Background: Krystianna had a very pleasant childhood. She grew up in a small, peaceful farming village on the outskirts of Avalon. War was kept far away and the town prospered with wheat trade. She and her family, a mother, father and younger brother, lived as field workers and part-time defenders of the village. Her father, a strong fighter with great sword wielding capabilities, defended the farms and houses from stray attacks by monsters and thieves alike. Her mother, on the other hand, trained in the art of healing as a cleric and stayed by her husband’s side when fights… “went awry”. Needless to say, they made a great team and they raised Krystianna and her brother, Terin, as best they could. Terin tended to take after his father, always running around with dad’s practice sword, a heavy piece of metal almost as tall as the boy, and Krystianna tended to take after her mother, learning all she could about healing and “The Faith”, never once questioning the teachings.
Things continued this way for a number of years, Krystianna grew and developed clerical powers and her brother got better with his sword. Things seemed to be perfect until the day after Krystianna’s tenth birthday. During the night, when the town was dead asleep, a roving pack of bandits attacked the village looking for food and valuables. The town, taken by surprise, fell quickly and when a house was sacked of its goods it was immediately burnt to the ground with the residents inside. Of course, her mother and father arrived on the scene as soon as they could. However, a well-placed arrow ended her mother’s life and thus wiped out he father’s healing which he would soon find he would need. Her father would put up a valiant struggle against the thieves but their numbers, combined with his broken heart at seeing his wife’s death, soon overtook him and he was slain rather unceremoniously by a pikeman. Krystianna and her brother, as instructed by their parents had fled into the woods but as soon as Terin heard the battle sounds fade and the bandits still alive he rushed back to the town wielding his father’s practice sword. Of course it almost goes without saying that Krystianna chased after him trying to stop him but her brother, being faster then her, reached the village and attacked the first bandit he saw. His efforts would amount to little more than a gashed knee however, as the bandits quickly overpowered the boy and disarmed him. Rather than kill him right away as they had done to the other villagers, the bandits decided to take the boy with so much energy and hang him by his wrists from a nearby tree. All the while, Krystianna had huddled by a surviving house, powerless to stop them by her own strength. With no chance of thwarting the bandits by her own power she collapsed to her knees and prayed her hardest for a miracle to save her brother.
It would not come.
The bandits soon found her once Terin was killed by practice shots fired by their archers. However, the beautiful face she inherited from her mother prevented the bandits from slaying her then and there as the head bandit took a liking to her. She soon found herself traveling the countryside with the bandits, kept more or less like and animal, tied to their carts a night so she couldn’t escape. She was often forced to heal the bandits after their raids and she had to put up with the constant snickering of the bandits as the tended to admire her young looks. It would be two years traveling with them before she found a chance to escape as one night the head bandit dragged her into the woods away from their camp after the gang had sacked a winery. In his drunken state, the head bandit hadn’t expected or planned for Krystianna to put up a fight when they got out of earshot. They struggled for twenty minutes before Krystianna managed to steal his dirk from him after he hit his head on a tree. She stood over him for a few moments, with the dirk held high over her head. Thoughts of all her teachings ran through her head, she wrestled with herself whether or not she could take someone’s life away. Her grip weakened on the blade for an instant letting the bandit fumblingly counter-attack. The shock from him scraping her knees combined with the memory of her brother was enough to send the dagger plunging into the bandit’s back, straight through to his heart, spilling his blood on her. Soon, after running away and washing off the blood in a nearby creek, she renounced her teachings and gave up believing in deities.
Fast forward 7 years. Krystianna has matured into a fine young woman and finally accepted her families passing. After realizing she can take matters into her own hands, her attitude has shifted to her being a slightly reserved individual who doesn’t lip from anyone. Her experiences with farming and even thievery have served her well in making money to live off of and even by a few nice white robe she now wears constantly. Of course, the real joy is her using her powers of healing to help anyone in need, a service she takes no payment for. She still has no faith in her deities and does not plan on renewing it in the future. She believes can take care of herself in the world without help from a higher power and that her own abilities will lead her on a path to great things. She hopes she will find her own destiny healing those who fight on the side of good.

(Aaaah, that was fun. I'd forgotten how cool making characters is. ^_^ )
