Title: Pluto's Kiss

Yuuki-chan - June 17, 2008 01:19 AM (GMT)
Pluto's Kiss (冥王の口づけ) is a catastrophic event that took place on December 24, 2005. On that day, all computers connected to the Internet crashed simultaneously around the globe. Additionally, all networked computer and communication network control systems were shut down.

In the United States, the automatic retaliatory systems malfunctioned, in a short time reaching a point of crisis. 77 minutes later, the global network was able to recover itself from the incident but the resulting chaos caused the United States' nuclear defence and automated counter-strike systems to be armed.

It was later discovered that the virus creator was a ten-year-old elementary school student, living in Los Angeles, California.

The incident was so damaging that United States President, Jim Stonecold, later resigned from office in January 2006 after taking full resposibility for the incident.

Ever since then, ALTIMIT OS has been the only major operating system in the world; this is credited to its remarkable stability.

Did anybody ever figure out how the kid did this? Was it accidental?

Magras - June 17, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure how he did it, and I don't think I'll ever be. I think it'd be best if we put Pluto's Kiss behind us, since it caused quite a bit of damage (hopefully all recoverable).

I would be a little interested to find out how a kid in elementary school crashed the world (basically) on Christmas Eve.

Well, its not like i can just let it go. How can you ignore something that almost caused global nuclear annihilation?

Not to mention that it was somebody that young.

You voice against a hacker in this thread but support a hacker in another. You can't have things both ways. Hackers are hackers whether their crimes are small or large.

Yuuki-chan - June 17, 2008 04:53 AM (GMT)
You don't have to be a hacker to create a virus, also I'm presuming that it was completely accidental.

((Damn, dude. I'm only Role playing. Ease up.))

Ko_Inuyasha - June 17, 2008 04:57 AM (GMT)
How could something like that be accidental? Sure, you don't have to be a hacker to make a virus but it's the hackers that do make these viruses. It's the hackers that ruin this game and the player's lives by doing what ever they want with the system.

((I'm roleplaying as well. This and that have nothing to do with each other, sorry for the misunderstanding.))

Yuuki-chan - June 17, 2008 05:06 AM (GMT)
Not necessarily. You know that people get viruses spontaneously. Even with an OS as stable as ALTIMIT it's still possible to get one. Trojans, and Spyware are often created out of discarded data that an unlucky somebody may have found while browsing the web. Not all hackers are hell-bent on destroying peoples lives. Alot of them are just regular people that just like messing with stuff. Really its just the idea of power that interests me, not the ability to hack itself.

But if I met a hacker in "The World" I would greet him/her with open arms. They might not be very responsive, but alot of them are just looking for a good time.

User Mookie: You are incorrect. ALTIMIT is an infallible OS. Careful measures have been taken to make sure no trojans or viruses can affect the populace again - especially something like Pluto's Kiss.

Wether you believe it or not Mister "Admin", you must remember that there is a way past anything. There will always be that one person. Everyday new information is created and used as a way of communicating with the world. Nothing is perfect and where theres a will, theres a way. Don't forget that.

As an added note, somebody found a way to manipulate the system of "The World" while using ALTIMIT, so why wouldn't it be logical to apply the same principles to the OS itself?

CyberConnect - June 17, 2008 05:36 AM (GMT)
User Mookie: For every person out there who has some semblance of a chance against ALTIMIT, there is a person working for ALTIMIT that can counter them before anything can happen. So, "Player", remember that.

I will interpret further childish rumors of ALTIMIT weaknesses as an attack on the OS itself. Hacking is a crime with severe punishments in this day and age. Move the topic back to Pluto's Kiss or I will be forced to purge this topic.

I'll watch my back if you watch yours..."Admin"

User Mookie: You're not-so-veiled threat has earned your Character Data a red flag. The Knights of War will be keeping tabs on you. I'd be very, very careful who you keep company with and the things you say. Our game chat logs don't miss a thing.

This topic has outlived its usefulness, as it is clear you don't plan on doing as I instructed.
