Title: Elimination Area...chat
Description: We might need one of these
Takua - September 12, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
This entire thread is OOC.
I decided that we might just want one of these in order to coordinate with other people, list spells or items that might be advantageous if used on one another, or if we wanted to designate what people should do, assuming we want to stay alive in this, because I have no doubt that it's going to be quite fun.
I've noticed that several of us have Ap Do, and there are also plenty who have Rip Maen. I was wondering if we could have everyone who has a piece of Time equipment say that they have it, and if you're willing to cast it on anyone other than yourself.
I have it, but no other Aps that would help. If I get lucky, I should be several levels higher and have significantly more spells by the time this starts, so I'm probably going to be the magical powerhouse here.
Thoughts? Preliminary strategies? Go ahead and put them here.
lugiablaster - September 12, 2008 12:24 AM (GMT)
*looks at equipment*
I have Ap Do. I can cast it a few times.
Shenmock - September 12, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
I'll work on throwing Ap Corvs and Ap Torvs at all the lower leveled peeps. ;D They need some ups, don't they? haha, yeah, don't have any Ap Dos, so... @_@; I'm not there for ya, sorry.
To those who will likely need it, post here noting me. *readies himself*
KamiKazeKiwi3 - September 12, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
We have a few IC limitations on coordination. Remember that, as per the prompt, we won't know what the event is about exactly until we're inside. It's therefore implausible to arrange for people to exchange items ahead of an event for which they should have no prior knowledge. The most I'd expect is intraclan preparations.
That aside, we have some options once the fighting has started. The rules specify that the next round doesn't start until ten minutes have passed or we've defeated all the enemies from the current round. Therefore, we can open up some time to breathe by avoiding killing all the enemies immediately. We also have other options for dangerous enemies, such as disabling them temporarily. I'll be editing some more information here soon, unless someone replies to the thread.
Centrus - September 12, 2008 12:28 AM (GMT)
Savior and I just gave our Time pieces over to Slice. He's got a complete Time set.
I've got Ap Anid/Ruem, for those with darkness/water skills, as well as Ap/Dek Corv. I'm also purchasing a few things as we speak to help in the area of further SP recovery, as some players, such as Zan, have 3rd level attack skills or even summons.
I don't have much up my sleeve, really, but whatever I do have is available to everyone.
Does anyone on the team have paralysis spells? I think Kiwi does...
Zan - September 12, 2008 12:29 AM (GMT)
With that new info, it might be wise for one of the more strategically-inclined characters (Takua, Kiwi, etc.) to do a group Flashmail about skill lists to be PM'd to everyone. IC, it'd be a lot of info, but it would also open up the IC limitations for those who'd take advantage of it.
[EDIT]Here's the list I have in my profile:

Magras - September 12, 2008 12:33 AM (GMT)
Currently, I have 5 Aps I can use. The problem is that I don't have the SP to launch all of them at the beginning of battle. I have Ap Do, Ap Torma (which will head your way come the start Tak), Ap Vorv, Ap Ruem and Ap Ganz. If everyone gather relatively closely, I can hit all of us with Ap Ganz and Ap Ruem. I am willing to Ap Do others, but if I don't have the SP for more than one request I'll send it to the one who needs it the most.
A small problem I can see is that a few of us lose strength against foes after round one/two. I personally become pretty much all support partway through round three, as the level 20+s show up. I believe I'm the only one that has this problem at this stage (as I don't know the Whipmaster's stats and can say that Wavemasters will be useful for hitting elemental weaknesses for a long time). I suggest that, by the point where you can't do enough damage to not be a liability (as I will be once the Witches are down in round three), that you focus not only on healing and buffing others, but debuffing the stronger foes. A Dek Ganz on a bunch of Baby Worms and Hell Boxes, for instance, will allow those with Ganz-affiliated skills and spells to knock them down rather quickly, especially in the case of summons and spells.
Takua - September 12, 2008 12:33 AM (GMT)
Very true.
A thought just struck me. Through the Witch's Wand, I have at my disposal Miu Lei, or Charm. So, large hulking monsters can become our allies temporarily, especially because that's not confuse. They can't attack us at all while Charmed.
Another consideration is that I have several summons, so we do have area of effect in quantity and quality from, at the very least, myself. I know that plenty of other people have the summons as well.
Kiwi? Would you want to send out a flashmail when the event starts or shall I? Granted, we could get that flashmail typed out here and now, as well as the replies, if we so wished.
Like Zan, a skill list.

