Title: ... Falling Friends...
Description: Beseiged.

Derhlith - November 30, 2003 08:35 PM (GMT)
After the first battle had been won, the White Cloud that had gone across the river went from 5,800 to 4,600. This was a grevious loss for the first battle, but now they had their defenses set, and were prepared for the next wave. After a day or two of silence, the Unluthians had been bolstered with an extra 300 troops in the form of militiamen, bringing their numbers to a meager 500.

Across the fields where battle would ensue the Knights could see Orc encampments where supplies and more troops were constantly being brought in from the Gate. It was almost as if the evils within it had been preparing for their release once again, over a thousand years of preparation only to bring them to this final destination: destruction.

Over the course of the next week there would be several small battles, a few hundred Orcs would run through and kill a few hundred Knights and Militia before being obliterated. No reinforcements were coming to save these troops. Across the Easulan River Tharkas was preparing for the worst. All their history books had told them that a war in Unluthio can't be won. It's just not strong enough, nor is it well defended. So preparations were made to defend their borders. The Two Daughters and Iron Crag were repopulated with thousands of Knights, White Cloud poured into the trade city of Easulan, pushing the markets out to Bylet, some 12 or 15 miles away. Camps were set up along the Southern borders of the Easulan, Orcs weren't going to break through their lines on that side in this war. Across the Northern borders of the River between the Checkpoint and the Iron Crag were several Knight camps.

They also had many boats from Helineth traverse the Innar Channels and swing up the delta into the Easulan. So now the Tharkan Navy was in the river. They weren't going to fall so easily.

Meanwhile in Unluthio the war was going poorly. By the end of the second month of Tharkas's presence their numbers were less than half: 2,400 Knights and 300 Militia. Morale was low, willingness to fight was even lower than that. None of the soldiers wanted to be there anymore. Wren's Raiders and Asura's Honor Guard were the only ones left fighting. Not even the Unluthians were putting up a resistance. They'd forsake their homeland for some peace and quiet.

One dreadful day, March 24th - 1202, the line broke. Orcs and Goblins spewed across the defenses and split the Knight's forces in half. Wren and his 1st Knighthood, along with another squad: some 250 Knights put together, were separated from Asura's 3rd Knighthood and many other Knights. The militia of Unluthio along with many White Cloud were swallowed up in the incident.

Wren and his Knights fled into the foothills of NorthEastern Unluthio in hopes of finding shelter and proper defenses there. Asura and the remaining White Cloud, some measly 800 Knights, made a full retreat towards the Vieth Plains and the Easulan Checkpoint. By this time the Checkpoint was fortified by the White Cloud.

Over the next six days Unluthio would be completely overrun by Orcs, Goblins, Trolls, and Demons. The next battle was soon to follow.
