A line of sweat topped Retn’s brow, and he wiped it away as he studied the stone wall in front of him. Retn ran his hand along the stone, feeling for the right spot to strike. Running his left hand along the wall, he felt for the fracture line he hoped to strike. Spotting the precise spot he wanted, several feet from his last spot, he lightly marked the spot. The axeman took two additional steps away from the wall, planted his feet with his left foot forward facing the wall, and hefted the axe from off of his shoulder, bringing both hands to the shaft. Dropping the axehead toward the ground, Retn began swinging it backwards then up over his head, gaining both in speed and power for the strike. Axe over his head and moving forward rapidly, Retn stepped in with his right foot, bringing his entire body into the force of the swing, striking the stone wall with full force, cutting a gash a few inches deep into the wall. Pulling out the axe, Retn stepped back to survey his work. Several such gashes lined a portion of this wall, and Retn had to make sure it would do what he wanted before continuing. Satisfied, Retn triggered a spell in the armor he wore, calling forth a Gan Zot spell at the wall, an explosion of earth from within.

Chunks of debris shot forth from the wall, and a cloud of grey dust blinded any onlookers from what was happening within. Slowly, the cloud dispersed and the rock that had been scattered stilled. Retn looked through towards where he had been working earlier, waving away the remains of the dust cloud for a better view. Satisfied, at least for now, Retn removed the leather coat, and handed it and his axe to another who had been assisting him throughout the day before pulling out a banner and some nails, which he used to hang the banner from the top of the area he had cut out. Before the cloud had completely dispersed, the banner hung overhead, announcing the site as the new branch of the United Bank of Divergence. With the explosion of rock, the main walls of the bank had been blown out, leaving a large covered opening within the cliff face, several times larger than the business areas of the surrounding shops had. A small crew quickly brought in some furnishings as Retn turned to face the curious onlookers to deliver a short prepared speech.

“As you all may know, the bank has been a long running addition to The World, and is of the people, by the people and for the people. Soon after it came into being, the bank was filled to maximum capacity by players of this great game. As part of the expansion process of the bank, already a branch of the bank has been opened in Carmina Gadelica, fully featured with all of the little things that made the bank run so smoothly in the first place. Right now, it is my pleasure to announce that there will now also be a branch in Dun Lorieag. As you can see, the bank is still mostly under construction, though it will be complete soon. The walls and ceiling will remain rough with the texture of rock that gives it a variant style from the other banks already in existence, though all sharpened edges will be removed.

Bear with us as we get things in their proper order. This branch might have been opened first, but for the paperwork and planning that had to go into getting a go ahead from the safety crew and building commission in this city, which is to an extent a floating rock in the sky. With that out of the way, we are finishing as soon as we can to allow even greater accessibility to the players of The World. Right now, I’d like to introduce you to Wolff, the newest member of our customer security staff, third cousin twice removed from the Victor that has been the watchful guardian over the UBoD for some time now. All measures of protection that have maintained the bank so studiously before will be implemented here also, including but not limited to: machine gun turrets that will be set up nearby in undisclosed locations, the titanium "N00b-Proof" lock on our vault with the patented "Rayo-3000" which sends massive electricity to protect against unauthorized access, Wren Magic Surface To Air Spells (WMSTAS), Lyra’s charm to help deal with the animal inclined, and my own Retnuhytnuob Earth Crusher, in addition to a security measure which Lighteria holds, which as of yet has not been released to public knowledge. The KamiKazeKiwi has done a check on our methods of bank running, and currently gives it his “ Kiwi Approved©” guarantee.

Without further delay, I declare this branch open!” Retn looks behind him, where most of the furnishings have been set, and the area where the weapon/spell proof glass has been installed and notices the work that still needs to be done. Turning back around, a slight red tinge in his face, Retn makes one last statement. “The bank is still under construction, but we will be serving you while we work on it, to make it better for all involved.”

