The truth was there, breathing on his neck like an animal. It was the truth that he disliked so much, the truth that seemed to haunt his every movement in that game. Could he leave it be? Could he just walk away from something that continued to trouble him so much?
James looked at the clock. It was ten o’clock at the time and on a school night. He longed for the night to end, for sleep to take over him until the sun was up again. Was it strange that he never found sleep when he wanted it to be there and found it when he hardly cared for it? You’ve got something on your mind. You can’t just go to bed. James sighed and stared down at the sheets, his finger tracing the fabric until it stopped at the end of the bed.
Surprisingly, it was raining that night. He wasn’t sure when he had last heard thunder. It could’ve been all the way back near summer, or around early fall. He loved the sound, booming yet harmless. He heard its soft rumble and his cat’s whimper where it sat on one of his cushions near the window. It stared at him, its eyes glowing in the darkness that shrouded them both.
James sat up in bed, stretching a little. He had concluded that he wasn’t going to fall asleep for the next few hours. There was little more he could do than answer that pleading voice in the back of his head. He rubbed his forehead and closed his eyes for a moment. There had to be at least something that he could do to get closer to those little questions that he had. Who could do that?
[OOC: This is just the start of a post that I'm working on. XD; I just wanted to post this up right now~]
