| QUOTE (Discovering The World) |
| Terrance Norton. A.K.A. The Looser. The story of individual being thrown in garbage cans or beat up all the time was the sweet melody to Terrance’s tear jerking violin. Any problems a nerd ever had in school, Terrance had it. He was one the most uncool kid within his high school and constantly reminded so with various wet willies and beatings. He hated school, but loved subjects such as chemistry and physics, making his stomach the pure target of revulsion. Terrance had a couple of friends, all of which were on the same boat, but none of theirs were so close to sinking as Terrance. Slowly but surely, the boy was hitting rock bottom in the food pyramid of high school. There was little his parents could do; teachers seldom noticed and the parents of bullies were often just as childish as they were. But that Christmas things were starting to look up. One of Terrance’s friends had purchased The World for him so that they could play together. His pale face beamed as he opened the present within the school cafeteria. It was 3rd lunch, the only time him and his best friend were able to hang out in school. “Thank you so much Dan!” The young man said graciously, knowing his computer could handle the game, but his parents never had the money to buy it for him. Dan nodded and smiled. “Yeah no problem. Sorry I could not get it sooner. Once you log into the world I’ll go down with my level 30 BLADE MASTER and help you learn everything. Then when you’re level 5 I can play with my new WAVEMASTER and we can get things going.” He informed Terrance. The boy listened attentively, knowing he would play this game right when he got home. He was listening, but had his eyes glued to the cover of the game. It looked so cool! ‘If just the cover looks cool,’ He thought. ‘The game must be amazing!’ Terrance grinned. “Aw gimme a break!” An uncomfortable chill went down the young man’s spine. He turned around and saw Jake, one of the most popular and slim bullies in school. “It’s one thing for you to be playin Dan, but don’t bring this loser into The World!” Beside him were too bigger kids, like his bouncers who did most of the dirty work. Terrance’s grin turned into an unhappy frown as he figured Jake was going to do something bad to him. The World was something all the cool kids were playing or at least, the kids that were cooler than Terrance. “Anyone can play.” Dan answered blatantly. “Yeah, but that’s just it. Terrance aint anybody. He’s just a nobody!” Jake smirked and took Terrance’s game. “Hey give that back.” Terrance cried and jumped for the box, but his two bozos took the boy down. His arms were pinned and Terrance watched helplessly as the disc was dangled in front of him. Many kids gathered around and laughed, yelling Fight Fight Fight!. Dan tried to stop Jake, but was pushed into one of the table’s behind him. “Heh, what are you going to do about it?” Jake asked, that annoying smirk still across his face. He embraced the disk, about to snap in half. He hesitated. “Wait, ya know what. I have so much fun clobbering you here, why not do it in The World too?” The people laughed and Jake dropped the disc. “I’m gonna camp your as in The World all day with my HEAVY ARMS once you reach level 10.” He laughed. The two big guys got off Terrance and he went to grab it. Just as he did so, one of the bouncers stepped on his hand, having the intention of stepping on the disc on his way out. Terrance clinched his teeth, but protected the disc; it was a gift and no one was going to harm it! Once the man was off his foot, Terrance brought himself to his feet and checked for any scratched. “Man I’m sorry about this Terrance. I didn’t know it would end up like this.” “No…Thank you. Thank you very much.” To Dan’s surprise, Terrance had a bright grin on his face. But he was only surprised because he did not know of the young man’s intention. He planned to learn all about the game and use it to seek revenge against any bullies who preyed on the weak in and out of game. He would be a protector in the game and teach those jerks a lesson! |
