Title: Spam Threads

Jpec07 - December 27, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
So as I'm sure a lot of you are aware, we have been undergoing the attacks of several automated spam bots. While most of these are quickly dealt with, occasionally one or two will go unnoticed for a while. If you happen to find one of these, please...
  1. DO NOT OPEN THE THREAD!!! Most of these threads are fairly obvious from the title and have some kind of pornographic or at least suggestive insinuation there. Opening the thread, though not proven, might be used by the websites in question to direct more traffic. The more hits they get, the more spammers we get.
  2. Do NOT post in the thread. Replies might attract more of them as well.
  3. Alert the nearest moderator. Point out the forum in question to a nearby moderator, and the problem will be dealt with swiftly.
  4. Go on about your happy lives. With the problem dealt with, you have no more need to worry about the spam. Simply continue what you otherwise would have been doing, and thank you for your patronage!
Soon we will have a system in place to more efficiently deal with these spam bots, so that you will hopefully never have to deal with them again.

Thank you for your time, and have a nice day. ^_^

As I stated a few weeks earlier...

"You know your site's successful if you start getting pr0n ads on it."

*bumps due to renewed threat*

Yeah. Rules still apply. The only two forums that we generally find this problem in are the Questions & Comments forum and the Registration forum, as they don't require validation to post in. Just try and keep your distance.