If any of the wavemasters feels like having some aces, I have a couple summon water I'll let you borrow. (Eh kiwi has a point about the IC stuff.. well I have them anyway.) Could help in those oshi- moments. I'm not too high level, so your resident whipmaster will be standing back and supporting, along with some light whipping/slashing action! I've got sword chucks yo, and flaming inferno blasting Melting Touch hands...
EDIT: I've got Suvi Lei, La Repth, quick movement from my class, and lots of SP... so I can help debuff and heal as well.

| QUOTE (Centrus @ Sep 11 2008, 08:28 PM) |
| Savior and I just gave our Time pieces over to Slice. He's got a complete Time set. |
One thing that boggled me about that is that a full time set is vulnerable. It may be useful later, once attacks are so strong that they're basically impossible to survive, because his PEva will be really high. But his PDef is lower because some of the items only have evasion stats.
There are some general tactics that we can benefit from:
1. Elemental Aps are area spells. If players gather for a moment, they can all benefit from a single person casting an elemental Ap. By having a few players cast all the Aps, we can have boosts on all six elements. Notice that this doesn't work for the other Aps.
2. Later in the battle, lower-level players will prove a valuable asset because they can cast Aps, heal, and revive players regardless of their level. Furthermore, status effects don't depend on the level of the player casting them. Thus they have a way of aiding the party, by disabling dangerous monsters long enough for the party to gang up on them. One concern is that these things require lots of SP, but...
3. SP is plentiful. Unlike a normal duel, our SP recovery rate is +5 SP/post from any player. We can also cast Rig Geam (SP regen) on every player on the field so that everyone gains an additional small boost. This all means that we don't have to hold back as much, though our SP is by no means unlimited. I have at least one piece of equipment with Rig Geam. Additionally, the Blessed Blade has Rig Geam, and I think there are three copies of it around.
4. Status effects are very effective. Several of us should have equipment that can lower elements (which has an area effect, just like the AP), charm, paralyze, and poison. By distributing these items later, we can extend the useful lifespan of our lower-level players. This also allows us to tackle tougher enemies by pitting them against each other or freezing them temporarily. Most enemies are strong against Mind or Body attacks, but not both. We can take advantage of that to maximize the effectiveness of our attacks, since charm affects Mind and paralysis affects Body. I may have a few Wavemaster wands that have status effects, too.
5. I can disable SP-dependent enemies that would otherwise heal each other. For instance, the Menhir type monsters and the Mushroom monsters. I can equip the Philosopher's Fragment to increase my chances of Skill Drain. Combined with the Demonic Sword, my chances of Skill Drain are somewhere between 25% and 30% per strike. That gives me an ample SP supply, to use on things like Wryneck, at the expense of being poisoned until I've unequipped the Philosopher's Fragment. And the effect will remain for a few turns after that.

Okay, so I'm not as well-rounded as some of the people here, but I should be able to provide a good deal anyway. Also, as EC rewards will go up soon, I should bring a bit more to the table (Hoping for, but not expecting Merrows, GiRai Don, and OrmeAni Kruz in the mix to add some fun). Then there's post-quest shopping... so all of this is a very rough list that should have lots more on it soon. >3

