Title: Data Drain Time
Description: Just as a warning

Lyra - June 30, 2009 03:19 PM (GMT)
The following list of people falls into the catagory of "has not posted in two years or more".

Clans, please pillage any bodies belonging to you at will.

If anyone on this list posts within the next week, they will be removed from the deletion listing.

If anyone has any reason not to delete someone on here, other than "oh, please don't", post such here.

Nikkio2003, Kamina, Malignant, Hero, Xeos, Yuna Whitepaws, Darkstar, Gillion, Haruhara Haruko, Rion Runeosuke, Jester, NuByteHuntor, Phobia, Maguma, Waveryn_Rider_of_Destruction, Sero, Aenaku-Kaosu, Marth, The Lone Gunman, MÄNNISKOPESTEN, Vahu, Morhighan, Meru, Black_Griff, Eddy Red, Ayeka Penor, Emak, Cayr, Keashi, Corbenik, Gray_O_Dark, Haru-kun, Celeste, Susanoh, Kraye, Painless, Hikaru, Onyx Glace, fatal-fate, Theatrephreak, Bishop, Confyzone, Horokeimo, Ahiko, Ayame, Ivyn, Yuki_Tatsu_Shizuka, Itske, Blau, zoan_revived, Briar, Manakete, buster, Magus, Gizotso, Rawrness, Kira, Waizu, Martyr617, Seige Arose, Vipora Tri, ViperRaven, zaseniti, Balance, Emicho, Reaver, Lestat Ravenscroft, Lunero, Blue, Souldragoran, rindapinda, Karasu, Mikifor, Koran, Skeith

And just so you all know, we've been rather lax on this crap lately. In fact, some of those people up there on that 700 day list? Haven't posted in over 1000 days. 39 of the 75 in fact. In other words, give up on those people.

Jpec07 - June 30, 2009 03:27 PM (GMT)
Skeith, Innis, Magus, Fidchell, Gorre, Macha, Tarvos, and Corbenik are all part of the PM-security net that Kiwi and I devised and should not be deleted.

I should also think that if there are any on that list with more than 25 posts, they should not be deleted either (reason being their convenience should they decide to return). I'll also suggest that Nikkio2003 shouldn't be deleted (wasn't she an admin at one point?).

Lyra - June 30, 2009 03:40 PM (GMT)
The net should actually turn up safe. If not, I'll manually make them safe. However, they're not in use right now as it is :/
(In other words, if you two plan on eventually using them - and please, don't distract Kiwi with actually doing so right this second - I'll create some hidden spot for you to post with each of them once, that'll keep them safe much more easily.)

Nikko is technically qualified for immortalization as she was an admin, but her only action as an admin, literally, was to remove herself from such. She specifically asked to be deleted a year ago... I never really got around to it <.<

If I left members with more than 25 posts... I'd be leaving that whole list. I've already removed everyone who has less than 10 posts and hasn't posted in over 6 months. I know "convenience" and everything, but I'm really freaking lenient compared to the old data drain laws... you were inactive for 6 months, you were gone, period... No warning, no email, nothing. These days we have character profiles to save info via, and the cutoff date is two years. Some of these people have families or careers now and just aren't coming back... Yes, it's mean that I'm deleting some of our earliest members there, but if they aren't coming back, they aren't coming back.

If they're really that interested in coming back, all it would take is slapping one post down this week and they'd be immune for another 700 days. I'm pretty sure that's pretty generous.

I don't see anyone on the list to hold back with (Nikkio aside, but if she asked...) and I agree that the 'post once and be fine for two years' bit is more than fair. I don't think 25+ posts should save you if you haven't posted in two years. If you want to come back, we'll help you come back, just like we have everyone else who that's ever happened to.

Just my two billion dollars.

Fayre - June 30, 2009 10:53 PM (GMT)
Two years is plenty lenient, I'd say. The responsibility falls on the player, not the admin, to ensure they're active enough to avoid deletion. (Especially when the requirements for that are easy.) I could be biased since I haven't been around long enough for nostalgia to develop.

EDIT: Plus, I don't think their posts get deleted along with their account, do they? So on the very off chance that someone comes back, they could hunt down some things.

It's tough, though. But I'm pretty sure that the argument for them not being deleted is more for reminiscent values rather than convenience for them or whatnot.

Nubyte still owes me a duel. <.<

Centrus - July 1, 2009 06:53 AM (GMT)
Their posts remain, but you still have to track each of them down. You can no longer do the "find all topics by this member" etc. with that. But hey, on the off chance that any of the above users need help finding their stuff, we're glad to help, right?

Shenmock - July 8, 2009 02:57 AM (GMT)
Umm...guys? Why were some people's second characters data drained? I saw that Hac and Hitori's second characters were kinda deleted. ._.; Did anybody do that purposefully, 'cause...yeah.

Centrus - July 8, 2009 06:03 AM (GMT)
They had the same warning as everyone else, Shenny. The fit the criteria of Data Draining. Nothing personal, promise.

Hitori - July 8, 2009 06:08 AM (GMT)
Honestly, that's no problem anyways. I haven't been active with my primary character, so I really have no excuses. :P

As long as there's a change to the character thing, saying that I no longer have a second character, I'm fine with it. :ph43r:

Lyra - July 8, 2009 04:11 PM (GMT)
If anyone's second characters were deleted recently, it's because they had less than 10 posts total and hadn't posted in over 6 months. In my eyes, if you never had more than a handful of posts (10, for most people, isn't enough to register, post a profile, and complete a whole quest) and you haven't been bothered to make one in 6+ months, your account is abandoned. That's one of the few acts of maintenance I carry out every month or two without warning. The following categories get deleted:

-Any group with less than 10 posts who has not posted in more than 6 months
-Registering or Validating group that has not posted in 3 months, regardless of post count (which nowadays means they never posted, period).

And then the one that I also normally don't give warning on, but there were enough recognizable members that I finally said "screw it, I'll give warning":

-any group, period, who hasn't posted in more than 700 days, regardless of post count.

A few specific members qualify for "immortality" - mostly Admins and clan founders - but so far no one's actually received it/wanted it. Angelus has come closest in that it's physically impossible to register with his name now (even though he's come back twice under other names). I think everyone agrees it's best not to have smelly bodies sitting around, as sad as it is to look at our old quests and see unregistered users throughout.

Everyone should consider this their final warning to get people active and/or raid the bodies: I'll be Data Draining tonight before I leave for New York.

Rion Runeosuke - July 10, 2009 12:38 AM (GMT)
Nooooooooo. It'd be a shame to delete me before my come back is done. >_<

Posting makes me exempt, right?

Ko_Inuyasha - July 10, 2009 02:15 AM (GMT)
Posting makes you exempt but that signature of your's gets you banned. Shorten that thing up for the sake of the readers.

Centrus - July 10, 2009 02:18 AM (GMT)
Ko, he doesn't get banned.

Yet.
This discussion's been moved to the proper channels, as this thread's meant for other stuffs. Check your inbox, Rion.
