Title: Does anyone know my V8??

bagss2 - January 5, 2006 11:50 PM (GMT)
Hi there. I'm new to the world of Dutton ownership having found myself the proud new owner of the red Melos V8 (recently on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MEWA:IT )

I am interested to find out if anyone knows the car, the past owner(s) / builder??

It seems a well sorted car, if a bit of a handful!! Lots of fettling to do over the Winter, hoping to be on a few track days in the Spring...

Would love to hear from anyone with any info.

Cheers,

Paul.

Hello Paul and welcome to the world of Duttons!
I've only seen a couple of Melos v8's (I'm sure somebody said it couldn't be done but that's very plainly wrong!) but I don't recognise yours.
Will you be bringing it to any shows this year? You're most welcome to park it on the D.O.C. stand and perhaps one of them might recognize it.

Hi Phil

I sent off my DOC Membership Application & Fee last week so as yet don't have any details about any events this year.

I'd certainly love to have the car on the stand, after the tweaking and fettling has been done!! :o)

Many thanks - I hope to meet you at the events...

Cheers,

Paul.

Mark (Membership Bloke) probably has a bit of a backlog after New Year, you'll get the stuff through soon. Where in the country are you?

I'm in Knutsford, Cheshire...

Sorry it's taken so long to reply, i haven't been online for the last week or so.

What Dutton do you drive??

Cheers,

Paul.

I don't at the moment...
I bought a Melos back in 1992 (i think...) and used it as my daily drive for a few years. I sold it and bought a Sierra, used that for 7 years before getting rid of it. Two years ago i got my Melos back- in bits, and that's how it is at the moment, waiting for me to find space and time to deal with it!
We've also got a Vincent Hurricane and a Quantum to help with wallet emptying. ;)

Hi Paul I dont know your car but I have just bought a Melos as well but with a slightly smaller engine...... 1300 escort GT. Main reason i`m posting is `cos I live

Hi Curzon, we should get together for a beer when the weather gets a little warmer...

The Melos is currently tucked away in the garage before it goes to Automech Sports in Cadishead (nr Irlam) in a week or two for clutch bleed, rolling road tune and MOT (expired 2 weeks ago :()

Do you know of any other decent garages with Rolling Roads (pref MOT inspectors too) in the area??

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi Bluebottle

I just checked online what a Vincent Hurricane is - looks a handsome beast, nicely sporty but classic looking.

Which Quantum have you got?? I'd love an Xtreme... Will need to save some pennies - i'll keep my fingers crossed that the Melos doesn't prove too much of a drain in the meantime!!

Any plans to put the Melos back together any time soon??

Cheers,

Paul.

We've got an H4 with a 1800 Zetec. It's my wife's commuting car so it gets taken from Wycombe to Heathrow three times a week as well as any journey which dosn't need our Previa's space and seating capacity!
I'll start on the Melos as soon as I can get it from it's storage in Harrow onto our driveway here. I'll keep it as a 1300 but will put in a 5 speed box and change the brakes- it's drums all round at the moment :o
