Okay, I keep hearing the same question: What are the elements?
So I'm going to post this to make everything clear.
The Elements you may choose from are:
- Earth - Control everything solid and made of stone, sand, dirt, etc.
- Fire - Control all things flaming, you must create the fire before you can control it.
- Wind - Control the 4 Winds: Tundra of the North, Breeze of the West, Flame of the South, Fog of the East. (keep in mind these are names, u don't control snow, fire, and fog with the winds.)
- Water - Command the element of Water. Create waves or bursts of water. You must be near water to control it, you cannot just have it materialize.
- Spirit - Control all general spirits, living or dead.
- Holy - Control all things Divine.
- Shadow - Control all things Cursed.
Having a certain element will make some mage spells stronger, and others weaker, think tactically when using magic because of your element. The same can be said for charged attacks. Think of the element or the constitution of your foe before using your element. And just as a reminder: you may only have one element.
Okay, I'm going to get a little more detailed with this, now.
For the Wind element, you may do the following:
Call up gusts of wind (if there is already a slight breeze, of if you're in an open area. This does not apply indoors, or in close-quarters, like mountains or canyons). You may also make SMALL cyclones and direct them in any direction for up to 45 feet. The cyclones are only able to lift 1 person, maybe knock a few others back in the process, but no hurricans or tornados or anything of that sort.
For the Water element, you may do the following:
Freeze it into ice, heat it into vapor, condense vapor into water (small scales only, you're not going to vaporize the Carpean Ocean or Innar Channels :P). If you're near an ocean, you can call forth waves (you may do this while near the ocean in a port city, or on the beach, or on a cliff. But note that the water won't do much on a high cliff cuz you can't generate a wave that big. NO TSUNAMIS! That's a combo of wind and water... Which you CANNOT DO. ^_^
For the Fire element, you may do the following:
Make it spread quickly (if you do this then you cannot stop it). You may direct it in a direction, or in various directions (does not apply if you tell it to spread like wildfire). You CANNOT tell it to extinguish itself. You may also make it raise or lower in temperature to a point. (Blue flame - hottest, small orange flames - smallest). This temperature change is only temporary, lasting about one to two minutes.
For the Earth element, you may do the following:
You may break the earth asunder and send shards of rock jutting up at your enemies, blow up large stones that already jut out from the earth's surface, sending the shrapnel in all directions (this also hurts you sometimes unless you have a shield of sorts). You can also raise pillars of earth beneath your foes, throwing them high into the sky. Heavier enemies are just lifted into the sky, then the pillar drops back into the earth leaving the target to fall to its doom.
For the Spirit element, you may do the following:
You may summon up whisps to distract or irritate large targets, but they can be dissipitated like small puffs if clouds if stomped, slapped, punched, etc. They vanish after 2-4 minutes. You may also summon up a single spirit of a warrior, strong enough to take physical form to fight for you for 5 minutes. These spirits are weak, but work as diversions. The type of warrior depends on where you are:
Outer Rim: Elven Rangers / Druids / Clerics, Human Clerics, Dwarfish Bowmen, Dwarf Knights, Axemen (Dwarves)
Avalon: Human Mages, Human Knights
Hypeltheon: Human Rangers
You may also speak to the spirits, the older the spirit, the harder it is to speak to. As spirits age, their language alters and becomes more archaic. The eldest spirits can only communicate with elves because their voices are very weak and soft, and their tongues are very ancient and mysterious. But humans who can control the Spirit element can speak to more youthful spirits with louder voices and more recognizable languages.
For the Holy element, you may do the following:
You can bring down a pillar or ring of blessed light that will smite any single cursed, evil, or undead creature within it (demons and arch demons are exempt). You may also speak to the lesser gods of Hypeltheon. Such gods include the gods of all 7 of the elements present in Hypeltheon. The God of Greater Creation is dead and has been so for several thousand years. In speaking to the lesser gods, you may also ask them for aid, which will allow you to perform **1** action of another element. In doing this, you lose touch with your own god for a time because you've asked a favor of your god and technically... you owe 'em one. ;)
If you happen across an Archangel or Angelic Being you may also converse with them. They speak in ancient and archaic tongues that only those affiliated with holy things can translate and comprehend.
Those of holy affiliation may also put a sense of purpose and courage within fearstricken peoples which may cause them to perform unheard-of acts of bravery if even for a short period of time.
People of Holy affinity are weak against Demons or anything cursed / evil.
For the Shadow element, you may do the following:
The most prominent technique that is performable by those who have a strong affinity to the Shadows is taking the shadows of themselves and others and creating a great mass of darkness that cannot be pierced by the greatest of lights. This can be used to confuse or block someone's path, or to hide a trap from someone, or to simply hide someone in general. They may also speak to ArchDemons or Demons. This is a dangerous practice due to the silk tongue of the Demon and Arch Demon. They may be evil, but they posess the ability to twist the will of lesser creatures to serve their own ends. However, those affiliated with the shadows may twist the will of lesser cursed creatures to their own will. That is, assuming, that there are not greater evil forces nearby. Such forces include: Demons, Arch Demons, and The Gate itself.
Anyone affiliated with the Shadow race is exceptionally weak against Angels and other divine beings.
Ok, I'm assuming that the rules for what races and classes are most proficient in elemental control still apply...yes?
This would have been better suited for the Questions and Comments section, but yes. Only those Race / Class combinations that are proficient with Magic may manipulate their elements.
