So here is the short version. For a bit over the last 2 years my friend and I have been working on developing a tabletop rpg. Within the past 2-3 months it was finished and we've started playing/playtesting with our friends. I'm looking for opinions, suggestions, comments, etc. The manual can be downloaded from the link below.

Well, on a quick glance through, I noticed a heavy FF overtone. While this in and of itself isn't a bad thing (I've always wanted a DnD Red mage *_*) you may wish to change many of the spell names, especially any -ara and -agas such that they're not close enough to get sued, especially if this is planned to publish. Class names and whatnot are probably generic enough not to matter. I do like the Costal Wizards :P.

In addition, I forsee changing what 3d4 means causing a ton of confusion when switching from one system to this one. When I see 3d4 it means roll 3 four siders, not roll one four sider and multiply. If that's crucial to gameplay, then leave it as is, but it seems like something that ought to be considered. Heaven knows there's a handful that have you roll weird dice out there. 2nd ed DnD, Exalted, etc.

I do like the incorporation of Zodiac style fighting. :) And uh... My Sword is the Tree? You're swinging a tree? As a sword? I don't think I'd ever play another class. xD That's awesome.

Really the biggest thing is the FF overtone. It seems really prominent, and I'd imagine Squaresoft would be fairly protective of the fantasies, considering how much money it makes them. If this is intended to be a non profit system, it probably won't be as much of an issue.

At the end of the day though, I really only have one question:

When's the next online campaign? :)

Heh.

As far as the final fantasy overtone...back when I originally started messing around in with the idea FF was part of the title, so that's something that has been weeded out a little over time.

As for the dice, that has been argued back and forth somewhat. What we'll probably do is actually roll the separate dice and only multiple when it occurs as a result of level scaling.

In regards to things like 'My Sword is the Tree', that's how I picture it but we're trying to just be open to how the player wants it work. So long as the actual mechanics don't change, I don't care too much how people describe the move.

To answer your question regarding online play, we're just doing face to face sessions. I'd be happy if other people wanted to use the system and play though.

I like the concept a lot, the FF overtone is a bit heavy but that could probably be reworked fairly easily. I think we should set up a Divvy Pony Dreams group that could give it a test run, I know I'm anxious to give it a shot and I think others are too.

I'd probably advocate that Rayo DM for us but we could make something work if we had to. I think that we should set up an online session and I think it would be a lot of fun.

I'd love for you guys to try it, but I wouldn't be DMing. I'm already playing it with my friends where I live and don't think I'd have time to run one myself. I'd be perfectly willing and eager to help whoever did with whatever questions they had though. Our group size is 5, but probably anywhere from 3-6 would still work well. Turns take a while, so having too many would grind it to a halt.

I'm more than willing to help with a test run. I honestly don't mind the FF overtones, it's just that if you're trying to go professional with it, you're gonna need to remove as much as possible. It's a legal thing.

On that same note, a non profit FF tabletop probably wouldn't become an issue, since it wouldn't be taking any money away from the company.

I'm in for a test run though, there's a couple things that grab my attention on just a skim through, and I'm sure if I sat down, there'd be one or two that really call to me.

I'd be willing to do it with yeh, Xanny, should time permit. :) Sounds fun. And no crazy book costs :O.

I'm down for it as well. And I nominate Xan for makeshift DM with the condition that he doesn't go too batshit insane on us.

Blaaah, but I don't like DMing. =x Can't someone else do it? I prefer playing over DMing, DMing is way too much work.

I would like to be a player in this game...!
