Title: Phaeton S1 V8 Build
Description: Bare build of my V8 S1

Barry-1 - June 18, 2007 09:51 PM (GMT)
Hi thought others might like to share some pictures of my v8 S1 during the build.
Its not been registered so has to go through the SVA at the end  but at least that will make it interesting. The welding on the original chassis is pretty poor (mig wire left on some of the welds) I guess this is so on most Duttons?

As you can see Im aiming to replace the bulkhead in steel (frame work yet to be built) and intending to add some lattice work to strengthen the bulkhead area.

There you go Rick - saves me the job - for the time being of posting the pictures of the B+.

Now you can see just how little ties the two sides of the car together.

I think in the past my car must have ripped the spindly original 5 link brackets off because they are now 5mm plate.

Picture speaks a thousand words

a bit more steel added to mine now and that was part way through - there is now an additional horizontal cross brace at the very back of the chassis and two tubular structs from the roll bar base down to the side going forward and rearward. And now there are seat backs and base frames which I have placed below the current chassis rail position which will lower the floor pan 1" - which effectively drops the seat height some 3"

P.S check out the priginal Panhard