OOC: The rules for this bank are just like the ones at the currently-functioning United Bank of Divergence and its branches. If/when the rules change for the bank, the rules will change at here also unless I explicitly state otherwise. [eg. Update days may be different, but interest rates/max profitable GP won’t be]. Same interest rates, same account maximum [25 for now, though we are looking into reducing the number in each branch to 20 with the maximum GP that earns interest be raised to 1000 GP from 800], same everything. Pendant made his way into the second server for the sole purpose of entrusting a part of his savings to the new bank. The silver bird carefully approached Retn with his notepad, requesting that the manager see him aside for a moment. Once he was satisfied that the security measures would be sufficient, the penguin placed a gold ingot in bank possession. The block was the equivalent of 1000 GP for his account. Savings and profits were of particular importance to Pendant.

Various workers still toiled in the back, cleaning out and carving out the rooms that would be used by the employees of the bank. As of now, few had come through, likely due to a combination of the standard payday not yet having come, and the other bank that had recently opened in another server. Sitting, waiting for another player to show up and be the first one to arrive, Retn was surprised to see a penguin walk through the front opening. Surprised... mostly because there was only one non-event penguin in the world to his knowledge, and also due to the fact that the penguin (as far as Retn knew) rarely left the shop for treasure hunting.

Still, when the penguin pulled him aside, Retn followed, and upon prompting, Retn layed out their defensive systems keeping the bank safe. Seemingly satisfied, the artic bird gave him a golden ingot for the bank to hold. Under the watchful eyes of Wolff, Retn took the gold and deposited it into the bank's safe, wondering firstly what the penguin needed the money for, and secondly, how it had gotten so much already. Still, it was a bank account, and Retn recorded the deposit into his books, and let the gold grow in interest.

The teller said, having finished counting the GP for verification. "Wolff!" He called out into the lobby, bringing the security guard over to protect the large deposit from any would-be thieves. The protected transport soon arrived, and Wolff went back to his gaurding protection of the bank's patrons when the GP was safely aboard.

"Wolff!", Retn called, entering the stone carved bank in Dun Lorieag several days later. A figure appeared from its spot, hidden away in the shadows, blending nicely into his survailence and security role. "There you are. I've heard that the bank isn't showing proper figures again this week... and it's not good for our reputation! Then again, I did know that you had the eyes of a hawk, and the speed and strength that would be needed for customer security. ... But I still thought you would be capable of helping account for the money when I can't be here."

Wollf shook his head, but smiled anyway. "I'm built for security, not numbers, though I can at least handle the simple loans and deposits. I have a helper, hired him not too long ago, and he seemed to handle his first transaction rather well..." He started to continue, but was cut off by Retn leaving for the teller booths.

"Who's in charge here?" Retn asked the one sitting there, and the thin man with wiry glasses looked at him questioningly before he pulled out a thick book and flipped through it's pages. Retn glared at him, but the man mearly held him off by telling him to wait a moment as he ran his finger down a colum. His finger stopped, tapped the spot, and then held that place as he pulled out a smaller notebook with several loose pages with his other hand.

"It says here that the person in charge is the one funding the bank." he said, tapping the large book, "and my notes say that for this bank that would be one Retn Nuob." Retn shook his head as he told who he was, and clarified his question, specifying that he wanted the person that was keeping track of the money. The man light up and introduced himself as the accountant that had been hired. A frown of confusion darkened his face though when he saw Retn still somewhat annoyed. "Is there a problem? There shouldn't be. The two accounts have been entered and are being tracked in the books, and there is ample GP to cover their interest. I even have the update calculated and ready for when the scheduled update period occurs" He glanced at the big book of regulations as he spoke, seeming to look for something. "scheduled for ... today or tomorrow, if I can find it..."

Retn softened. "Perhaps Wolff didn't tell you... or didn't know. The policy in this reguard has been changed for this bank. We make the updates available on Thursdays." The accountants eyes went wide, then he hurried to jot a note of reference in the big book, and a smaller note in the notepad before showing account details to the holders of the accounts. "While I'm here," Retn continued, "here's an advance for the bank. It should last some time." Retn set down a bag with 200 GP in it, before rising to leave the accountant to his work.

