Title: Weapon Images?

Matthias - February 28, 2008 06:34 AM (GMT)
I'm wondering if anyone has images or descriptions of weapons so that I can make things accurate.

Specifically I'm looking for Zero Sword/Katana.

I don't think most of us bother keeping weapon descriptions accurate to the games, there's just too many of them and not enough screen shots. Basically, you know what kind of weapon it is, what skills it has, and just kind of do your own thing from there. I don't think I've seen anyone describe their weapons too often anyways though. Frankly, no matter what weapon I use, I always just represent it as a katana. No special design, just standard issue. Maybe a symbol or two on the hilt depending, but nothing horribly different from weapon to weapon.

lugiablaster - February 28, 2008 07:16 AM (GMT)
Actually, I've seen a lot of people describing their weapon. Some people follow what they see in the games while others just do what they like with their weapon. Really, though, it is just up to you.

Matthias - February 28, 2008 07:27 AM (GMT)
Ok, cool, thanks.

Actually here's the amusing thing.

Once upon a time a while back, Lighteria and I decided to model the weapons from the games in the form of pixel art. This meant going into //QUARANTINE, finding the weapon, equipping it on someone, making a pixel art version, and moving on to the next.

Well, that's a lot of work, but progress was made. I have pretty much all of the heavy blades, rares included, but most of the other classes are under-done. Just Heavyblades and Long Arms are more than a couple weapons done.

So... I can give some weapon images to some people if you want. I can't guarantee I have the weapon modeled, or that I'll get around to modeling more any time soon, but...

user posted image This is the Zero Katana. It's also in Zan's photobucket, since I pulled the link from his profile where he linked it for his inventory. You don't have to stick with the game's vision of course, but this gives you a rough idea.

Incidentally, here are a few other weapons that are fun/amazing.

user posted image Blessed Blade (Props to lights for the base model on this one, that blade is hard as hell to get right and he nailed it.)

user posted image Magnifier (The model, again, is Lighteria's, though I did the color job for this specific one.)

Went through that album (giggled at a few things. Zan, how the hell did you get Itami's avatar and banner in there? Or, more specifically, why the hell did you make him one? XDDD) but couldn't find any long arm weapons...

Where they be at? o.o I'm curious as to what they look like. I forgot.

Arcion - February 28, 2008 03:44 PM (GMT)
As far as weapon images go, I don't really describe mine, since as an Archer (advanced class) the weapon itself is small and hardly even worth describing. As all of my weapons have an element attached, the bow has a kind of 'aura' to help me remember what I'm using at the moment. For instance, when I pull out the Fire elemental bow, there is a red 'aura' to it, so I, my allies and opponents can tell what skills I might be using and my elemental strengths and weakness, but not enough light to even reflect on the character, so there's no gaming effect.

I do differentiate between different weapons as outside combat notes, but inside combat, there's really not enough difference to take note of other than usable skills

More likely than not, they're sitting on Nighthand or Lighteria's hard drive.

I also have to bring up the point of image hacks. A lot of people have these in place on their weapons, so that no matter what weapon they have equipped, it doesn't have bearing on what image is shown. For Ko_Inuyasha, his sword is essentially Tetsusaiga. For me, it's a sort of rapier with a katana's hilt that has varying visual effects in its activated state based on which sword is equipped (though it never changes shape). It's the same type of deal as animal hacks: the image hacks are allowed so long as they're only for show and can't really help your character in any way.

Yeah, the Long Arm images are on my harddrive, currently rather annoying (but not too difficult) to access. I'll attempt to pull them up and see what I can recover.

...

Here we go with a few. =P

For Comparison purposes, this is what the Spear Core MK 3 looks like in the game itself, so you can see how accurate out pixel art models are.

NICE job on those weapon sprites, guys! ^_^ I really like them.

Sometimes I use images from the card game to get an idea of what a monster or item looks like. But it only has a few of the overall monsters, weapons, and armors you'd find in the game. Still, it's sometimes useful.

Arinyes - February 28, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
I actually got fed up with having a wood of staves with differing descriptions, so I had in one quest ending up with an eccentric hacker doing some visual remodelling on the staff and keep it at that. Saves a headache of finding the appropriate weapon (which becomes hard when you end up having a Divvy created rare weapon)

Satoshi - February 29, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
Ah thank you Nights. I knew I had the wrong image in my head of what the starter Long Arm weapon looked like. Thanks for clearing that up.

Yeah hacks... Satoshi doesn't care enough to use them... o.o

Ocean Soul - March 23, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
I'm planning on drawing a picture of my character. She's Twin Blade, have you got pictures of that class' weapons?

nighthand - March 23, 2008 08:42 PM (GMT)
Some of them, but not all of them. Which weapon do you plan to be using?

Ocean Soul - March 23, 2008 10:11 PM (GMT)
I assumed they would all look somewhat the same, but I guess the Steel Blades, since that's what I'm starting out with.

nighthand - March 24, 2008 03:46 AM (GMT)
That's not one of the images I have on hand, but I do have it modeled on my computer. I'll ask Zan if he happens to have it stored away somewhere, but if not, I'll get it in a couple days. I'm getting an adapter to access my currently-dead desktop so barring it not working... yeah. Couple days.

There's the Steelblade for you.

Savior X - August 6, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
Hehe, yay for reviving a dead topic!!!

So, I was curious about these images and I wanted to see if we could get a complete compilation of them maybe and post them up somewhere?

I know you have a majority of then nighthand and I'm still in contact with Light, so I can see if he has them as well.

nighthand - August 6, 2008 10:27 PM (GMT)
Here's a zip with all of the ones currently modeled (unless Lights did some more and never gave them to me.) Pretty much all the Heavyblades and Spears are modeled, as well as a bunch of twin blades. I only have one axe, a couple staffs, and not much else modeled. I keep meaning to do more, but I don't often have the time and access to a TV with the game on.

http://www.divergencerp.org/tempimages/wea...gincomplete.zip

I'll probably get to work on them again in my days off, though I have to remember how I was getting them in-game... Oh well.