(9:16:57 PM) KamiKazeKiwi3: One question: Would I be able to contact everyone considering I might not know everyone there?
(9:17:07 PM) darktakua: I would assume so
(9:17:23 PM) darktakua: I'd think that we'd all be in a party
(9:17:31 PM) darktakua: And so, we'd be able to send a flashmail that way
(9:17:34 PM) KamiKazeKiwi3: Okay. I'll simply assume that, thanks to the wonders of being forcefully partied, I can do that much.
(9:17:44 PM) darktakua: *Nods*
(9:18:50 PM) KamiKazeKiwi3: I should also be able to see everyone's class, level, HP, and SP.
(9:21:12 PM) KamiKazeKiwi3: I'll ask everyone for their Aps, Deks, status effects, highest level single and area healing spells, and highest level physical and magical attacks for each element?
(9:21:21 PM) darktakua: Sounds about right
(9:21:44 PM) KamiKazeKiwi3: You can ask me to forward you the information so that we'll both have it.
(9:22:02 PM) darktakua: *Nods* I'll do that
(9:22:17 PM) KamiKazeKiwi3: *imagines himself forwarding 20 messages*
(9:22:20 PM) KamiKazeKiwi3: @.@
That's going to help a lot. And wow... there's a ton of information here. Because we don't know what monsters to expect for now, we'll need to come up with specific responses on the fly as the event progresses.
Due to the length of each round, we'll need to recast our Aps periodically. I never thought this information would be useful on the board, but I timed Aps as lasting 4 minutes (Ap Do changes that, but let's just ignore that effect). Chances are we'll settle into a pattern of disabling our last remaining enemy, casting a furious wave of Aps all over the place, then triggering the next round. This is safer than trying to coordinate everything while we have dozens of monsters running around.
I'm going to do two more things. First, I'll post up my useful spells and the items that have them so that we can consider how the items might be distributed later. Second, I'm going to work on a hurried update to NISDIP that was suggested some weeks ago: listing monster stats and features. During Elite Dreams of Unity, players had problems because they had to assume information about monsters, leading to some contradictions. We'll have a common guide to help avoid this.
Xantos - September 12, 2008 01:40 AM (GMT)
Here's my list of skills, for reference:
Rue Zot
La Repth
Repth
Rai Rom
Vak Don
BiVak Rom
Rai Don
Vak Kruz
Juk Rom
Vulcan Ch (Potentially if my quest finishes in time)
Yarthkins (See Vulcan Ch, same staff and it's a level higher than my current)
Wryneck
Miu Lei
Gan Don
Ani Don
MeAni Kruz
Odds are I'll probably start off blasting, but after round three or four I'll probably switch over to La Repth spam since I'll quickly lose efficiency after like the level 15-18ish stuff. I'm HOPING m'quest comes through by the time this starts, in order to open up the other two summons I have since they'd keep me rolling a fair bit longer, being considerably stronger than conventional spells, but I don't know how well that'll go at the speed we're going. I'd say don't count on 'em. I do have Charm and Wryneck at my disposal currently though. So I can still do some good.

Ap Ruem

Vak Kruz
Juk Rom
Repth
And I might have Gan Zot (I don't have enough SP to use it...)? If I finish my quest by then... provided I get a level o.o; heh...
I can make things easier in Round 1 at least ^^; And then take to the sidelines, I assume. Unless anyone else has any ideas?
Fayre - September 12, 2008 02:20 AM (GMT)
Well, here are my spells! I feel like a failure wavemaster, since there are so few. XD
Repth
Juk Rom
Gan Zot
Rue Rom
Or I can switch my Water Wand for my Earth Wand and have Gan Don instead of Rue Rom. But I think I'll stick with Rue Rom for variety. You can be sure Fayre will run around insanely, casting a Repth from time to time. Strategy is not something that comes easily to Fayre when she's panicking. :3
Zan - September 12, 2008 02:32 AM (GMT)
I think, if possible, the later rounds should find the lower levels (those who have the necessary level, still) with weapons that employ the use of 'Death.' That way, while the stronger players keep the damage - the 'aggro', if you will - focused on them, those that might otherwise have to stay simply away will be able to give some help. It has its risks, of course, but it's a strategy to consider when things get more heated, I think.
Shenmock - September 12, 2008 02:38 AM (GMT)
I have a Critical Hit skill and it looks like those who have it are you and Cent, Zan... I think a few people have it, other than them, but...otherwise, the plan's a brilliant way to use everybody to the best of their ability.
Fayre - September 12, 2008 02:48 AM (GMT)
I don't suppose any wavemaster weapons would have that death effect on them...? XD I'd love to have Fayre running around wailing on monsters with a staff, but the ability to do so seems unlikely.
Magras - September 12, 2008 02:51 AM (GMT)
I'll bust out my Executioner at that point, Zan. Aps and healing will be a priority for me, though.
Fayre, I don't think any WM weapon has Death on it, simply because Wavemasters are pretty much always (well, intended to be at least) away from monsters.
Locke - September 12, 2008 02:53 AM (GMT)
I've got my Assassins (Yes, I kept my level 4 weapons) when we get to the really high monsters, so I can go Death-crazy too.
Fayre - September 12, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
Yeah, that's what I was figuring, Magras. But I was hopeful. xD
Reinier - September 12, 2008 03:06 AM (GMT)
Should we pool money together and stock up on resurrects ands scrolls, or what? I'm a beat stick, so I won't concentrate on healing. I have a Life Sword, so an Ol Repth here and there will help... I guess?

