A tree, innocent looking as it was, had hidden behind it the body of a Twin Blade on duel notice. Atash, a few minutes before, had been crawling around the Swordbreaker boards looking for an old friend to duke it out with, and he was now in the midst of the battlefield to be. The courtyard's centerpiece was a fountain, which in turn was surrounded by a gigantic web of stony walkways, well manicured fields of grass, and trees. Where the grass ended, woody foliage grew in a thick layer around the courtyard walls. Wreckage from an old eva slumped nearby, surrounded by the virtual trees that naturally waxed and waned in numbers on a day by day basis that reality could never have allowed. Everywhere one looked, there was a hiding place, and, conversely, everywhere one looked, there could be hiding someone just waiting to assault an unwary adversary.

Atash peeked from behind the tree towards the courtyard's main gates. Unsurprisingly, no one, besides himself and the castle gardener, had come under the white arch. The boredom of trying to stay put for a single small and negligible first-strike advantage was starting to get to his head. He kicked the tree a few times before questioning his actions, after all, the duel would start when the other person entered and declared readiness, not when the person playing trap-door spider draws first blood. The castle gardener turned from his new sprinkler system and saw Atash emerge. Waves were exchanged, and the gardener, having just finished tweaking the system, took a long hike from the center of the courtyard to its edge, zigzagging down the walkways. The gardener eventually reached the gates and disappeared, leaving Atash all alone in the playing field.

Although now was an opportune time to go through a checklist involving his equipment, his magic, his skills, and most of all, how outranked he in fact was levelwise, Atash didn't bother. The fountain somehow had a quality of greater interest to him than the intricacies of the hack-and-slash duel coming up. Twirling his Phantom Blades in the water, he sighed. "I've got to stop getting to events early. Really, I've got to... Damn it Centrus, where the hell are ya'?"

(OOC: My Armor ~ Nomad's Hood, Leather Armor, Safety Shoes. Wow, this stuff hasn't changed in almost 2 years!!!)

(OOC: EDIT! Oh, and I have 'wristbands'. I use them to cast 'magic missile'. To attack the darkness. Die darkness die >_< )
