Title: Help in front brakes

Lanseros - August 30, 2008 01:14 PM (GMT)
Hello, I´m trying to change the front disks of my dutton to a capri vented disks and when I go to install the disk with the hubs the diameter of the bearings is different... What I try to install is:
THESE HUBS WILL FIT MKI /2 MEXICO RS1800 ESCORT RS2000 1975-1980 2.8 CAPRI 1981-1988 MK1 CORTINA 1964-1966 & 1969-1970 MK2 CORTINA 1967-1970 WITH DISCS
and a vented capri discs.
And I really dont know what I have in my car...
I send you a pair of photos of what I have and what I try to install (please no comments abut it´s not necesary in a dutton...)
I dont know which piece of which car can install in my duttonn to put the big disks, or if all i need is smaller inner diameter in the bearings...
The distance between the bolts who catch the discs are diferent in each hub...
Thanks for all. Jesús.

Sorry but bad news :(

Thats an easy one - you have MK1 Escort early discs 8 1/2" and these have a small hub and use M or P12 brakes. None of the later hubs, discs or brakes will fit this upright.

You will need MK2 uprights and hubs to convert - or some MK2/3 Capri uprights and Hubs - Capri would be easier as you would not have to change the rack - With MK2 Escort uprights you will need to change the rack to a MK2 rack as well because the taper on the track rod end is bigger.

Cortina hubs have same bearings as EscortMK2 and Capri but are wider so do not fit the later stub axle let alone the early one which has small stub axle and bearings

Thanks Andy, do you know somebody who have a pair of Escort-Capri uprights for sale? (the most easy fiting for me please :D ) with or whithout the hubs, I bought it in ebay (2nd photo), Thanks for the answer, I´ve been all day reading and it´s not easy, but posible. I´ve read in the DOC that I must cut the uprights and I think must weld a pair of pieces to screw the upper balljoint no?. THANKS

The pedal box runing inside the car (fits perfect but have a little hole in the glass fiber that must repair in the left pedal area). You can see the master of the handbrake level in the photo too...
