Title: Aquiring a certain item of boom!

Silver - June 28, 2009 12:16 PM (GMT)
Silver walked into the pawnshop slowly, he hadn't been here before. There was a little money in his account, but not much. The Stores were far too expensive, maybe the pawn shop might be better? It was a neat place, but a little dusty. There was definitely some atmosphere at work here, a nice comforting feeling that left the purse feeling more full. The shelves were covered in hundreds of items, but that was just daily turnover. Wandering the isles did nothing but frustrate Silver as he was desperate to spend his money.

Suddenly something caught his eye, a straight wand ending in a point made of burnt looking wood. It had a thin vein of yellow semi-precious stone running up one side. The label read "lightning wand 800gp". It was a bit expensive, maybe the shopkeeper was willing to compromise, it looked like it had been there for a while. He rung the bell and a tiny sound was made, obviously not the real alarm that alerted the shop-keeper to come to the counter soon after.

"I don't think I can afford to spend so much on this so soon, but I do really want it," Silver told the shopkeeper and pointed to the wand.

Amethyst sighed as the bell rang again. How exactly CC Corp had finagled him into working the Mac Anu pawn shop again was beyond him, and as much as he could hope there would be no customers, that damned bell kept reminding him: he had a job to do here.

The wavemaster approached, eyeing the lowest-level wand they had on display. As he spoke, the heavy axeman pulled up the stat card on the player simply as a matter of curiosity. What he saw made him smirk.

"Uh, you do know that you won't be able to use that wand for another three levels, right?" he said, leaning one arm on the counter.

Silver - June 29, 2009 11:57 AM (GMT)
"Oh yes I know I can't use it YET, but it would be so wonderful to call down lightning dont you think?" Silver commented charmingly, it didn't matter that he couldn't use it yet.

Think of the wand as motivation. Becoming level four would be first priority in order to be able to grab that little thing and strike someone with it. Earth is such a boring element, this stupid starter weapon is so boring. Lightning on the other hand...

He gave a pause, then commented curiously. "I can still own it right?"

Amethyst - June 29, 2009 06:38 PM (GMT)
Just as long as you know that, the shopkeeper muttered, pulling the item in question from the shelf and placing it on the counter between them.

I'll give it to you for 1,000 GP, he said after a moment's thought, seeing as how you can't use it yet and it's four times your level, I think that's a modest price.

Silver - July 1, 2009 01:26 AM (GMT)
"1000gp!!!" Silver exclaimed. "I haven't looked at the in store price of this, but your own label reads 800gp!!!"

The wand was nice, but Silver was a bit of a miser. The hip pocket nerve was very sensitive and right now it was pulsing painfully as it constricted around his pocket. Besides, this game was fun.

Amethyst - July 1, 2009 01:38 AM (GMT)
I'm the one who sets the prices here, Amethyst replied, picking up the wand and eyeing it, after all, the wand is in pristine condition, and you'd be paying something of an arbitrary fee. Unless you can give me some reason why you think you should pay less. He was hoping for some fight with this one...

Silver - July 2, 2009 03:36 AM (GMT)
"You can set the prices but i've got the money, and im only willing to part with a certain fraction of it," Silver answered casually. "And I didn't realise a wand could really be in 'good' condition, its not like im going to stab anything with it... I think,"

There was a moment of pause, he didn't really need to give a reason to pay less, still the fact that the label said less! How ridiculous. Still, it was a game, and one that Silver intended to grab the upper hand in.

Amethyst - July 2, 2009 03:59 AM (GMT)
You'd be surprised, kid, he said, weapons in good condition can be sold for higher prices, and rumor has it that their attacks have more kick to 'em. Tell you what, though; I'd be willing to settle for 950 GP. He smirked, sitting back in his stool (inasmuch as it could be called sitting back) and watching the character fluster himself. Was bartering really that frustrating?

'sides which, the tags are more...guidelines than actual rules we shopkeeps have to follow.

Silver - July 3, 2009 08:06 AM (GMT)
"Ahhh, I see..." Silver gave a moment of false thought." I'm afraid I rather like guidelines, they make everything run nice and smooth,"

He let that hang in the air, 950gp didn't really seem much fun at all. It wasn't even about the wand so much anymore as the game. The World was fun, so much better than that Archaic MMORPG crap.

Amethyst - July 8, 2009 08:17 PM (GMT)
Amethyst sighed, running his hand through his hair and mumbling something about how nobody knew how to barter anymore before addressing the customer directly.

800 GP, then, he said disinterestedly, taking out a magazine and no longer paying any attention to what was going on at all.

Silver - July 9, 2009 01:21 AM (GMT)
"Oh fine then," grumbled Silver.

He'd originally thought the price could go lower, but considering the difficulty of this Amethyst person, 800gp was quite a good result. Not that he'd let her know he was glad of it, after all, this wouldn't be the last time Silver would visit this store.

He chucked the 800gp on the table in front of the disinterested Amethyst and walked out with the wand, the slightest smile playing on the edges of his virtual face.