Belisaria sulked in the shadows, drifting from darkened corner to darkened corner only stepping into the light when absolutely necessary. But, since the majority of Dun Lorieag was an open air, floating platform this was quite difficult to do. After spending the past 15 minutes trying to get from his platform to the platform with the WBoD branch on it he finally gave up and strode across the small bridge as the sunlight beat down upon his neck and shoulders. He grimaced as he hauled his axe across his shoulder, the blade scraping against the ground slightly as he went but he made it across with no loss of limb.

He walked into the shade of the UBoD branch and let out a sigh as being rid of the cursed sunlight. He stepped up to the counter and lifted his moneybag, placing it upon the counter before emptying the contents in front of the desk clerk.

“I would like to make an account and deposit 800GP into it.” He said with a cool and malicious attitude. The clerk glanced at him, apparently not afraid of his glaring eyes and sullen appearance. Of course, he was safe behind a sheet of glass. He adjusted his glasses and asked Belisaria a few questions about himself. Belisaria answered them, some more reluctantly than others, but in a short time the account was made and the GP was deposited.

As Belisaria was preparing to leave he glanced into his bag and noticed a small glitter of light. He pulled it out and placed it upon the counter.

“I was wondering if I deposited this Rainbow Card it would gain any interest in my account? Though I’m not sure on what the worth of it is. I could easily get it evaluated and then return with price.”

In answer to your question Belisaria... I could do it that way, (treating it as 'cash equivelence', though at the moment the bank is not a currency exchanging station) but as is, interest is 1% of the gp in the account, to the maximum of 8 GP, and since your account currently meets the optimal GP minimum having the card as extra wouldn't really help.

Well... Ah.. Ummm... Okay then, nevermind. Prehaps at a later time then.

A silent whisper echos through the dimness of the corridor in the somewhat forgotten bank, desolate and alone in the infrequently used paths of Dun Lorieag. Footsteps are heard on the stone path in front of the bank on this lonely late night. The laght night teller looks up from his reading material, setting it aside in hopes that at long last the bank would have some new buisness. "How may I help you?" the teller asked, pulling out an administrative form and a pen. The player tapped on a spot on the current bank statement sheet, sliding over a sack with a note. Carefully, the banker reads it.

"Close it down, and give me the money." the player says, and the curved edge of an axe edge suddenly entered the light, making plain the sharpness in the evening hours. Slowly, so not to disturb the axeman, the teller turnes towards the safe, but not before signaling Wolff with the hidden button. Silently and stealthily, a pannel in the wall slides up, hidden to all but those who knew where to look, and a massive player steps out, still in his night clothes, but carrying a weapon that could ensure destruction. Wolff walks over as if another customer, and starts to chat with the axeman, hoping that with his presence and words he could counter what the axeman wanted to do.

The banker gave him extra time, knowing that if he came back with the money before Wolff had convinced the player otherwise, Wolff would have to do something he never wanted to do. Gathering the required GP into the sack, the banker stalled inside the NOOb-Proof vault. "Hurry up in there, and bring me the money!" the axeman called, showing his high level of emotion. Reluctantly, the banker exited, closing the vault securely with the "Rayo-3000" system in place. Only a small part of the operating gold had been moved into the sack, but would the Axeman accept it as it was? The banker certainly hoped so. Even with Wolff there, there was nothing he could do to keep himself entirely safe in this instance.

Regretfully, the banker set down the sack and slid it across the counter. The axeman weighed it in his hand, nodded and turned toward the exit. The banker nodded his head as a signal when the axeman was halfway across the floor. Wolff started after him at once, but before he could catch up with the axeman, the axeman had left the building, leaving the entrance open and exposed to the cold wind that was beginning to blow. Wolff reached the entrance, but instead of heading out after the player, he sealed the bank for the evening. "Closing time." Wolff said, turning back towards his room and the rest that had been interrupted.

"Closing time." the acountant sighed as he scratched a line off from his buisiness books. "Closure of an account. We could already use more customers, and have the GP here to handle it for quite some time. ... Oh well. Maybe next week you'll be as busy as Ernst."
