Title: Real world area?

Ms. Jack - October 2, 2008 02:52 AM (GMT)
Just an idea.

Because people over the internet meet each other in real life all the time.

Stane - October 2, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
Well, I think most if not everyone RPs a character in a game and a player in real life. It wouldn't be too far fetched to write into a story that two players meet offline.

Stane's correct. However, you generally can't get rewards for a quest that's all in the real world. We'd have no explination for how your character leveled without fighting at least a monster or two. Hope that helps.

Ms. Jack - October 2, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
I don't mind about levels/weapons. Just about story. ^^

Plus if you kill someone in real life levels don't matter. >.<

Damek - October 2, 2008 03:08 AM (GMT)
I've done it before for fun on other sites. Personally, I don't think it's a bad idea.

We'd just have to be clear that no rewards would be given for them. Or, if rewards are necessary, maybe just GP? That gets traded around with no explanation all the time....

But I'd totally do it without that incentive :3

As a new member, I don't really have any standing, but I think it's a good idea.

Fayre - October 2, 2008 03:13 AM (GMT)
I looooove the idea of real world interactions.

Shenmock - October 2, 2008 03:17 AM (GMT)
Here's my implement on the matter...yay?

Anyways, it's quite a good idea...it's like Delta Quickchat, real world style, right...? Or something else like that, I don't know. XD I'm just referencing it right now, but seriously, I think real world's a fantastic idea. I actually enjoy playing my real world players...I spend a lot of time in there too. Most of my introduction posts are 75% REAL WORLD. OMG.

Anyways, sounds good to me.

Double what Shenny said. Basically, I've done several quests that have both little and LOTS of real life story to them. You just gotta judge it. I mean, if it's only going to be real life story, then do it in either delta quick-chat or just do a quest with no rewards (no matter how not fun that is =P). Or rather, just compile all of that real life storyline with some "The World" storyline, that way you can get rewards for it, while still allowing for character story advancement.

Wow, that was surprisingly on topic for me. Hmm...Sausages? o.O Ahh, that's better. ^__^

You know, this really does have some force behind it. I'll bring it to the Modmobile. I mean, really, I see no harm in adding an area similar to the Quickchat to allow for a real world RP.

Let's see what we can do! Keep discussing, please. I'm loving all the ideas flooding in!

Lyra - October 2, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
It's been discussed before, and always shoved aside because it's not a for-rewards option. I honestly partially figured the Quickchat could be used for this.

We'll see how the Modmobile discussion goes, but until anything else is decided, just do it there :P

Damek - October 2, 2008 03:56 AM (GMT)
I don't know.. honestly, like I said before, for me it's not about the rewards, and I'm sure other people probably feel that way.

I just find that it's easier to get a hang of playing your character when you get their real personality first. I mean... it's like acting a part of someone who's acting a part, right? You need to know the base character's motive before you can know how they'd act like something else.

I'm also crazy into character design, so.. that might just be me. Yay?

Stane - October 2, 2008 04:17 AM (GMT)
I don't see any reason for a new area to be made for this..it wouldn't add any more functionality. Real world interactions can happen anywhere where there are IC posts. I'm against the idea of an addition just for the sake of clutter heheh. Why bother? It's fine to play softball on a baseball field.

lugiablaster - October 2, 2008 04:56 AM (GMT)
Easiest way around the no-rewards thing would just to start with coming out of a dungeon or field run or type that you're going into one at the very end. *shrugs* It's not that hard to work around. And as everyone stated, if it's not for rewards, don't worry about it and go ahead with the quest =P

Uruvei - October 2, 2008 05:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah, we don't really need an area for this. It can be done in the places we already have. However, I would say that Real World activity would be a good thing to delve into more. ^^;

Centrus - October 2, 2008 07:23 AM (GMT)
So, the general consensus of the staff seems to be that the Quick Chat area would be the place to do it, though the description doesn't reveal that. I'll throw a little diddy about it in there, and we should be all set.

Thanks for the feedback!

Zan - October 2, 2008 07:36 AM (GMT)
Indeed. Thanks for your input, everyone. We're always eager to hear what you'd like to change or improve.

Keep it comin'. =]
