Title: Events
Description: Everybody loves them

So really what this topic is proposing is that we have more...I don't know if anyone can handle an event a month or something, but they're oh-so much fun, mostly in the summer or near Christmas break when people have time. I, personally, love events just for the fun. Usually I'd go for rares in something like this, but find that it's more for the fun of it. The tournament's pretty fun, but when you're out, there's nothing to do. For those are in, great, but for those who don't have anything to do for another few months aren't quite satisfied...well, I can't say the statement is true, but I'm just thinking that. Last years' Zombiefest, as I remember, had a lot of people participate. It was huge and good, but the next good event we had after that was the tournament...well, there was the pool party event, but yeah. We just haven't had enough of them...but yeah, just proposing we try to get more of them out because everyone enjoys them and we don't quite have enough enjoyment without more events. =/
But that's just my opinion...so yeah, Admins? Agree or disagree?

This was something Zan and I had discussed a little back when summer first started. I had proposed something of one myself, and we talked about timing and stuff. I, for one, wholeheartedly agree that events are a great way to renew life for a character that can be troublesome, but there has to be a balance in the frequency of them. If we start doing too many, they will lose their significance.
Rest assured, this will come up again in discussion soon.

I'd prefer, myself, for the tournament to be done before we start another event. Tournaments have the tendency to suck the life out of events that go along side them (Delta Fair, anyone?). So a Centrus said, just a little patience. It'll happen again.

Just to note, that interference seems very unlikely to be true. Firstly, the dates don't add up. Round two featured 12 players across the 6 matches that started on April 26th. Assuming that there are only as many active players on the board as those that went into the tournament, that being 24, then we had 12 free players who could have participated. The Delta Fair events started on May 1st and took place over two weeks; round one ended on April 15th. Given that information, that means there were 12 players who had 16 days free before the events started. And we should expect that there were actually more active players, because there were people who didn't like dueling or were unable to join the tournament.
Secondly, the Delta Fair probably saw little attention because it happened to coincide with the time when people have finals and graduate. After all, it's been a problem in the past, several players commented on their classes at the time, and even I found myself having to stay offline to study for classes.
Shenmock has posed a similar date-related issue outside this thread: If we hold events off, they'll coincide with the time when people return to their classes, and we'll probably see another failure that might be misattributed. Concurrent events, while rare, have been held before without a problem. There are only six players left in the tournament, out of twelve from the last round, so it wouldn't make sense for there to be any interference between events.

I'm not saying that it's wrong to do an event for fun but, I will say that there should be a difference between a fun event and an event where actual rewards are handed out. I was glad that I didn't participate in the Zombiefest when I saw all the rewards handed out were pieces of costume sets that weren't even part of the original pieces.
Basically, if it's like the Hot Springs or the Delta Fair that's fine as long as people are aware of it but if an actual event is going to be held, it's best to reward how its suppose to be rewarded.
I personally want to be in an event that's like Frost Quaking Volcano Hunt.

Plus, there are members who have joined since the tournament who are eager for events. Such as I! So that also provides some numbers. I'm eager to participate in my first event.

It's something I've seen in the past, as well, actually. However, if enough people do want an event, you'll have to talk to Nighthand. He has the idea developing for the next one that was supposed to go after the tournament.
