Title: A Manual

I've been discussing it with other members of the RPG and I came up with the idea of making a .Hack//Divergance manual, providing all the information in one, easy to click and navigate adobe reader file that I could host on the internet. If I were to do this, would anyone use it? It would be everything in the mix of threads all ready here, only it would be easier to find everything and gain information. So my question is, what should it contain? I have a lot of subjects that will be addressed and explained as I create, but is there a specific order it should be in and should it include everything (like the weapons list and all that). If that were the case, I could make like an item dictionary and there could even be a bestiary.

Well, we've actually got the item list/Beastiary as well as spell, skill, and item descriptions all wrapped up nicely in the NISDIP. Personally, while I think it is a great idea, I dunno what we could put in it.

Yes, I know there's stuff, but it's really jumbled up ya know?

I see your point, but still, putting it all in one topic would make it feel like it's stuffed inside one thing, but I see your point. That's up to the Admins so...haha.

Another idea that was brought up was to make a table of contents and link each subject to the threat that provides the information for that subject.
That would be easier.

A Table of Contents doesn't sound like quite a bad idea...

While I don't see it as a bad idea to have available, I would rather use the NISDIP as a resource personally. It's available on the web (no download) and you'd get the updated version every time you loaded the page instead of having to keep up with the updates you might make to a PDF file. I don't find PDFs particularly easy to navigate either, while while for the NISDIP finding something is just a matter of opening the page and the 'find' option and filling it in.
If you plan to make this though, I would probably discuss what to have in it with the makers of the NISDIP, at least for the first edition.

I think it would be a good idea to have a thread with links to all the other threads with important information in them. The NISDIP covers a LOT of stuff, and I thought Jpec was making a new, updated FAQ that should be sort of along that idea. But just having a simple little thread with important links displayed where newbies can easily find it seems like a really good thing. Not really what you had in mind, maybe, but it is something that could be useful.

Basically what you're talking about is an updated version of the Ultimate Divergence FAQ, which is already being worked on.
http://invisionfree.com/forums/DIVERGENCE/...?showtopic=4404 for the old version
Between that and just paying attention to stickies, all the information is fairly easily available, and the mods and admins are happy to help when questions arise. The new version of the FAQ, too, should be more developed and contain most everything, or links to everything.
Also, PDFs are pretty terrible; take forever to load (For people who still use adobe's reader anyways), they're difficult to search, and they're altogether more ungainly than the same information in txt form is. The only benefit for a pdf is to have the fixed layout for the instance of a player deciding to print it out.
Basically, Esuki, your sentiments and thoughts are appreciated, but we're already working on it.

Ah, okay, well I'm just glad it's being worked on then :)
I didn't know so thanks for letting me know!
