Title: Personal Soundtracks
Description: We all have 'em!
Sekai - August 16, 2009 11:34 AM (GMT)
Some say that the best way to communicate is through music and that it transcends any language barrier we as human beings have.
So I decided to see if I can prove this saying true- to an extent.
I'd like everyone who reads this and has the time to do so, to pick 14 songs- the average number of songs on a movie OST and music CD these days- that you feel best describe yourself and the person you are, were and will become.
It can be lyrical, it can be instrumental, it can be anything- so long as it's music. Is it a track from a TV show you love? An anime? A classical CD? Thrash metal? Country? Rap?
Anything in there. No matter what genre, no matter what artist or type it is; if you're listening to it and, every single time you hear it, you feel that song resonate within your mind, your heart and your soul; put it on that soundtrack and post either the tracklist- in any order you choose- or a zipfile with the songs within it.
Also; no one gets to mock any artist or song that comes up; we come from all walks of life and some peoples' tastes are older than others or are incredibly different. Don't knock it until you try it and even then, don't knock it; period. Any posts mocking another's will be deleted or edited to be made into a compliment about the other person. (Read: Invasion of posting space will happen.)
If you're curious about the meaning behind the song or the reason I chose it from my own list I'm putting up here? Feel free to ask- same goes for anyone who feels comfortable enough either posting their own reasons behind the song, or if they'd rather have it not publicly viewable but would be willing to share with those who ask.
For those of you like me who like to play the "Spot the Pattern/Running Theme" game; see if you can spot any in someone's music- don't just listen to the lyrics, but try and absorb the entire song- look beneath the underneath and the obvious to see if there's a message there.
Without further ado, I'll kick this off to a (hopefully) running start with my own list:
1. Before the Dawn by Evanescence
2. Uninvited by Alanis Morissette
3. Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self by Pink

Sure 13 and 14 are bonus tracks since they could be placed anywhere. However since I did try to tell a bit of a tale with the collection, so they had to be at the end. Sorry about the fact that it doesn't flow from one song to another well anough in places.
As for the random outburst of Randy Newman, that is now Watorie's Themesong. For that marks our first meeting. *nods* ...Only now I can see him singing it after randomly sitting down at my lunch table... o_o;

Ai ya...I love and hate these things. I love seeing everyone else and, like Sekai, wonder what aspect of the song relates to them.
