Here you buy armor to protect the hands and arms. You may only equip armor up to the weight class that your character can wear. Rangers for example may wear up to medium armor and so may purchase light and medium weight arm armor, but not arm armor of a heavy weight class. Only one piece of arm armor may be worn at a time; it is not permitted to wear both a medium and heavy arm armor simultaneously. Two pieces of armor from the same weight class may not be worn at the same time.
Generally speaking, the heavier the armor, the better it protects the wearer. So light armors offer limited protection, but do not heed movement much at all, medium weight class armors may make movement slightly more difficult, and heavy class armors moderately slow down the wearer, but offer great protection. However, while heavy armor will easily withstand most slashing attacks, blunt attacks, as from a mace or war hammer, will still deal moderate damage. This is due to their actually being designed to penetrate the defenses of heavily armored troops. Also keep in mind that a solid hit from a blunt attack will dent the armor, possibly crushing whatever soft flesh and bone is encased therein. Have fun!
Light Arm ArmorLvl 1 - Leather Bracers - 500
- Cool little armbands that protect against whips and other attacks that might chafe.
Lvl 1 - Leather Gloves (may not be used with rings) - 500
- Basic leather gloves. Protect the hands from cuts and bruises and let you take things out of the oven without burning your fingers.
Lvl 3 - Fingerless Leather Gloves – 1,500
- Still just leather gloves, but allow more freedom of finger movement, making it easier for bow-users to let one fly. No help with hot pans though.
Lvl 6 - Light Metal Bracers – 3,000
- Leather bracers with the added bonus of a thin metal band around them. Could even be used to deflect knife attacks!
Medium Arm ArmorLvl 4 - Arm Pads – 2,500
- Leather arm guards with some sort of padding attached, perhaps more strips of leather or pockets of wool or something. Be creative. Protect against blunt attacks better than any light arm armor, but somewhat susceptible to bladed attacks.
Lvl 7 - Metal Bracers – 4,000
- Metal wrist guards that can stand up fairly well to attacks. About as defensive against blunt attacks as arm pads, but offer better defense against slashing attacks than light metal bracers.
Lvl 10 - Plated Leather Gloves (may not be used with rings) – 5,500
- Just as tough as metal bracers but offers a wider area of protection on the arm. Can reach as far as just before the elbow.
Lvl 11 - Fingerless Plated Leather Gloves – 6,000
- Like the plated leather gloves but make archery and nose-picking easier.
Heavy Arm ArmorLvl 15 – Gauntlets (may not be used with rings) – 8,500
- A metal guard completely protecting the lower arms and hands. Essentially nullify most slashing attacks and guards well against blunt attacks. A little heavy.
Lvl 20 - Full Arm Regalia (may not be used with rings) – 11,000
- A complete set including vambraces, the upper arm guards; cowters, elbow guards with a funny name; and gauntlets. Great for all your protective needs, and can stop a sword with little trouble. Just be wary of war hammers. A little more heavy than gauntlets alone.
