Title: How "adventures" Work
Description: The Adventure System

Derhlith - August 8, 2003 04:08 AM (GMT)
Adventures are small, self-contained exploration missions. They have a set client, someone who wants this task done for them, a limit on how many people can go (the client may not be able to pay a whole army of people), a difficulty level, and the given rewards. A reward can be anything from Equipment and Items to just Gold. Though, more often than not, it will be Items and Gold. About 90% of the equipment in Hypeltheon can be bought somewhere in the realm, the other 10% are highly rare, and require a very skilled adventure of great difficulty.

Clients: A person, lordship, family, organization, or other group of people, who have a task that needs to be done. These tasks are usually fairly dangeous, which is why they don't go themselves.

Task: Any sort of job, be it recon, exploration, assault, defense, etc. Some jobs don't have clients, and those may reap more beneficial rewards because they do not benefit any single person, but the realm as a whole.

Difficulty: The difficulties, for now, range from 1 - 5. 1 being the easiest, and 5 being the most difficult. After a time the numbers will branch up as high as 10. If you're beneath level 3, you shouldn't attempt anything higher than level two, otherwise it will be incredibly difficult.

Rewards: Most of the more potent rewards don't come from the client, but from your travels. You may run across beasts or wild animals of sorts that you may fight or kill. Though some will not submit as easily as others, you can get their hides and furs, then trade them for money at the Market, or possibly for items or equipment. This won't always happen, however, and if you overload yourself with extra rewards, you may not get exactly as promised as far as the reward from your client, or you may not get rare equipment if your posts were good enough to get them.

Levels: Levels don't come as rewards, the difficulty of the adventure, and the quality of your posts will determine how many levels you gain, if any. For example, on a level 1 adventure, if you post poorly, you may not get a level at all. If you're on a level 4, and post poorly, you're likely to get one or two levels, max. But don't count on it and become lazy, or that rule will change.

NEW: I just recently realized that when multiple adventures get going, people may attempt to join the more lucrative ones, despite being enrolled in one already. So to solve the problem, and to be logical, you may only participate in one adventure at a time. If I see someone in more than one, I will remove you from the second adventure and if it's a repeated offense, you may be banned for a fixed period of time.

AMMENDMENT!!!!!!!

I'm botching the Rewards system, and the manpower limits. There will be nothing more than a Client, and a Task. Rewards will be divied out as the quests finish.

You can do anything from solos to huge groups. I really don't care. Use your creativity and do as you wish. It's taken me a little while, but I realized that I shouldn't care what goes on in the "Adventures" system, because it has no true plot. You're just discovering things and wandering around Hypeltheon. If you have any disputes on certain rules or areas - feel free to post your questions in the Questions OOC board - and I will answer promptly.

Anyone above level 3 can make their own quests - anyone below that level will have to join one - just to get a feel for it.

And another change - All those "random items" that I had set up. Gaffin Furs, and the like. For now they are being tossed aside. I will go edit the quests with those things in them accordingly - and replace them with monetary rewards. I'm also lowering the amount of money you may earn in an adventure
