OMFG! AC is no longer in production... at least that's what I'm finding...
I'm trying to get a friend into it, and we can't seem to find a copy. Amazon.com doesn't even sell it now...
any ideas?

You are both right and both wrong.
WHen Turbine bought AC back from Microsoft, they stopped selling it. Oh you can still order AC:DM, but chances are high that no one has it in stock anymore, all the message boards have been filled with this for quite some time now.
On the up side, Turbine is working on an expansion pack that will hopefully add new stuff to the game and put it back onto the market.
