Just completed a weekends marshalling at my local hillclimb Loton park in shropshire - had a great day - Bit of coursemarshalling on saturday and then on the start line on the Sunday - standing inches from a methanol burning Cosworth V8 F1 stlye cars as he guns it away from the line - keeps one awake - about the closest you get without taking part - also gives some great tips for when you want to take it up - I now know the best point to line up at Loton :P .
Anyway whilst doing my bit a 3.0L B+ Phaeton rolls up - bright yellow and ally - away he goes gunning the beast up the hill :ph43r: - I had a chat with him and turns out he is from just up the road from me in Oswestry. Although with a 3.0L engine we will not be running in the same class when I get mine on the track its nice to know I wont be the only one racing the Midlands hills in a Phaeton.
Would be nice to get a racing register going.
I am now looking to see if I can get my Dutt on Methanol - just for the smell :D
Cheers
Andrew
:ph43r: Buy yourself some Castrol R and pump it into the tank! Does no bloody good at all, but smells great! :D Glad you had a good time, thawed out yet? Register of racing Phaetons? Whats this, angling for a North South shoot out, eh?! :ph43r:
Mmmmmmmm------ castrol R (said in a Homer syle) - I am going to run my lawn mower on it as an incentive to cut the grass more often
As for thawed out - it was a fantastic sunny warm day :P - and besides, being on the start line with between 100 and 600 Bhp at regular intervals to keep me warm - no problem.
Don't know if it was the methanol or the sun but I have a nice tan now :D.
Thoght about running the x-flow on R but its not cheap stuff and loking at the way the valve stem seals move up and down with the valves  I dont think I could afford it. (head comming off to see whats going on by the way)
Why do you have to be awkward and have you're meeting the same day as Stoneleigh......... Git
Nah not a north south shoot out just - an encouragement for people to see the old wrecks still duking it out on the hills tracks and circuits. :ph43r:
