Well i've decided to install a zetec as last, finding a 1993 1.8 mondeo donor about 20 miles away for £50 done it.

It seems to start and run well and hopefully will install with the standard injection for now !!

I did think about bike carbs and megajolt, also bike throttle bodies and megasquirt, but decided to install as standard (might stick some 2.0 cams in if i can find some cheap ;) ) to start with.

The wiring is going to be a bit a fun !!, going to use try to use the whole loom as there's nothing except red wires and next to useless fuse box in the legerra already.

Its going to be quite a long upgrade but will try keep updating as and when something happens ;)

I've change my mind ;), now got bike carbs (CBR 600) not ideal but will do for now, megajolt and inlet plate cut.
Might even remove the zetec from the mondeo soon :)

As a bike and Dutt owner I've never understood the car engine / bike carb combo (or even fitting bike engines to cars for that matter)

In my opinion cars should have a > 200 bhp v8 & bikes should have a in line 4 screamer & never the twain shall meet!

Care to enlighten me?

Lol, i'm on a budget so using a £50 car doner (the 1.8 mondeo's zetec) but the injection system can be a ****** to use in anything else a part from the mondeo, so i'm going to use £20 carbs from a bike (a bit cheaper than webbers ;) )and a megajolt to control the spark as the zetec does'nt use a dizzy.
The bike carbs have a 37mm choke, but will need rejetting to suit and also a tps that i need for the 3d map, so should be fine.

i'm aiming for about 150bhp from the Zetec (it's 115 standard and 130 with 2.0 cams in)

I would love a V8 Dutton though :D , and Duttons are too heavy for a bike lump.

now going throttle bodies from a fireblade onto a ST170 inlet with ST170 fuel rail and injectors being controlled my megasquirt.

I've got pretty much every thing now so hopfully in a few weeks i might have some pics of a Legerra with a Zetec in !!

at last made some progress :D







All was going well, engine mounts sorted just need welding on. But got a whole new problem , cannot fit the throttle bodies on ( or the standard inlet manifold on ) :(, not enough space on the inlet side, the pedal box and some fibreglass are in the way !!
Not sure to move all the pedal box and steering shalf over a inch or two, or get floor mounted pedal box <_<

Hopefully more progress tommorrow :)

Ground clearance looks ok, but will get a escort sump as that should give me another 30mm clearance



Been a good couple of days, got to sort wiring for the megasquirt, sort a fuel pump and coolent pumbing :)

Then start on the bodywork and interior :huh:

Getting on well and looks promising - I will be interested to find out how you get on with the Megasquirt as I will be going the same route with my Alfa powered racer only trouble is I need to find out with the squirt system can run two coil packs as its a twin spark and whether or not I can run a system to operate the cam timing solenoid for the VVT system the Alfa has.

I guess I should have a search round the MS forums.

More progress today :)

Pedals have arrived and the Westy master cylinder.







Needs a little more adjustment so there level, but so far looking pretty good. The footwell is now about 4-5" longer.

Thought the front could do with a bit more airflow so made a new hole :D

The pedal box is pretty much in now, need to get brake lines and clutch cable sort though



Played with some primer to cheer me up, (nice to see some tidy bits for a change)





Paint fumes might have gone to my head, Hacked the bonnet in half :unsure: ( The shut lines have always been poor, and theres quite a bit of damage still to repair on the o/s front wing )

Made the front a bit tidier today :D

Got a Escort sump & pick up pipe today, fitted it and that let me fit a starter motor, also got about 30mm more ground clearance :)

Its now shown signs of life, only just ( about 5 seconds ) as not got cooling system sorted yet.

I'm a happy chap today, its another mile stone in the rebuild :D

Good to hear that progress is being made and it,s starting to come together and that it's running - albeit in short bursts.

Must admit that I am tempted to start the V8 up for a few seconds just to hear it rumble before I take the engine out again to complete the welding up of the steering routing and final chassis mods.

All the best with the rest of the build and look forward to the next round of progress pictures.

Thanks Andy, its finding time to play with the car with the 3 kids and a understanding wife ;) ( cars at a mates garage as well )

But feel like i've been making progress lately (not easy on a pretty tight budget !! )

Probley easy to use the pinto that was in there, but fancied something different ;)

I've dredded trying to get the zetec running on the throttle bodies and odds and sods ford parts as its been left outside (under a cover) for quite a while now, but looks fine :)

But having still fun :D

Its nice to see your still making progress on the B's and not just enjoying the westy :)

Little update as its been a bit quite about here ;)

Sorted most of the cooling out ( dunno if i'm using the old heater, looking about for something a bit smaller and modern)

Clutch cable Mk1 tested, Car moved about 10ft before slipping off the clevis pin :)

So making slow progress still, at least its moved now :)

Almost tumbleweed time but not quite.

Glad to here progress is continuing

hmm post was started just over a year ago............No record yet though ;)

Did'nt really start until August.

Not really worth showing pics at the moment unless you want to see messy wiring and phase 1 test cables on the pedal box, fuel lines etc ;)

The doors now have no handles on the outside and the boot is delocked

But i'll put a couple pics up :D

Oh any one got any ideas where i can get these clevis with grub screws from ?

Got the clutch sort now (i think !!)

Also got a throttle pedal :), its a bit all or nothing at the moment might see how i get on with it (might change the the pivot point on the pedal).

Its now moving under its own power.....just need brake lines sorted now instead of using the handbrake ;)
