Title: Mutual Benefit

KamiKazeKiwi3 - August 10, 2008 12:46 AM (GMT)
Off to the side of the Gabrioni Hall of Chance, Kiwi listens in on Kashi placing a wager on him. It's just what he has been waiting for. Math speaks clearly: the fewer players place bets on the winner, the more money each will gain. He nears Kashi on his way out and tries to get his attention by tapping his shoulder.

"Hello there. I'm Kiwi, the Heavy Blade you just bet on." he says. Hopefully the sudden introduction won't creep Kashi out.

"I'd like to offer you a deal. In exchange for tacking on a large sum to your existing bet, for which I'll get the profits after this round, I'll pay you 2000 GP. We can maximize our gains by placing our bets under your name. And if it goes well, I might even throw in a little extra." It's a bold approach, certainly. One might even think it's a huge risk. Yet Kiwi has a bit of information on his side. Having reviewed the list of applicants to Spectre, a branch of the Army of Darkness, Kiwi knows that Kashi is connected with the clan. He'll be able to track the Blademaster down if he tries to run with the winnings.

Having placed his bet on Kiwi, Kashi approached the exit of the Gabrioni Hall of Chance. A tap on his shoulder caused him to turn around, finding a player behind him. The man's introduction nearly makes Kashi freak out in surprise, but the tone of voice gives him the idea that he shouldn't. The Blademaster listened to the offer intently, curious as to why a higher-leveled player would need his help.

Instead of choosing to inquire, he simply nods his head. "Alright, I'll do it. After the finals are done, should I meet you back here if the bet is successful?" The question would've had a fairly obvious answer, but Kashi wanted to know what the man had to say. Something about the character reminded Kashi of someone, but he wasn't sure where he'd seen the man. Aside from matches in the tournament, of course.

"Sure. That'll work fine." replies Kiwi. With that said, he passes 87,000 GP to the Blademaster. An enormous sum, to be sure. He watches in quiet amusement, wondering how Kashi might react.

Kashi's eyes opened wide at the gigantic sum of money he was given to add to his bet, almost dropping it. He said a large sum, but this, this isn't large. It's humungous! To think I could only muster up 1200 GP for a bet, he wondered in amazement as he headed back to the betting counter. Hoping that Kiwi won for both their financial sakes, he proceeded to revise his bet.

Returning to the Trade Center, the Blademaster laboriously pushes the wheelbarrow containing a bag carrying 147,900 GP. Wiping copious amounts of digital sweat from his brow with a gloved hand, he leans against the wheelbarrow. Not spotting Kiwi nearby, he waits for the man to show up.

The Heavy Blade makes his appearance. He waves casually as he nears Kashi and the hefty wheelbarrow. It's perhaps the greatest sum of money he has ever seen in The World. A shame he can't keep it all. He pats the Blademaster on the back and stows the winnings. Then, as promised, he hands over a pouch.

"Enjoy the 4000 GP." he says.
