8. Appearance-

Torque's imposing figure was created by many pieces of clothing and armor stacked on each other. The base of his wear was an overly large angelic white robe that danced around him as he moved. The hood of the robe usually left thrown back and ignored. Over the robe were pieces of plate armor strapped into place by tanned leather strips which tucked neatly into the folds of the robes. The pieces of armor themselves were charcoal black while their edges a polished sliver. His upper body consisted of breastplate(chest), pauldrons(shoulders) which rose around his neck forming an effective barrier against slashes at his unarmored neck, and on each arm a vambrace(forearm) and gauntlet(hand) sat tightly bounded.

For his lower half, he wore thick leather boots with greaves(shins) under his robes while for his lower torso he wore a skirt made of white leather and chain mail. The only characteristic icon he donned was a emblazoned sliver phoenix upon his breastplate.

His dirty blond hair remained the only thing which wasn't trapped in some kind of protection, allowed to waver freely in the wind. His hairstyle was not-existence, as his hair was at medium length and left to its own devices after that. His eyes remained a contrast to his ever changing hairstyles, they always featured a piercing green glare.

9. Personality-

Vlad: He is a quiet teen who is usually paying attention to his own thoughts rather than the world around him. As recovering drug addict, he tries to keep many of his older habits under control. He lacks the motivation to reach out to people in fear of them learning about his past as well as finding it hard to let others close to him.

Torque: While under the guise of his avatar Vlad takes on the personality of a middle aged adult. He tries to emulate the adults who have been caring for him during/after his drug rehabilitation, subconsciously using his avatar's role play to test the water of the man who he would like to become.

Torque is man who would rather think before he acts and even then might be slow to action unless he is sure on the result. While being much like Vlad in his social activity he is less afraid of reaching out and contacting other people, even more so if he can lend a helping hand. He finds a smile and a thank you can be worth more than any treasure. To him, The World is simply a game but always keeping in mind that the people in it aren't.

11. Finding The World

Beads of sweat rolled down Vlad's face, dropping off his chin descending towards the darkness of the club's floor. The veins on his arm budging with the rhythm of the music that pumped throughout the building. His vision a messy haze of black and neon as the lights came and passed over the darkened corners of the club. A needle slowly pushed into his arm as he let of a moan of relief in his euphoric state. As he slumped against the wall he whispered, “I'm free” as his mind once again escaped from reality.

His vision was between his legs as if he could simply just ignore the state of affairs in front of him if he looked elsewhere. The hammering of the gavel ringing in his ears proved this theory to be horribly wrong. Even after the hammering stop it didn't do anything to quell the screams of his mother which proved a high pitch contrast to the dull low ringing of the gavel that once again sounded over his mother's voice in a demand for order in the court. There was ant on ground that slowly made circles between the walls of his shoes. The insect repeating the shape as if another rotation could grant it an escape, but it would find none. Vlad sighed as he heard the scuffle of shoes on the waxed floor and the doors of the court room being thrown open, his mother's voice slowly fading from earshot.

“The verdict has been decided,” Vlad raised his eyes to the judge upon his tower. “The child will under go transfer to a foster family as well as being put through the addiction assessment center.” A fragment of sunlight lit Vlad's face for a moment as he turn to stare at the sky beyond the windows of the courtroom. The sun finally breaking free of the prison of clouds that had been holding it back for so long.

The rain pelted against the window of his room as Vlad lay on his bed preoccupied with throwing a rubber ball against the wall so it would return to his hand with consistent timing. The resounding thuds of the ball matching the throbbing ache in his mind that refused to leave. The calender across the room vulgarly showing red X's as it marked the days since his last medical dose. They said that it would serve at as reminder at how much progress he had made, but to him it was a counting system to how much the throbbing ache in his mind would slowly whittle away his sanity. Usually he would go outside to get his mind off of it but with the constant heavy downpour it seemed mother nature had other plans.

A knock on his door interrupting the rhythm that the ball and the rain had created for some time now. “It's open.” Vlad answered. His foster father stepped into the room holding a package beneath his arm.

“HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY!” He gave an overly joyous shout as he presented the package.

“Thanks...” Vlad was slightly lost for words and actions as he stare blankly at his foster father. This most likely would prove to be a rather different experience than his last birthday present of half a carton of cigarettes. He took the box and examined the text that was boldly printed on its sides. “A video game?” Vlad ask.

“Not just any video game.” His father explained in a salesman like manner. “Is The World,” now gesturing with opening arms. “Rather popular among teens of your age and said to be one of the most advance games currently in production.” He moved to seat himself in the chair near the desk. “I can help getting everything set up if you like.” He offered.

“What do you know about games?” Vlad questioned as he passed the box over. He wasn't incredibility interested in the game but for the time being it would be something to do until the weather cleared up. It couldn't be less interesting that bouncing a ball across the room trying to stave off the aching of addiction. He watched from the bed as his father went to work setting the device up on Vlad's desk. Everything seemed to be fairly common until he saw his father remove a odd looking headset from the box. “What's that?” Vlad asked, now generally curious.

“This is the headset that is used to play the game. It features an on board screen inside as well as a microphone so you're to talk to others nearby. It has features beyond that but I am sure you will discover them as you play.” He explained as he finished the last few adjustments to everything before collecting the plastic scraps in the now hollow box. He tossed the manual towards Vlad, “Read this, I am sure it should cover everything you need to get started.”

Vlad flipped the manual over in his hands as he leaned against the wall of his room surveying the art on the covers. His foster father slowly slipping out of the room quietly with a wave seeing that Vlad was now entranced in the pages. Taking his time Vlad scanned the manual for information trying to get bits and pieces of what seemed to be the most important concepts. Finally he found himself at the end of the manual with his gaze focused on the glowing screen which sat perched on his desk. The glow giving the room a warmer light against the stormy atmosphere of weather outside. Resting against the wall he felt the ache creep back into his mind with the absence of activity. Letting out a resounding sigh he made his way across the room to the terminal taking a seat. It was only until the weather cleared up he mused as he put on the headset and grabbed the controller.

“Welcome to The World,” a female voice announced in the headset as he placed it on his head after selecting the icon. “We have detected that this is the first run of The World on this machine, are you a new user?” Vlad selected yes from the list of options. “In order to enter the world you must first create an account with a password.” Vlad was now greeted with a new screen with a flashing cursor prompting him for input.

CODE
Username: Torque
Password: *********

It was his old nickname from when he used to play sports with his friends back before he got heavily into habits he shouldn't have. This time Torque wouldn't make the same mistake twice, an old name with a new chance.

The screen then switch to character creation presenting thousand of options. He flipped through the different options in regards to classes before finally settling on Heavy Axe. A heavily armored warrior who got into the thick of battle was preferred to a lightly armored caster as he expected it would provide the best chance remain alive for someone who wasn't completely familiar with video games. After selecting his class he moved onto his avatar's appearance. A warrior he decided, one that fit the characteristics of a medieval tank with a figure to match. Using that as a base he went to work on the different sliders and bars. Finally after what seemed like hours of tweaking and shaping he was finished. He confirmed his selection and finally entered The World. An old name with a new chance.

((Feel free to leave comments, I am going to format this to make it more visually guiding hopefully.))
