Title: The New Found Island
Description: Anyone Welcome
Shryo - September 20, 2003 01:24 PM (GMT)
Shryo stepped off the boat from his last quest and started walking towards the pub when a post on the board in the middle of the city caught his eye. It said:
!!NEW ISLAND SURROUNDING THE OUTER RIM DISCOVERED!!
Need expierienced people to go and search the island for natives and to make sure the land is safe for people to be on. We will pay a handsome reward.
--Annonomous
Man power limit:3(of any race or class)
Difficulty:2
Shryo read the post and saw that he wanted to be on this expidition of sorts so he quickly ran to the boat which was waiting at the docks. He saw he was the first passenger to arrive and he knew he would not be the last. Shryo turned and looked at the captain and asked,"How long will this take?" The captain responded with," a half day to get there and a half day to get back, and sonny we do not leave for an hour so you might want to go buy some items." Shryo listened to the captain and set off to buy some equiptment for his quest.

After leaving the tavern, nataS quickly walked to the town square to check the board for any news or tasks to be completed, not expecting to find anything new, he was supprised to spot an expedition was soon to be underway. He ran back to his room at the local inn, and grabbed his equipment, and ran down to the docks, where he found the boat and her captain that were to be the vessel that would carry the explorers to the isle. The captain gave nataS a breifing of what was going to happen, and what the party was to do on the island. After talking with the captain, he spotted Shryo, a member of the expedition to the clerics tower, and the scruffy dwarf greeted the cleaned cleric. The formalaties were cut short by the cleric asking if the dwarf was aslo responding to the same post at the board. The two companions chatter for a few moments about what they think will be awaiting them on the new isle, mostly about wether the natives on the isle would be friendly or not, and it was assumed that the majority would not be.

Athel sighed and pushed herself from the outter wall of the tavern.
There is nothing for me here at the moment, she thought and began to stroll towards the center of town. I made a fool of myself there anyway...
Her cheeks flushed at the thought and she pulled her hood back up over her hair to hide them in the shadow cast by the moon.
I need something to occupy my time. I wonder if there are any new requests for service on the board.
She strolled lazily toawrds the center of town and stopped to read the notices. Her eyes passed over a few that were not worth her time, but finally one caught her eye.
It read as follows:
!!NEW ISLAND SURROUNDING THE OUTER RIM DISCOVERED!!
Need expierienced people to go and search the island for natives and to make sure the land is safe for people to be on. We will pay a handsome reward.

Athel sighed a bit. Sounds interesting.
She gathered her robe about her, checked her belongings, and hurried towards the docks. Once there, she noticed nataS who had been with her on a previous quest.
"Hello," she greeted him quietly. "Is this the boat for the exploration quest?"
At his nod, she checked her belongings and then made her way over to the captain. "My name is Athel Vanya and I will be joining this venture. When will she leave?" she asked, gesturing to the boat.
"In about thirty minutes, lass," the captain replied. Athel glanced around and noticed she was the only female. Wonderful, she thought somewhat sarcasticly.
She nodded to the captain and made her way to the wand store.
After this I may be able to purchase a new staff, she thought as she hurried there. Might as well browse now, since I have nothing else to do until the ship leaves.
Shryo - September 21, 2003 04:00 AM (GMT)
Shryo went to the shop seeing that everything was way to overpriced for what he had so he headed back towards the dock. He passed Athel Vanya on his way back to the boat. He stopped and said hi to her, but she just kept on walking past him as if she was focussing on something more important than talking. Shryo then got to the boat and asked the captain if it were time to leave yet. The captain answered no because they were waiting on a young clerist named Athel Vanya who would be joining. Shryo turned and looked at his other partner who was on his first quest. The guy was a dwarf and his name was nataS. Shryo knew both of these people and he was ready to get going so he went to look around on the boat to make sure everything was sturdy enough incase a storm came around on the way to the newly discovered island.
{OOC: sorry for the short posts but once the quest gets started they wll get longer}

On her way to the shop, Athel saw Shryo but she chose to not bother with pleasantries and hurried on her way.
Like a typical female, Athel enjoyed her browsing of the wand store. Finally she dragged herself away and hurried back. She scurried onto the docks and onboard the boat. Embarrassed, she noted that everyone had been waiting for her and she pulled her hood low over her face to hide her blush.
This isn't my day for tactfullness, she thought as she made her way over to the ship's railing near the starboard of the ship. She gazed out over the water.
A new island... she mused. I do hope some of the natives are friendly, though I wouldn't mind a battle or two here and there.
"The ship is preparing to embark! Everyone aboard!" the captain called out.
Athel set her small pack on the deck of the ship and kept her eyes fixed on the expanse of the sea...

