Description: I Want Everyone To Vote!!!

Okay. I'm curious on what you guys think. I'm leaning more towards the Freestyle system myself. But if you guys want it to be a 'genuine' thing with places that actually exist in the realm, and little plots and what-not, feel free to vote the Adventures system, and I'll find someone to make a mod specifically for aiding me in making quests and stuff.
But please be honest and what-not, I would really like to know.

I vote freestyle but maybe for very special quests your style.

I think both would be good. ^_^ Maybe you can have it that people have to join quests until they reached level 5, and then make their own quests, like what's happening currently....or something like that. >_< I don't know, just throwing ideas.

I like the freestyle quest system for the freedom, and i like the rigid adventure system for the structure. i think that you might create a hybrid of them. Make a list of quests and get them all set up and ready to start, but post them in a "Quest list" some where, and those who arent so great at starting quests(such as me), can just pick a quest and go, and after a specific quest is completed, either blacklist names under the quest(so it can be reused by other players as they reach required levels), or remove the quest entirely. This gives the freedom that some players enjoy and love, while keeping the rp structured for the slightly less creative.
just a thought

I vote for both as well. I think the choose your own adventure thing is great, but there should be some adventures set up so as to keep the feeling of Dark Isles the way it was ment to be. I suppose that after saviors is up this won't be an issue, but until then I'd say that some adventures should still be added, maybe with slightly better bonuses than the create your own adventures.

another thing i thought of, have a "Lore" topic or something, that contains information about characters, players, people(from quests), places, kingdoms, quests or duties, etc... that players can use to structure quests more. So we can have actual places and what not, even in freestyle quests.

*points to everyone* what they said ~^.^~

I vote both, for the same reasons as the aforementioned ;)

I vote for both, because I need the posts.

I think anything would work really. The free style is good but sometimes a guide line could be helpful. Maybe have a spot where a charater's background could go into more detail. (This is what I am slightly doing wihtt my current quest) Something on the lines of this. Just putting my thought into the pot.

I'm gonna go both too...mainly 'cos in my experience the ones made yourself are fun but they never last out, whereas the structured ones go the same way but hell O.o they add to the history...

Both.
Freestyle are good because you can shape them to suit you, but sometimes they'll get out of hand and such, so that's why it's good to sometimes have a "rigidness" about it.

I like your quest ideas that you give out. Mabye you should do a sort of combination of the two though, so you don't get worn out of ideas.
Velvet - January 25, 2004 05:24 AM (GMT)
I'm going to go with the opinion of many of the others -- both.
Elither Daegovad - January 25, 2004 06:05 AM (GMT)
I'd just like to point out I do believe that the decision has been made. Kyo must have not looked at the dates of the last posts, before he replied. This thread has been dead for months, and I don't believe there is any point in replying. When you reach level 3 I believe you may make your own quest, but until then you have to join a quest that was made by another. And Saviors (Maybe more to come) Have already been structed upon Derhlith's idea's. Thanks for your thoughts though. ^_^

I voted 'Other'; I think you should have a list of different types of quests--Attack Quests (eliminate a particular threat/potential threat--goblins, orcs, etc.), Treasure Quests (to obtain something), Retrieval Quests (to retrieve something for someone else--for a price, of course), and Information Quests (to send and receive messages between kingdoms and the like--again, for a price). Then, under each quest type, you could have a set of places in which you want to have the quests (within this city or area, from this kingdom to that one, etc.); under each place, you could have a list of the quests themselves. This way, people can start whereever they want and do whatever type of quest they want; at the same time, however, they have a structured system that leads them along--then, of course, they complete the quest the way they want. What do you think?
