Title: head studs
Description: any experience?

I'm about to remove the head on the pinto and have discovered that the studs are torx. I see that it is recommended that a new set is fitted each time they are removed.

Burtons charge £32 for a set but I found some here for £8.50 a set just wondered if anyone has any experience of the cheaper ones? Should I risk it?

I don't think that the head bolts are Torx they are Fords own and special tool is required not a Torx socket.

Its perfectly OK to re-use the bolts a couple of times but don't install using the angular torque method just use the old Cortina Capri method of a fixed torque - If wanting to be on the safe side then fit some new bolts but no need for ARP type.

The ones on that engine have been re-used once by the way and I would not have a second thought about re-using them.

Oh Blast! I ordered a set of torx bits this morning.

Do you know where I can get the special Ford tool for removing the head bolts?
