Description: Leg Armor

Baerholn - June 18, 2004 09:30 AM (GMT)
Here you buy armor to protect the feet and legs. You may only equip armor up to the weight class that your character can wear. Rangers for example may wear up to medium armor and so may purchase light and medium weight leg armor, but not leg armor of a heavy weight class. Only one piece of leg armor may be worn at a time; it is not permitted to wear both a medium and heavy leg armor simultaneously. Two pieces of armor from the same weight class may not be worn at the same time.

Generally speaking, the heavier the armor, the better it protects the wearer. So light armors offer limited protection, but do not heed movement much at all, medium weight class armors make movement slightly more difficult, and heavy class armors moderately slow down the wearer, but offer great protection. However, while heavy armor will easily withstand most slashing attacks, blunt attacks, as from a mace or war hammer, will still deal moderate damage. This is due to their actually being designed to penetrate the defenses of heavily armored troops. Also keep in mind that a solid hit from a blunt attack will dent the armor, possibly crushing whatever soft flesh and bone is encased therein. Have fun!

Light Leg Armor

Lvl 1 - Leather Boots - 500
  • Simple leather boots, any length. Offers minimal protection for the feet and lower legs against slashing and blunt attacks, but do protect against sharp little pebbles on the ground.
Lvl 3 - Knee Guard – 1,500
  • Knee pad or metal covering, helps to guard against (predictably) knee injuries. Protects well against slashing attacks and moderately against blunt attacks. Offers little to no resistance to movement.
Lvl 6 - Leather Boots & Knee Guard – 3,000
  • A simple combination of leather boots and knee guards, with all the benefits of both.

Medium Leg Armor

Lvl 8 - Plated Leather Boots – 4,500
  • Standard leather boots with a metal shin guard. Protect the shins well from slashing attacks and moderately from blunt attacks. Not very heavy.
Lvl 10 - Plated Leather Boots & Knee Guard – 5,500
  • Plated leather boots with a knee guard attachment. Conveys all the benefits of both plated leather boots and knee guards, with all the benefits of both. Not very heavy.

Heavy Leg Armor

Lvl 14 – Greaves – 8,000
  • Full metal casing for the lower legs, includes knee protection. Can withstand slashing attacks and moderately protect against blunt attacks from all angles of the lower legs. Somewhat heavy, making movement more sluggish than with plated leather boots.
Lvl 20 - Full Leg Regalia – 11,000
  • Complete with greaves, cuisses, and poleyns (the thigh and knee guards). Fully protects the legs from slashing attacks, and provides good defense against blunt attacks. You can’t buy better leg defense than this.

Valcrist - July 9, 2004 03:32 AM (GMT)
Hmm. Comfortable. Relatively light. Valcrist wrapped his knuckles on the new steel. Seems solid enough. I like them.

Valcrist took his items to the clerk and laid them upon the table in front of the salesperson. They still bore the scent of new leather.

"I'd like to purchase these please."
"Plated leather boots with kneeguard...that will be five thousand, five hundred gold."
"Very well. Here you are, sir."

Valcrist winced as he put his money upon the table. He could afford it, comfortably. But having grown used to hoarding his money for so long, and with the knowledge that he would have many more purchases to make, it was difficult to lighten his purse by such a degree. Still, the boots would prove to be a great asset to him, as would the rest of his new equipment. He put them on and left the store, ready for his next stop.

Alkioth - July 11, 2004 07:20 PM (GMT)
Alkioth's last purchase would be leather boots. It was a step down from his last pair -- a big step down -- but it would suffice. His last encounter had taken everything from him but his sword and gold.

"Thank you, sir, for the boots."

"Nonsense. Thank you for the business."

Alkioth nodded to him and left. The boots weren't as comfortable as the sandals, but he would manage.
