Title: New Ooc Board
Description: Complaints - for when you just gotta
Baerholn - October 14, 2003 04:22 AM (GMT)
Ok, new section up for all of you folks who feel you need to give us hell for screwing something up somewhere. Hopefully this will only see constructive criticism, but it is, above all else, for complaints.
Azhure - October 14, 2003 05:35 AM (GMT)
I like this idea, but some people may not want to post there in fear of more arguments. Would you guarantee that it isn't a place for arguments? Frankly, I don't feel too strongly about certain things are that currently irking me but I'd like to address them, and I'm not about to deal with bitching from other members.
Bolindad - October 14, 2003 05:40 AM (GMT)
Well, if you open a place for complaints, there has to be a place for Rebuttle...so either way you would have to put up with people bitching.
Azhure - October 14, 2003 11:37 PM (GMT)
Not necessarily, but I guess it can't be avoided here.
Bolindad - October 15, 2003 12:03 AM (GMT)
Well, if no place for rebuttle is aloud, then a place for complaints shouldn't be....Tho I guess you could lodge a complaint about the other persons complaint. Personally I dont think it would be fair if some one placed a complaint baout me, and I couldnt defend myself.
Azhure - October 15, 2003 12:17 AM (GMT)
Okay, I agree with you there but I'll stress what Alkioth has been trying to get around on the boards. The purpose of this forum isn't to bitch at each other as much as possible. We're supposed to be roleplaying and roleplaying should not be such a serious issue, but many of us allow that to happen. And I will totally admit it, I am one of those people.
I'm not saying it isn't healthy to argue, but if people would be able to defend themselves in a more orderly manner, then perhaps there could be some cooperation. People also have to consider what the complaint is about, they can't just argue because something is being said against them. And just like what Baerholn said, the board is supposed to be for constructive criticism.
Can't we all just be friends?
Crestierem - October 15, 2003 01:11 AM (GMT)
Friends? PSH! Who needs them? Just kidding! Just kidding. :P Anyways, it can't really be helped. There will always be debates no matter which forum you join, no matter what purpose the forum has. From RPing, to a forum about ONE particular game, there will always be pointless arguing. <_< Like what we're doing right here and now. Kind of pointless, don't you think? Anyways, I do agree with both of you however, and our points have been made, so let's just leave this board for what it was made for: Constructive Criticism. ^_^ Otherwise this could go on forever. -_-

The thinking behind this section was that it could be a place for people to state what they just didn't agree with, and then get a direct, public response from anyone on the site who has input. Also this way instead of one person PMing an admin with a problem, they could post there, and others would have the chance to support him or her, for extra support on a big problem. The nature of running it this way does mean there would be debate, but any extreme language or actions taken on the board would be addressed, and if harsh enough, taken out completely. In general though, we're just hoping for a place where people can actually get to problems and address them before they turn into huge issues. Oh and I was hoping that complaints against people would mostly be directed to the administration, unless it was dealing with someone who was really ruining everyone else's fun and they thought that it should be made public.
Azhure - October 15, 2003 02:27 AM (GMT)
Well, yes. lol That's what my point was but forgive me for not being clear. I will resign from this topic and conclude that it is like a mere sewer thread. Toodles~

See, my point was that if you post somthing about some one, member, admin, your pet monkey alfred. No matter what you would have to allow them to state there ideas, or defend themselve. As for defending in an orderly manner....how does that work? Seems whenevr that comes up we have somthing like the toher night. Especially when some one reads somthing wrong, which every one has done at one point or another.
P.s. Wouldnt a complaint be considered a comment?
Azhure - October 15, 2003 02:56 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry, you misunderstood my post. I've already thought about it in the shower and it's very clear this will be going in circles. I agree with you whole heartedly on everything that you said and I hope you did not take my words as en offense because that is not what I intended, but like before, I'm not going to deal with this kind of posting. Sooooo I see no point in trying to contradict something I agree with. If you still want your two cents in, then feel free to PM me.
Baerholn - October 15, 2003 03:05 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but the other night is why I wanted to get this started. This way we can focus our ideas and the whole point of this is to get people to talk reasonably (instead of pointing figures throughout the threads). I'm hoping that it will be viewed more as a conversational tool, in which people can state their points instead of getting mad at someone else. It would probably also be a good idea to have someone act as mediator in the really nasty disputes. In that case, just ask someone to do it, it really can be anyone. While I'd like to help in matters like that personally I'm sure there are some who would just be more comfortable with someone else. Hope that clears stuff up. If not, I don't at all mind trying to clarify some more, so just post again.
And yes, a complaint is absolutely a comment. ^_^ But no one was really using the other board that way too much. Hopefully with a designated area for it people will begin to use it productively.

I think all of this came off a little to strongyl, I didn't mean to sound mean or anything. Seems to me I've been coming off that way alot lately, and if I cam off that way aagin, sorry. I meant this to be more of one of those kindly debates, I just sort of realised before the last one that we were agreeing, and then I lost my train of thought...happens alot to me, I also word things wrong alot. Causes trouble *nods* Anywho.....*wonders off to do somthing*
Azhure - October 15, 2003 10:01 PM (GMT)
Hey, no problem. You're not alone. And yeah, I agree with you there, we were sort of pushing each other at some point. Bye byeeee~