Slightly supprised by seeing two of his former comrades in battle meeting again on a different expedition without any communication between them, excluding his conversation at the tavern with Athel. After Athel left the boat to check the wand shop, the dwarf thought I guess this shouldn't be that suprising, this was the only worth while post on the boards. He continued to mull around his thoughts, pausing here or there to watch men loading crates onto other ships, when he saw Athel return to the moored ship. The captain, anxious to get the journy under way, like the rest of the crew, wasted no time after the female clerist arived to cast off and head to the frontier of the new isle. Still not acustomed to his sea-legs, nataS did not enjoy the boat ride at all, seeing as he was a dwarf, and more at home in any mountain than on the open seas. Getting a bad case of nausea, the dwarf retired to his quarters, a small closet underneath the main deck. The room itself was about the same width as the hall he had just exited, around three feet wide, and the bed was maybe two feet wide and 5 feet long, exceedingly crapmed, but it was better than the open deck to the dwarf.
Shryo - September 22, 2003 10:36 PM (GMT)
Shryo sat on the side of the boat and waited for Athel to get back from her adventurous wand shopping in the city. She finally returned in thirty minutes and then the voyage began as the ship departed from the main island of the Outer Rim. The captain saw that the bunch was tired so he assigned them each rooms on his boat, below the main deck. Shryo got the room which was closest to the stairs leading upward back to the deck. Shryo could hear the wind outside battering against the window in the room. He sat back down on the bed and wondered if he would ever find his father which left him a long time ago. Remembering about his father made him fall asleep and dream away in his own little world in his head. The dream was silent and all that could be seen was black and then someone running out a door.
A sound of the ocean awoke Shryo from his dreaming. It was the waves of the ocean hitting the side of the window in his room. He quickly jumped up and ran to the middle hall to see what was wrong, but being downstairs he knew nothing of what was happening uptop so he walked up the stairs fairly quickly. Everyone was already top side trying to figure out what was wrong with the ship. It was clear weather outside but yet the boat would not stop rocking back and forth. The waves outside the boat were coming over the railing at the side of the ship. The currents were knocking the three warriors off their feet, but they quickly got the hang of it and they could stand up like the crew of the ship. Shryo fell down and crawled and rolled to the side of the boat and looked over it and then he saw an unimaginable thing.
It was a monster under the boat and it was moving it and dirupting the wave currents to splash higher and even create tsunamis. The monster that Shryo named a Levation looked up and saw the human. The boat suddenly stopped as the monster went under the currents. All of a sudden it jumped out of the water and looked as if it wanted to fight the warriors. Shryo called the warriors over and told them to get in a formation to defeat the monster. The two got up and held their weapons in a offensive position ready to defeat the monster even if it took all the stregnth they had.

Athel's night was hell. She couldn't sleep, and she didn't know why. Instead of lulling her to sleep, the constant rocking of the boat gave her waves of nausea and unrest. Finally tiring of the sleeping game--which she was losing horribly--she climbed from her bed and made her way to the upper deck. The sailors all nodded to her and a few looked her over in a way she didn't like.
A little unnerved, she made her way to the railing and stood looking out over the water. She must have fallen asleep for she was soon jarred awake by a horrid thrashing.
What?? she wondered and looked down at the water. It was still except for around their ship where something that resembled a sea monster was tossing waves high above them.
Athel looked around quickly and was soon thrown from her feet by a jarring wave. She noted with embarassment that the experienced sailors were having no trouble staying afoot as she was being tossed about by the rocking of the ships. Amidst the chaos, she heard Shryo shout for them to fight the monster. With grim determination, Athel pulled herself to her feet and ran to stand behind him, eyeing the monster.
What a conundrum we're in, she thought. I have no attacks against this monster, and I'm pretty sure if I bashed him with my staff it would be to no avail.