Takua - September 12, 2008 05:49 AM (GMT)
My supply of Mage's Souls and Resurrects are mostly tied up, although there will be a few for this certainly.
Those with Rip Maen (levels 26 and up at the least) will certainly have to decide between using their SP and an item.
Should Juk be graded in time, my list of spells will expand to include at least every level 1 summon, one level two of each element, and one level three of each element. So, at all times, I can be counted on to deliver elemental criticals at a third level state. My biggest AoE is obviously the Vulcan Ch...and Magras, you will get lots of protection from Tak if you do cast that on him, because he was go batshit crazy with power.
If anyone wants to see what spells I would get, check the 28-29 wands for a Wavemaster. Lots of Roms and Dons. Keep in mind that I have a BL Yokohama and Stormlore, so Rai and Rue have boosted stats. Cent...obviously going to want a Ap Ruem. That said, all Aps are going to be highly effective on me, let alone anyone above level 15 when you get a lot of elemental skills.
As Kiwi said, don't be afraid to use the SP. We have twenty people, so assuming that everyone posts in-between your posts (not likely), that's 100 SP. Not, as they say, half bad at all.
I would appreciate it if anyone who has Rig Geam would cast it on me so that I do get that boost.

Well, if that just isn't a healthy spell arsenal...
SP will be an obvious concern, but it's something of a comfort just the same.

Wow, I missed a lot of planning XD
Well, um, my spells have been listed here already. I can spare an Ap Do on some people, and I have a few 'unique' spells here and there (like Miu Lei), but best of all, I can tank. I have a feeling that's all I'll be useful for >.>
Takua - September 12, 2008 09:35 AM (GMT)
Nah...Miu Lei and Ap Do are always useful. Hopefully, you'll have some SP to spare for those. Besides, isn't it better when the level 40+ monster that you're trying to kill is trying to kill its own team mates?
As for tanking...you, Zan and Slicer methinks are going to have fun in that role. Maybe Kiwi as well, although we will need some damage dealing. Remember that, near the end, we'll need all the high levels we can get to do damage and you should be able to help with that...right?
And yes, this thread did quickly grow...quite massively. >.> *is actually kinda surprised by how many people jumped it*

Just point the way and I'll swing!
Zan - September 12, 2008 01:30 PM (GMT)
I'll be both happy to tank and DPS. My level should be fairly higher by the time this actually starts, to boot, so...
So, as Cypher said, point somewhere and I'll swing. Though my own spell arsenal should come in handy. I have every Ap and Dek, I believe, but the Anids. Plus I have the Antidote and Restorative spells, Rig Saem and Geam, Ap Do, Rip Maen...etc. My elemental list isn't small either, but as a Heavy Blade they won't be anything too daunting even with the level twoness.
But this is all preliminary, of course. I'm sure our plans will get turned on their heads when it's live. More reliable plans then, methinks.

I could maybe help with tanking...but I'm a medium class, so that might be a problem? Anyways, I'm up for anything anyone tells me to do, just because...yeah, I can take some hits. :P
So...yeah, sign me up for tanking? Unless there's something somebody really wants me to do...
Edit: I have Miu Lei, too, surprisingly enough. So...yeah. =3 I think I have some pretty good stuff...whoo~
