Shields count as heavy armor, and as such may only be used by classes that can equip heavy equipment. They use up one free hand, and are effective in guarding against arrows (if the wielder is quick enough) and enemy blows; also especially handy for heavily armored warriors when defending against blunt attacks.
Lvl 1 - Wooden Shield – 1,000
- A wooden shield, usually circular and about two feet in diameter. Often has a metal rim for stability. Will not protect against slashing or blunt attacks as well as the other shields, protects well against arrows. Arrows will usually stick in the wood and not be deflected, as is the case with other shields. Lightweight.
Lvl 3 – Buckler – 2,000
- Small metal shield worn on the forearm. Offers moderate defense against both slashing and blunt attacks, but its limited size makes deflecting blows difficult. Lightweight.
Lvl 10 - Round Metal Shield – 5,500
- About the same size and shape as the wooden shield, but much sturdier. Deflects blows well and is sturdy enough to stand up well to both slashing and blunt attacks. Somewhat heavy.
Lvl 17 - Kite Shield – 9,000
- Also about two feet across, but about three feet from top to bottom tip. Large and not as wieldy as the round metal shield, but offers more protection due to its size. Stands up well to both slashing and blunt attacks. Rather heavy.
Lvl 22 - Tower Shield – 11,500
- Very large shield primarily used by defending troops to guard against projectiles when holding a position. About two and a half to three feet across, and is about four feet tall. Solid as you can get, offers the best protection against slashing and blunt attacks of every piece of equipment available to buy. Really friggin’ heavy. Not recommended for standard combat due to its unwieldiness; unless you happen to be very strong or just want a nice big plate on your back to protect against arrows. When worn on the back, wearer can pretend to be a turtle.
