1. Name of Character in The World – Ven
2. Name of Real World Player – Zack Canagaze
3. Age – 22
4. Class – Heavy Axeman
5. Clothing – When most people in ‘The World’ think of a Heavy Axemen, they think of someone large and strong, decked in heavy armor and always looking for a fight, usually someone mindless and looking to beat the living crap out of something. Ven takes on the exact opposite, wearing nothing but a sleeveless jacket, shorts, and boots. Why he didn’t even choose to wear a shirt under the jacket is beyond him, even, but it certainly adds on to the “ragged adventurer” look that Ven tries to portray. His clothes are usually ripped in multiple places and with each battle he seems to look more like he just narrowly escaped a brawl with quite a strong monster. While his build isn’t much to look at when compared to others in the same class, he certainly holds his own as looking like your everyday “ragged adventurer.”
6. Eye color – Gray
7. Height – 6’1”
8. Hair color – Short, blonde hair that drifts about a centimeter over his forehead
9. Personality – Like others in his class, Ven isn’t the type to just back down. Most of the time he tries to keep his cool amongst others, but if someone really wants to pick a fight with him, he certainly won’t disagree no matter what the level of his opponent is. Reckless, sure, but he certainly tries to keep it to a level where he isn’t constantly getting into all-out brawls with every player in Mac Anu.
10.Weapon/Armor -
Weapon: Short Swing (Triple Wield)
Head: Bandana (Repth)
Arm: Wristbands (Juk Rom)
Body: Leather Coat (Gan Zot)
Feet: Sandals
11. Writing Sample –
“…so t equals?”
There was silence for a moment before he sighed, closing the textbook and rubbing his eyes. It was one o’clock in the morning and for the past half hour they’d been working on the same problem to no avail. Actually, it was more Zack’s fault for doing nothing to actually even listen to the equation, let alone answer it.
“What? Oh…” Zack scratched the back of his head, biting his tongue once again. His mind had wandered again. “Sorry, I’m just tired.” He rubbed his eyes and blinked; yet he knew somehow his little act wasn’t going to fool his roommate. Nothing ever did. He looked at the floor, avoiding the impeding gaze that was focused on his face. Why did this always happen the night right before the final?
“Well, I’m not staying up any longer for you. It’s been thirty minutes and you haven’t listened to a word I’ve said.” His roommate, whose name was Max, tossed the textbook to him before setting off to bed. Zack hardly cared, though, as he knew there was nothing he could do to keep from thinking about him.
For all he knew, he could’ve been sitting in the chair staring off into space for hours, thinking about what had happened the previous day. But he’s dead, he kept on telling himself. His brother, a year older than him, had passed away months before. A lot of people thought it had been from a heart attack or something, but there was a sort of catch that he had been investigating for quite a while: his brother had been playing an online game when he died.
Earlier the day before he had seen on the news a man reporting that several people had suddenly gone into comas due to the same game. Zack still couldn’t accept the fact that he was dead, so he clung to the fact that somehow, someway there was something in the game that would lead him to find the reason behind his brother’s death. Another part of his mind told him that there was a way to bring him back, but that was impossible. All he could really do was try to look for sources that could lead him to the truth and that was the first thing that had led him there.
Now the package sat on his desk, still in the plastic wrap and waiting to be opened. The laptop was next to it, its screen giving off a faint glow that flickered off every now and then. Zack sighed. It was probably four o’clock in the morning now, usually about the time he fell asleep. Sleep just didn’t come like it was supposed to.
Zack slowly walked to the chair, where he sat down and slowly ripped the plastic wrap off of it. He blinked back the urge to sleep and slipped the disk into the slot before pulling on the headset. You’re crazy, he told himself, but in a reasonable way. He couldn’t help but laugh at the stupidity.
A character application screen glimmered up in front of him, revealing a good number of options for what his character would look like and what his class and gender would be. There was an overwhelming amount of options and he couldn’t help but scroll through each and every one of them before finally even deciding to pick one of them. Don’t get too carried away.
For class he chose a ‘Heavy Axeman.’ He was sure that most people preferred to even their stats out and play a Medium class, but something told him that it wouldn’t be too hard to blow through the game solo if he chose this class. Who knew how many jerks resided in this game, anyways?
The design was a little complicated to figure out. I hardly get any choices other than armor that makes me look like the size of the Empire State Building, he thought glumly as he scrolled through. Finally he came upon a simple design, a sleeveless jacket, some shorts, and some boots. While it certainly wasn’t a lot, it was better than having to watch his character lug around all that armor.
After choosing his hair and eye color and his username, Zack couldn’t help but smile a touch. “Nothing like starting an adventure at five o’clock in the morning.”
