any old smiths guages), windscreen chipped in drivers eyeline, wiring terrible, no weather gear, body scabby in places (So what - don't look at it, drive it!)

Looks better than my S4 did when I first got it. - And its nice that the bonnet has not been cut about for a carb filter to stick up through.

For the gauges do a bit more work on E-bay for Triumph stuff from Dolomite or Spitfire and that will get you a useful set even if the senders don't quite match up initially.

Having just got an old Premier wiring loom off e-bay for wiring up my B+ I can say that I am quite impressed by it and would recommend it for re-wiring a Dutton.

Weather gear is all available new from Polyfacto so theres no worries on that score and Screens are simple enough to get cut at a local glazer just take the old one as a pattern and get it cut from 6mm laminated.

Oil pressure washes off after working in plenty of gunk or similar and the body work will take a polish from Farecla G3 and might surprise you.

I took my car back to a bare chassis and converted to 5 link, 5 speed and a bit more I bought it in October 2002 and completed it in 2006 - But a couple of V8s got in the way in the mean time :D

My car when finished handled pretty well and with a mildly tweaked Pinto did not disgrace itself speed wise when the pedal was pushed to the floor.

Even though I now have a Westfield and a B+ V8 I still miss the S4 for its ease of use and its practical touches like the amount of room in it even though it was still a small car.

Cheers

Andrew

Thanks Andy !!!!

What's a premier wiring loom???

Help on the 5-link kit appreciated - the body's coming off in any case to paint the chassis, and it seems criminal not to 5-link it while it's off. - I'll stick a query up to that respect!

I'm a crossflow fan TBH - not sure why, just for fun, and this one looks good on paper if it's still healthy.

Sounds like a plan forming! - Keep the advice coming, cos I haven't a clue really.
