Backstory:
Shadow left his room at the inn much earlier then anyone should. His quest for today was to find a ship going to Tharkas Castle, sail it, and find a new home. Shadow was in a hurry however, the Law Enforcement troops knew of his whereabouts, and were hot on his trail. He had caused a bit of a ruckus in a tavern last night, and was not going to surrender to his deed, no not when we was this close to it. Shadow was looking for more then a new home; he was also looking for a legendary staff, able to turn its wielder invisible. Shadow had to have it. With it he would be unstoppable.
~As soon as Shadow got to the docks, he waited in an alley close by. Looking around, he saw a guard half asleep at his post. Behind him was one of the biggest trade ships Shadow had ever seen. Shadow saw at his feet some pebbles. He picked them up and with ease, flew them at the guard and hit him square in the forehead. He fell, unconscious. Shadow slipped by and aboard the ship. From there he made his way do to where the shipment was being held. He made himself comfortable, laying his legs on the wooden boxes. Making sure he was concealed completely, he dozed off.
Shadow awakened with a lurch. He heard movement above him, and got ready to move as soon as the walked down to get the goods. As they walked down, he slipped past them and made his way to the docks.
"Hey what are you doin here?" A man said.
Shadow heard swords being drawn, and ran into the crowds of people on the docks. The sailors lost him in the crowd then forgot about him. Shadow relieved, went on. He searched high and low for the staff of wonders that he had dreamed so much about. He could not find it. He settled down in an inn and asked where he could find a job. The keeper gave him many selections. Thanking him, Shadow went out into the daylight. He went to first to a small house on the corner of two shops. He knocked on the door and was immediately surprised to see it swing open. and old man standing in the frame. Shadow was welcomed in. The man said he needed a task done that would require skills and people skills. Shadow agreed. The man asked him to go to Rionolianthu to acquire a gem from an old friend. In turn, the man would tell Shadow a secret of how to find a huge treasure. The man gave him some money and Shadow used it to board a commercial ship back to Rionolianthu.
~Shadow arrived there and quickly made his way to the person’s house. An old maid showed him in and gave to him a golden box. Inside Shadow saw the jewel. With this acquired, he began his way back to the ship when he heard a familiar voice.
"Stealing again...I'll get you for sure this time!"
Shadow spun around seeing a knight in armor, with a full troop behind him. Shadow broke for it. He steeped into a crowed of people boarding his ship back to Tharkas Castle. The men lost him once Shadow locked himself in a broomcloset. Once they arrived shadow made his way back to the old mans house. He knocked on the door, but no one answered. He tried the knob, it was unlocked. Shadow entered cautiously into the 1 room house. In a tall captain’s chair next to the fireplace, Shadow saw the old man. He was dead. A slit in his throat. Shadow then noticed something on the mans hand, that he hadn’t before. It was a symbol. Once that Shadow knew very well. It was the one of a gang, a roving gang that would stop at nothing to get its target. Shadow was one of the gang’s targets. Shadow left the box in the mans hands, he did not want to be here when the law enforcement arrived. He left swiftly and noticed it was almost sunset. Shadow went back to the inn to rest.
