Title: V8 Engine Alignment
Description: Dutton P1 Engine Alignment

Hi all, almost finished with the chassis welding but would like forums views on whether the Rover V8 should be aligned so that the crankshaft is exactly at the centre line of the chassis or whether it is OK for it to be aligned 2.6 cm to the passenger side. Mine seems to have been set up for the latter by the previous owner I presume because it gives slightly more room for the steering mechanism and RHS of the gearbox where it meets the foot well.

Thanks

Barry

Mines 40mm over to the passenger side at least - And I am sure that my S1 had the RV8 over at a similar amount.

Space for steering - Pedal area room - weight distribution all being factors.

Cheers

Andrew

As Andy says, mine is 40 mm off centre, dosnt seem to cause a problem.

Mick.
