oooh, I hope I can afford one

Crimson - May 28, 2003 05:57 PM (GMT)
well, if it's a computer it'll probably run 750 - 1000 dollars, if it's more like a PDA, it'll run from 50 - 500 dollars

How much do you think it will cost?

The recent role playing game "Xenosaga", based in the future, featured a handheld computer that fit into your palm. On command, it would expell a clear keyboard and video screan that seemed to weigh next to nothing. Sony Electronics has announced its plans to begin testing into making a product similar to this design. This will revolutionize computers as we know it, though they seem to be mainly useful for data storage and programming. More on this topic shall be revealed as more is let out.

It's multi-tasking! Why waste time eating and then playing a game when you can eat AND play the game at the same time! Saves time that could have been spent levelling. And seekin' out rare treasure. And such. And besides, sometimes ya get hungry or thirsty when you're playing of course. And it does get boring when ya have to wait an hour for your food to arrive.

woah... you have too much time on your hands!! I multitask, but it mainly involves doing homework while playing the world... If your tha desperate for food, get a mini fridge in your room or something!

I only need The World :D

((ooc: xenosaga? Shweet! I mean...umm..))

Maybe so, but if this thing is a computer, it could conceivably be hooked up to the world.

Imagine! The world made portable! *slobbers over himself*

A computer system that can fit in your palm... if you had a way to connect it to a phone, and it had enough memory to run The World, then everyone would be set. Of course that'd sorta ruin the whole point of e-pubs for some people when they can just play The World while at their favorite restauraunt! ^.^

I used to have tons of homework to catch up with, but back then I didn't have The World. Now I have The World, but I wonder how multi-tasking with homework will be like when the next school year rolls around. A computer that small would be useful. Then I might be able to sneak playing it in class! Of course the problem would be the VR monitor... ya can't really hide that.

Who plays a game while eating at the same time? It doesn't make much sense to me.

Nikkio2003 - June 24, 2003 02:10 AM (GMT)
that's a good point..also..
It wouldn't be too smart to walk around with goggles on your head on the street or something..I think they'd havve to get rid of the goggles for that.

Visual transferrence of data through nerves may be possible.. therefore eliminating the need for the helmet altogether... becasue what is the real difference between the nerves in the back of your eyes and the nerves in your skin? Well generally I think that would be the kinds of signals they produce, so if you were to alter the signals slightly, you could see in perfect 3-D in "The World" without the use of any clunky goggles and other such devices that would be overly obvious, and a nervous transfer system that works in the other way could be usefull to allow a person to play with as little body movement as possible... therefore allowing almost undetectable in-school gemeplay!! Hahahahahahahahah!!! .....er....... excuse my over-zealous enthusiasim...

The_End_Cypher - June 25, 2003 02:27 PM (GMT)
How about eating, playing and getting dressed all at the same time! :woot:
