So after five years, I think it's time to get a little variety around here, and others seem to agree. But there's also a unanimous call that we cannot change the default skin (I wouldn't dream of it).

So it's time for some new skin options for Divergence, to commemorate us somehow lasting 200,000 posts! (And the total's probably much higher once you factor in the server crashes and Main and all that good stuff :D)

We wanted to make sure that a skin would be available that everyone loves, so we're doing the only logical thing: holding a contest!

Each participant should send in or post up a pair of banners: A top banner measuring 800-1150 wide and 150-250 high, and a bottom banner measuring 400-500 wide and 50-80 high. These need to be in a high-quality .jpg, .png, or .gif format; animation is allowed but must be tasteful and unobtrusive. If you edit your piece with GIMP, Photoshop, or a similar program, please keep the original multi-layer file as well.

Participants may also include a skin or an intended color scheme with their banners, but only the pair of banners is required for entry, and a skin will be designed for any skinless set.

You may use any .hack art, official or otherwise (get permission if it's someone else's fanart!) from the R:1 era for your banners. Characters that appear in the game's general style are also permitted, though of course banners DO NOT have to have any characters or game locations depicted on them. The only required content is the words ".hack//DIVERGENCE" in the proper casing, though of course any other relevant text, including the epitaph or the "Log in. ...Choose." text from the peeking.jpg top banner are allowed and encouraged.

The deadline for entry is midnight on the 30th. Please no more than three entries per person; entries may also be retracted up until the deadline. You have the option of entering either by placing your banners in this thread, with all entries contained in a single post, or entering anonymously by PMing your entries to Saphyre (that account, not mine!) with the title "Banner Contest", or a combination thereof.

Starting on the first, there will be a public vote for the best banner set. We expect three winners to be chosen, but the actual number may change depending on the volume of entries. The winners, obviously, get to have their work be skin options here on Divergence, but other prizes may have been determined by then as well!

Made this skin a long time ago, and I still use it for various things. This is a site I plan on working on later (it's for school, and very basic), but you can see everything, I think.

I thought everyone talked about the skin and banner. If I remember right, people liked the one we have now, one person specifically liked it because it had Natsume in it. I like the blue, personally.

Jinx, this is just for an alternate banner and skin...like, it's optional. We can have a little button at the bottom where you can change the skin or something like that...it's not replacing this one. I'll tell ya that much. :P

Alright, I'll see if I can come up with something that vaguely matches the banner Gingi made for us so very long ago. Well, more some combination of that and Mainplot's SubBlue with some graphical pretties in the mix as well...

I wish to help but I'm not good at image making, I'm good with layouts if I have a banner already made... but as you've seen Lyra my attempt at making a banner is 2D and bland....

I'd like to see us make some nice new layouts, some with color preferences to match anyone’s tastes. Like this blue and white for Aura and Natsume fans, black and red is kinda overdone but there are still lots of BR fans. Black and neon are traditional .hack// so that could be a good choice. @o@ sooo many to chose from...

I personally love the way it is now even though it's kinda Invision defaultish.

I made a banner! Don't ask why I used Haseo, Honestly I have never did get to play G.U. so other than the fact the he is an emo looking twin blade I know nothing about the guy.
